    Hey hey
In today’s video, I’m going to show you how I put together a piano based, singer songwriter ballad using Toontrack’s Ez Keys starting with the chorus.
So just to give some context, I received a custom song order from a customer last Monday which is in essence, a personalized song that tells the recipient’s story. These types of songs make for gifts for all kinds of occasions like weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, graduations, etc, etc.
You can learn more about all that at www.yourcustomjingle.com
►► Following specific songwriting prompts can be a great way to stretch creatively by venturing outside your comfort zone. If you’re interested in grabbing a copy of the songwriting prompt I used to write this song, jump on my mailing list (grab the free guide to opt in) and shoot me an email with “SONGWRITING PROMPT” in the subject line. ►►
What’s your experience with writing from voice recordings? Any struggles? Let me know in the comments.
    Thanks for watching.

This is awesome. Love the raw-ness and out of the box thinking. Nice to see more emphasis put on the creative process instead of the technical stuff being put at the forefront.

Thanks so much! I really appreciate your thoughts on this, especially regarding the creative process because yeah man I agree. I feel like there is so much material out there that deals with the technical that it can be overwhelming to someone who just wants to keep things simple and create something that they find joy in.
So happy to hear that you got something out of this. Thanks for watching!

Very interesting to see your creative workflow. To me that‘s much more interesting than those polished marketing shitshows, that have become a sad standard in the plugin-YT-hypetrain by professional synthfluencers and alike. Thanks for that! Keep up the good work!

Wow thanks so much! That’s actually really awesome to hear because I definitely compare myself to the others on here with high production value in their videos and sometimes feel insecure but I’m so happy to hear that this material is resonating with you. Thanks so much for checking it out!

I never thought of melody creation first. As a guitarist I either did chords first or sometimes lyrics (but no melody first). This would have been thirty years ago for a period of about ten years before putting any thought of rockstardom on the back-burner.
I got back to it a couple of years ago, but it's either re-recording those original songs or writing production music (instrumentals) for the likes of Pond5.
Scaler2 has similar "performance" capabilities to this, which is handy for me not being able to play keys. LOL.

I'm not sure what "Tack" means but I'll take it as a compliment! 😀 Thanks for checking out the video!

Wow! I had never of thought of working with EZKeys by starting with the vocal. I think previously my EZKeys workflow constrained my melodic opportunities. The chords dictated the melody, rather than the reverse. Kinda eye opening for me.

Awesome! I’m so happy to hear that this was helpful! Yes, it is certainly a different perspective and approach but I highly recommend it. What’s great about Ez Keys is that every key signature is right there for you so even if you’re not sure what key your melody is in, you can simply play around with chords until you find something that sounds good. Thanks for checking out the video! Would love to hear what you come up with when you try this approach out.

Music is Nice. But Your video is boring, bad editing and not much happening. You can do better, or you can hire a video editor if you want views.

Thanks for checking out the music. If you follow the channel, you would’ve understood that this is a very “warts and all” process without a ton of editing really because it’s an exploration of the process itself as if you were looking over my shoulder as I write the song.
I’m not really concerned about tons of views if it’s not in service of the right audience so please do not tell me what I should do with my channel. It’s arrogant.
