  • It's rare that I work on machines that already run. So, I figured this was a good video to demonstrate how I get power equipment ready and listed for sale on Facebook Marketplace. In this episode I get two machines serviced and polished and I even walk you through how I photograph them and list them on marketplace.

    I appreciate you mentioning that you are good w/ prospective buyers asking, "Is this still available". As a buyer I don't ask that, because so many seller's are pissy about that. And, believe it or not, I'm never surprised when, I get a reply that's, "Oh, yeah... it sold last week, oops! I guess forgot to remove my ad". It goes both ways. I think the folks that put their don't ask rule are simply wanting to be controlling jerks & are probably lazy, too.

    I would list it for 950 and accept 900. Advertising just under the $1000 mark works best with people’s subconscious. 6 ready to go and have done 17 total since November. I do them in my off season. 😎

    I pressure wash most equipment, especially the bottom of mowing decks. Then dry and brush on used motor oil. My next step will be to come up with an old pump sprayer dedicated only to used motor oil specifically for that purpose.

      It was 40 degrees F (4.5 Celsius) when I was cleaning this one up. It’s below freezing at night too, so I can’t realistically power wash right now. But I love power washing my equipment before selling it, speeds up the entire cleaning process. But like I mentioned in the video, in early April in Connecticut, it’s just too cold still.

      Actually, I was just sharing my process. I try to get every part of a machine as clean as possible as well as lubricating everything that can be lubricated.
      I’m on Cape Cod so I totally get that! Haven’t gotten out my pressure washer yet this year, but soon! Sorry, I forgot what you’d said in the video!
      I am, however, going out this morning for the first time this year to use my garden hose and outdoor cleaning setup to wash a really filthy chainsaw for a requested flip. At least it’s easy to blow dry it and bring it back inside to go through. I have a black rubber garden hose that I only drain at the start of real Winter.

      @Kylebythecreek  Месяц назад +1

      @@Rein_Ciarfella I wouldn’t use a garden hose on a chainsaw. Use compressed air. Also, make a video of it and post it to RUclips. We’d like to see how you work on machines

    Now THIS is the kind of content I’d like to see! Just listed my first generator on FBMP. Not expecting a quick sale because it’s not blizzard or hurricane season, but it’s only my second time listing anything so I needed to figure things out and do a good listing.
    I’m very curious to see how you list equipment and what you do to prep things.

    That's funny cuz I also do the same thing. Sometimes I'll use brand new bottle of motor oil. That works well too. It stays longer and it won't dry up like WD-40. But like you said man does it collect dust. Lol😊

    Kyle I do alot of work on push mowers more than I do riding mowers. That push mower holds 16 oz. Looks like it needs the carb cleaned cause at three primes it should start first pull.
    BTW…
    Quantum Briggs 20 oz
    Tecumseh 21 oz
    And most others take around 16oz

    Hard to believe that setup has 800+ hours. Someone will get a nice machine. Down here in the deep South everybody wants something to ride. We cut grass starting in March and ending in December. Twice a week from mid-June through mid-August.

    • @Kylebythecreek
      @Kylebythecreek  Месяц назад

      Person experience. I don’t have any pie graphs or anything. Buyers always ask for a video if you dont have one. Mine as well post a video in the listing. Wouldn’t you rather express interest in a machine that you know runs and operates? The video definitely helps

    • @Rein_Ciarfella
      @Rein_Ciarfella Месяц назад +1

    The cardboard is to keep the battery off a metal surface!!! It will slowly drain without a non conductive surface!!!! It will RUIN the barrery!!!!!!!
