They were not like them. I really liked all of the Top10 this year, definitely all of the Top 5. But hell, Maneskin really blew them away. Keep in mind that at the time of Eurovision the pandemic had isolated us for more than 12 months with multiple lockdowns, some areas (like Italy) having suffered immensely. Also, all live concerts cancelled, I hadn't been to any for over a year. In this context suddenly a band comes on stage (on TV !) and has so much charisma, so much energy, that you are speechless. They sing in Italian, which surprisingly makes it even better (in my opinion), they have a female bass guitar player (Who the hell has that ? Not many male-fronted bands...), their outfits, their charisma (When Damiano walks you in .....), and finally his unique quintessential rock voice. Let's be honest, if he had fronted the Rolling Stones 50 years ago, no one would have complained either....Yes, this band has been a revelation and for me will always be linked as the turning point of the pandemic mood (at least in Europe). I would be surprised if they don't end up with several end-of-year awards !
I've seen them live twice now and let me tell you their show is INTENSE. Obviously, fans go insane near the stage, but they go hard and they just don't stop delivering song after song. I quite literally felt like their lyrics "tu portami dove sto a galla che qui mi manca l'aria" because I truly couldn't breath haha. Damiano has so much stamina, it's gets so hard to sing along while sweating in the crowd (I still tried my best but 4 consecutive songs without pause is too much for my lungs).
Personally I live for music, it has always been a very important part of my life. And when I first saw them on eurovision they made me very emotional cause I finally felt like I've found an artist who was absolutely the right fit for me. They truly are something different and amazing! Love them so much❤️
FYI due to Eurovision rules in the Grand Finale the vocal artists sing live but no instrument are played live, so Vic, Ethan and Thomas were technically stage acting…

Ciao Andy. During the last few years in Italy talents mainly linked to other musical genres have been born. This is a fact, but that doesn't mean nothing else was born. In fact, Måneskin can be considered - in the best sense of the term - an anomaly compared to the musical panorama of recent years. They seem to be shaped by the seventies, they are charismatic, eclectic and their latest works have literally climbed the charts.
One little thing about lyrics. He says “tu sei fuori di testa, ma diversA da loro” that means: “you’re out of you mind, but different to them”, but “diversa” in Italians is referred specifically to a girl o woman, so it’s “you” but referred to a girl. I think this is important because it’s a specific choise, not casual.
Great job on the reaction! Next do one of their Italian rock ballads to really get a sense of their genius. Torna a Casa (for shear beauty, especially the music video), Vent’ Anni (a manifesto of their youth), and before too long CORALINE (dark and tragic a true emotional masterpiece) the latter has an incredible live version done on radio France, look for the one on “LaFabi As” channel with an excellent translation

This song came out because of all that negativity and downgrading comments they have faced at that moment of their life. Therefore their latest album was named Teatro d'ira vol 1 (Theater of wrath/extreme anger) P.S. They have been awarded for best lyrics in Eurovision. Unfortunatelly, direct english translation on google does not reflect true meaning of this song.
