As a Taiping historian & citizen, you should have shown all the heritage buildings still standing strong today since 1875. You were only focusing on the bowling alley, the food & the lake. There are so many historical places for people to see on your RUclips. Now that is all about Taiping our heritage town known worldwide & won an award for that too.

There’s unfortunately only so much we can include in the video, but we most definitely did appreciate the beautiful architecture while in Taiping!

Heritage? I cover those, some in 360 too. Whole stretches of old properties, many built before WWII, were all demolished during or before the pandemic. Among them are houses along Jalan Hang Jebat, Jalan Panglima, Toh Kay Beng bazaar and Rex Plaza, Lido Cinema, a breathtaking Art Deco building that really should've been preserved, the old Magistrates Court/Perak Railways Building, and much more. The bottom line is, the town doesn't give a toss about heritage. The word is used for tourism, nothing more.

You should go to the state of Kelantan and Terengganu... You'll see a lot more of the Malay culture and architecture

The younger generation of Malaysians are more aware of how 'gweilo' can be perceived as derogatory but I assure you that old people don't mean to be offensive when they use that term. It's more of the case of not being educated on that matter.
