      Food! ($70/week, total $300), Gas ($80/month), Hydro ($70/month).
      Everything else was in the $20-$50 range ( steamer, electric kettle, egg cooker, toaster).
      Why would I do budgeting when the bulk of my monthly expenses are vital (food, gas, hydro) and I cannot get around them?
      It does not matter how much we spend, what does matter is to spend wisely!
      Get the best value for money! Why would you do budgeting when you eat from Uber Eats or Dash?
      Just to free your time so that you have more time to do budgeting? 😄

    This is by far the best budgeting template I've used. I've tried others from RUclips & online and found them too complicated or lacking in organization. This one is perfect and I will be using it going forward! The only thing I added was a 'credit cards' tab which was the same as the bank accounts tab.

    Really enjoying your 2025 Budget Template so far! I noticed when I add more Expenses to the Standard Monthly Budget on the Budget Overview Tab, the expenses after line 30 don't appear in the dropdown under the Expense Column under the Monthly Expense Tracker Tab. Any help would be very much appreciated!

    Hey Steph and Den, where would I put/categorize my students loans in the budget Overview of the budget tracker? Would I put it under the Saving & Investing box or its own separate category & expense in the monthly budget box? Technically I'm "paying out" instead of paying myself so it doesn't seem to make sense in my head at the moment.

    Cool stuff as always. Your grocery bill (total, not just your half) is roughly the same as mine (2 person household also) and that's a typical month for me. You can probably expect to see it increase though, as based on your past videos and this I know you guys shop mainly at Metro, and they've already announced they're restarting the gouging now that the price freeze is past.

    @Steph can you please do a video explaining your budget tracker. It looks really good but i had a few questions. For example, for a new month (feb) do you duplicate tabs or do you just change month on these tabs? Because when i change the month on tab… the data for January disappears on Annual budget tab.

    • @stephandden
      @stephandden  11 месяцев назад +2

      Hey! The budget template explainer video was in our newsletter - it went out on Thursday. Did you receive the email? 😊
      Also, you should only change the month once - marking the first month of you using the template. Once you’ve filled out the ‘budget overview’ tab, the ‘monthly expense tracker’ tab becomes your go-to tab month to month.

    I'm really liking this tracker so far but I have a question related to the explainer video (hope it's okay to ask here).
    I placed my debt payment category under the 'Stantard Budget' section, but in Steph's example, it went under 'Savings & Investing'.... should I moved it over or is it okay where it is, since we do contribute to it monthly?

    Hi Steph! Im new to your channel and have been watching your videos as I am interested in investing. First things first, getting my budget together. Do you recommend paying off debt first before investing? What about the emergency fund, should we contribute to that before investing as well? Thanks! Xo

    • @stephandden
      @stephandden  10 месяцев назад

      Hi! So glad that you’re here 😊
      This is the order we recommend -
      ➡️ Pay off any high interest debt (for example: credit card debt)
      ➡️ Build an emergency fund (in a high interest savings account - ideally have enough money put aside to cover 3-6 months of your necessary expenses; we keep $10,000 in ours)
      ➡️ Start investing!
      For debt that’s at a low interest rate, it’s up to you if you want to finish paying it off prior to investing, or if you want to do both at the same time. Dennis personally decided to finish paying off all of his student loans before starting to invest (it felt better to have that fully checked off and out of the way).
      We hope that helps - let us know if you have any other questions!

    You give me hope that living in Toronto on a budget is possible 😅Also, I don't think TFSA contributions should count as "expenses", you only really spent $2159 in January, which is pretty impressive!

      You can add that in the 'Saving & Investing' table on the 'Budget Overview' tab, then each month track how much you contributed to it 😊
