Once again John your skill and experience makes a car mechanicing video worth watching to someone who has absolutely no interest in cars, please keep them coming.

Got to love old rusty hardware. Lord knows I have run into plenty of that this week pulling the motor from my 84 Dodge truck.

    G'day John
One more interesting video Thank you for the tip of using the dust cap on the brake pipe very good idea . I have loged that one in my memory bank for later use .
Back on you vacuum pump repair ,the making of the cylinder / head gaskets you were using a ball bearing to punch your bolt holes .Well back in the 1970's i was doing the same thing for gaskets but to make it a bit easer i would take a 1 1/2" bolt and weld it to the ball bearing had 3 different sizes in the tool box this keeps the hammer and the fingers seperated plus allowes for a better hold on the paper till you get a bolt or 2 in place same way you did Thank you for your Videos .

Always great to see an old school mechanic in action, the ones we have here now are "technicians" They only know how to pull the codes off, if there is no code they are stumped. My son has a Mazda 3 which shifts a bit hard into second (apparently it is a common problem) apparently you need to get into the computer and set the shift RPM lower. I thought that would be a perfect job for the code masters at the dealership. When I went to pick up the car they told me it was a bad strut on the drivers side that is why it was shifting hard? They had a quote already to go to replace both sides, I just shook my head and left. There was something else wrong with that French car John, the steering wheel is on the wrong side?

There's just no mucking about in your shop, is there Mr. Mills? Fine bit of wrenching on the poor old rusty gal, if I do say so. I especially liked the part where you could just move the car by tugging on the tire with your hand! LOL!
If I may ask, what is the major cause of the rusty undersides to all of the vehicles you work upon? Is it salting of icy roads, or the ocean spray, or just the weather in general?
Back in Hawaii, where I was raised, there of course wasn't any icy roads, but the ocean had several ways of getting to your cars underside. Folks always drive to the beach but never think to rinse of the salt mist that the raging surf would churn up.
My favorite was a tidal pond just outside of my body shop, people just couldn't imagine that it was the ocean coming up through the storm drains, and they would plow right through and stall out their little Honda's and Toyota's, so on days with a high tide forecast we would leave our forklift with a long bit of nylon strap on it set up for hauling all of the stalled vehicles out.
We'd do it free of course, but some folks would offer a tip...funny thing would be in a year or three they'd be back with rusting floor panels and would have us fixing their cars for being so kind, he he. Good Karma I suppose.
    Aloha...Chuck

Hi John, I was wandering if you own this shop. I will say that you have
been there, done that. Having the equipment that's available makes me
ask the question. Lifts, impacts, torch etc.
As always a good video. Thanks for showing us how some of these cars
    are put together. (Marshall, TX)

Had exactly the same problem. In my case it wasn't the calliper that was seized, it was the handbrake mechanism on the the calliper. Took about 30mins, some 'WD40' and a 13mm ring spanner to sort it.

Hi Robin. Did you take the handbrake mechanism lever apart on the calliper and sprayed WD40? Has your fix lasted over the years or did you find yourself replacing the whole calliper later on?

With the calipers, is it the same case as disks? ie have to change both sides together??
