  • I spend the day at DT Performance Cars, looking around their great car selection and more crucially comparing the Aston Martin Vantage AMR to my Aston Martin Vantage GT8. Two incredible cars, the AMR is definitely one hell of a car for the money, considering they sound so similar with the titanium exhausts. What better cars could you get that are naturally aspirated V8 powered with an English-made 4.7 litre engine? The AMR also has a manual gear box!
We rev both the Aston Martin AMR and the Aston Martin GT8 to see which one has the loudest exhaust, both are fitted with the optional titanium system, a very expensive option.
Should I have bought an Aston AMR rather than my GT? Get in the comments below and let me know your thoughts.

Another great video, I’d go for a mix of the two, GT8 with manual gearbox 👍

For short trips. GT8 with a manual gearbox! Definitely

The GT8 sounds better to me. Both true drivers cars. I wish I had a GT8 but I’ve never driven a GT3 so which would be better?

    2018 Aston AMR 1502miles £194K
    2017 Aston GT8 245miles £169K
it kinda shows the typical aston pricing issue ie models drop in price like a stick from a tree, even with limited models the prices drop hard... simply due to them being a stock model with slight weaks & yet aston slaps on a high RRP.
The GT8 relied upon the hardcore GT followers to purchase them however, they are slowly selling them off at a loss.. again basically due to the car having nothing much in the way of any performance increase nor any real track focused weight loses... the example I've quoted the prices for, well its been for sale via a dealer for a long time easily over 8months
The AMR can appeal to a lot more ppl isn't a "boy racer style car!" however as time goes on these will also drop in price.
Aston Martin have always struggled in maintaining value, its either a nice car with nice engine but plagued with build quality issues, or simply a host of issues which puts ppl off buying them. either having a large heavy fuel guzzling car or a small heavy fuel guzzling car, why they don't apply technology to the engines to increase MPG (shut some cylinders off like some other manufacturers do)
unfortunately I'm in the nice car to look at, maybe to drive, however for the 1st few years these cars are money pits giving them afew more years & you'll see them sub 100K

They're so mechanically similar to a V8 Vantage S you may as well buy one of those and add the options. Those alloys can be added for 6.5k and exhaust systems can be added afterwards too. The GT8 is definitely a different story though as the bespoke body panels and exhaust system cannot be transferred over. GT8 over AMR any day. Vantage S over AMR as it's a fraction of the cost and basically the same car.

Or just buy a standard Vantage and which is also pretty much the same car without the stickers.

Both great cars but I must ask why you got a gt8 over a gt12?

There was no decently priced gt12 on the market at the time. And got sick of looking at the gt8 in my local dealer. 👍

I can't understand on such a beautiful car, you or DT Performances, can't be bothered to clean the car inside and out before filming. It looks like it's done 7000 miles let alone 700!
