Maybe a bit heavier but if you ask me computers should have bulk to them. Unfortunately as perfect a machine a macbook pro may be, i do need windows on my computer, therefore i would prefer to go with a windows laptop. There are also nice 15 inchers with great battery life out there. My concern is mostly that, and not thinnes and lightness. Give a machine with great battery life and windows and i buy that. Macbook pros are really nice though

trendensb The thing that concerns me is Photoshop relies more on the CPU power. See below from Ultrabooksreview.com The Zenbook is however paired with an Nvidia GT 840M graphics chip, a mid-level modern solution usually found on larger multimedia laptops. And as a result, the UX303LN demolishes the Macbook in games and most other apps that require intense graphics processing. Not that much in Premiere and Photoshop though, which rely more on RAW CPU power.
Both are nice and the Asus appears, arguably, to have the edge. Regarding bang-for-buck, at this point it, looks like the best value will be the 2014 Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon 14" with a 2560 x 1440 screen.

Those 2 along with the acer white ultrabook (dont remember name but its white and has glass screen lid like the asus) the dell 13xps and the toshiba kirabook are the best. They are on macbook pro's league though and the macbook has killer cpu/gpu at 1500 euros (we are talking 13 inch always) and offcourse as always a great build quality.

the ativ does not look poor, but saying it looks better than the zenbook is subjective. Some prefer the transparency and sleekness of gorilla glass over colder and more industrial aluminum, while some the opposite. To one his own. Why did Apple choose glass as the main external material for the iPhone? Regarding durability, gorilla glass is stronger against bumps and taps (does not dent like aluminum) but aluminum is more durable against higher impacts (does not shatter like glass)

Actually the Asus UX301LA beats the pants off the HP Spectre 13 for performance thanks to its 28 watt CPU and Intel Iris 5100 graphics. But the HP offers great value and quality among standard Intel 15 watt Ultrabooks.

The Asus UX301 is in a different performance class from Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro. 2.8 GHz. vs. 1.6GHz, and Intel HD 4400 vs. Intel Iris 5100. The Samsung is a more even comparison to the Lenovo in terms of performance.
The Samsung laptop is unusually thin. Can't the kybds be standard size? The laptops are too thin which makes tradeoffs on the kybd quality. And this gorilla glass top on Asus is just a gimmick. Make plain metal tops or sturdy plastic ones.

Just so you know a Gtx 670M is not the Same as an Gtx 670 the mobile version is compared with and old Ati 3xxx series and they are really bad.. if you are into gameing buy an Desktop, it will save you money and the performence are 200% better. buying a gameing laptop for 1.6$ is just stupidity if you are just gona play games.

The Asus' lid is thinner and it has some flex. The glass does not separate.

Does anyone know whether you can hook up TWO external monitors to the ATIV 9 Plus?
Not a fan of dongles since you will lose them like usb stick caps.
The asus 301 is probably the best laptop ever but it costs way too much, its not worth it eventually.

Sure, the build quality is not the same, but the Yoga 2 Pro is still pretty well built. I got it and I love it. Its the best bang/buck Ultrabook imo.
