Yeah, I’ve been meaning to do it. Skintone painting kept me from doing a lot of customs for a long time, so I wanted to share it! Thank you. I went back and forth for awhile with them! I’m excited to get to them.
@@thefiguredude Nice! I ended up finding like 6 of the Rock Then, Now, Now, Forever elites at my local toy store and ended up using it for my Tama and Tanga's. Now, finding the right torso for my Jacob Fatu elite has been a challenge.
The pale skintone is what matches the ultimate AJ torso. For some reason they made his ultimate a different skintone than every other figure he’s ever had lol
Nice work question they don’t have territorial beige is there any colour close to that you can think of I’m in the uk so it’s hard finding some of these colours
@@NathanBourque-l6s a little of both. Really, whatever is easiest. If I can avoid taking stuff apart, I will, but sometimes it’s easier to sand and everything when I take it apart.
Hey how you doing how you get this thing to work if you're painting with the same paint but we're not paying the figure they're getting all dry the pain gets super dry and they come out east how can I fix this
The skintone is typically chalky when I’m done with this paint, but once I spray it with matte sealer it looks great. I use rustoleum clear matte spray
I’ve painted a lot straight on, but priming does help for some of them. Lighter colors like yellow, orange, or pink don’t cover well at all. Grey, black, blue do cover well. Priming is the easiest way to assure it covers nicely.
Most of them are. Hausfoureen’s hesd will typically pop on, and headeration’s do sometimes. I prefer clay in all of them, cause it gives me a little more range of motion and they’re a little more secure on the neck peg.
That’s tough. For my wwe action figures, I do the pale skintone. I don’t have any experience trying to match GI joes. I can’t let myself buy them, or I’ll open up a whole new hole in my wallet lol
I’m forever not knowing how to maintain whatever brushes I use so I end up leaving them in the water but I see how u are rinsing them and drying them with a paper towel so I will try that. Can you tell me what brand of brushes you use for the details like eyebrows, eyes, lips n teeth sed do you have tutorials on that?
Yep. I have my cup of water and paper towel. Keep the brushes as clean as possible, cause I used to go through them quick. Rinsing them helps me keep the paint thin, too. I’ll have to check. Idk what brand, but I just ordered a relatively cheap set off Amazon that had fine tip brushes. I don’t have a tutorial for that, but I can add it to the to-do list!
@@edel4897 I use testors universal acrylic thinner. I had it for a long time and didn’t use it, then gave it a try. I really don’t remember where I got it. Hobby lobby would be my guess.
I’ll try that I figure that’s why the paint kinda clumps up I use the sponge a lil toilet paper and water in a Tupperware but it’s not good enuff hey I wanna show you two figures Grayson and surfer sting I wanna get ur honest opinion
@@thefiguredude sorry. What I mean is for the printed heads. There must be a hole made so that I can fit the peg on the wrestlers body and I was wondering how big that hole is because I’m looking into doing 3-D printed heads myself so I was wondering if you knew what size was by any chance?
@@ListenClub4Life ohhh i gotcha. No, I don’t really know how big to make it. If you’re 3d printing your own, I’d say to just make it hollow and fill it in with sculpting clay. That gives it a little more range of motion, while still securing the head on there.
I’ve made 100’s of customs and used apple barrel for the headsculpts on all of them. Every single figure on my Instagram has apple barrel paint on the head. Don’t knock it till you try it.

@@thefiguredudeHello. Do you paint 1/12 head sculpts for clients ?

Thanks for helping me on my journey!!!
You bet, man!!
More vids like this, very helpful!!
Will do!!
I swear the Mr.T Ultimate is SO flexible when it comes to customs. I've used it so much recently!
Is the Tama Tonga torso a Dean Ambrose Elite ?
It is. I believe it’s the same mold as AJ Styles, and I use that for a ton of guys. That is correct! One of the shield elites

Right on!! Haha. They refuse to admit that not all of them have the same exact skintone.
Yea bro im polynesian myself and we all look exactly the same@@thefiguredude

Just rustoleum white matte primer

What kind of colors should I use to paint skin tone for the rock I wanna paint a face which is Rick rude
Do you paint the apple barrel paint straight on or do you add a primer before ? I'm thinking of painting a figure so curious

How would you suggest doing like a light fade to someones haircut?
I dry brush it and slowly add the layers. I can’t explain well in words lol. I can show it on a video though!
What would be the formula for the roman/the rock skin tone?? The tama one is more like a usos skin or am I wrong??
You’re correct. That would be the Samoan skintone I used for the headshrinkers.
Might I ask what the items you placed the paint in are called?
I couldn’t find a link for these specific ones, again. I looked for paint cups with lids, I believe. I think I got those ones at Michaels.
@thefiguredude okay thank you
Can you send me a link to the spray if you don't mind

What skin tone would match the recent Bret hart ultimate MNW figure?
Tan!
Doesn't that paint brand peel?
Nope!
I seal it with RustOleum matte sealer and don’t have any issues!

@@Wrath_Figs yep, just a little bit.
Hey boss how much do you charge for custom head sculpts for 6inch figures head?
I buy all my headsculpts from a few different people. Hausfourteen, Headeration, and Headgimmicks are all people I buy from regularly.

I use apple barrel territorial beige, then dry brush it with apple barrel butter scotch!

What do you do for hair do like do you use the same matte paint or do you do a gloss to kinda make it look wet
I seal it with matte spray. I’ve tried the glossy look, but felt it just made it look cheap.
Do you have a formula for a “Samoan” skin tone?
Yes, it’s in there somewhere!
What color paints do u need to make blonde , for hair
With acrylic paint
What would you use for Asian skin tones? I’m having a fit matching the skin tone of the unmasked Movie Snake Eyes head.

Did u prime the head sculpts and if so what kind of primer did u use?
I will prime them for any skintone that’s not the tan or pale. The light mocha base for those two covers well, so I don’t have issues with those.
