I’m in high school... my school just used this video for our Bible class, and I freaked out because I recognized David Bowden’s voice all the way back from Challenge 2018!! (Those messages impacted me, I could never forget them!) Anyway, our school played this video for the students and we’re delving deep into what it meant to each of us- and of course, it impacted a lot of kids! So, thank you!!
Are you in a public school or private school that allows Bible devotions? 1965 Supreme Court changed protection of the church from government, but wrongly changed it to protect state from the church. I am glad to hear Bible devotions in your school. Please advise.
God took us from our comfort zone and moved us in a new direction to home bible study. We have milk Christians and they do not know the Old testament and when we started working ion the bible study realized how much we had forgotten as for the last 17 years was not taught out of the OT.. So we decided to start in the OT and teach there to the NT. I prayed this morning for guidance and a way to narrow down the main points and I found your channel- I should say God did, and answered my prayers! God bless you for this. This will help so much and refresh my memory on stuff I once knew!
Thank you so much for this video I watched it 3 times and it is so impacting to me. I started reading through the Bible again from the beginning feeling challenged to not look for myself but look for God but this video and your approach has inspired me to now look for Jesus that is the whole point and god's intent for me. Again thank you so much I am so looking forward to starting your plan!

It's great work and great imagery, and a good connection between the Old and New Testaments. Using the name of Jesus instead of God, in the beginning, threw me off, and I also think the project is incomplete. The new tree would not have grown had it not been for the blood of Christ that watered it. Jesus resurrected from death, which he incurred via crucifixion, which was warranted because of our sin. The blood, shed on the cross which is made from the tree of life that was dead because of sin; I like that symbolism.
Wow...I was planning on watching a movie and came across this! It's powerful! And I love the way it depicts Genesis - in a refreshing way, I've never heard before! Well done for making this so accessible! I'm going to share this with many. Thank you YouVersion
To be completely honest, i avoided these videos in favor of the other more traditional spoken words David Bowden has done. Things like Strike the Water, No Excuse, and the one he wrote for Christ is Risen by Matt Maher are some of my favorites. Man i was missing out. The imagery in this video is so powerful to me, from the idea that sinning was breaking God's creation even more to when the guy playing Joseph accidentally breaks his branch off WHILE FOCUSING ON THE PROMISE AND THE CALL OF GOD (represented by the seed). It really emphasizes exactly what David was saying in the spoken word, that no one was or is or ever will be able to avoid sin and therefore the punishment for sin except for God incarnate himself. Bruh this was powerful.
Thank you so much for this comment. Every step of this process has been a leap into the artistic unknown for me. So glad to see you interacting with the new stuff like this and that it is hitting you like it is...well, it's just really encouraging and validating. Thank you!
@@SpokenGospel to be honest i was misinterpreting what you meant by "introduction to Genesis." I thought it wasn't even a spoken word until i looked a second time. at 8:53 when "Allah" lays down the broken tree and saws off the branches, the tree resembles both a switch and the kabbalistic tree of life? A switch is what Jesus used to discipline the money changers in the temple? money changers like the red shields?
Why is Joseph represented as also defying God's plan by pulling a branch from the tree on the stage? Joseph, while not being the new Adam who would completely fulfill the righteous mission given by God to humanity, was the one who made great strides forward in preparing the way of the Messiah. In fact, *no* sin is mentioned of Joseph in Genesis. Rather, Joseph acted as a type of Christ. As the text says many times, "But God was with him"; he acted faithfully when wrongly sold into slavery, while serving Potiphar, while being imprisoned, and while ruling as Pharaoh's second in command. In all these instances, he had just as much of a chance, and even more, as the previous characters in the story to reject God's ways. Instead, he served the Lord. On the contrary, Joseph's life in the story is structured in such a way that the reader, or the Israelite child who would be listening to this story for the first time from his father or a priest, would be directed to believe that there is some hope for humanity to be restored to God, that Joseph *would* be the new Adam! However, the reader or listener's expectation is let down in the pages of Exodus, when they begin to more fully see the cycle of rebellion, idolatry, desperation, repentance, restoration, obedience, and the return to rebellion as is displayed in the life of God's people. Thus, your portrayal of Joseph rejecting God's design is both confusing and misleading.
You are absolutely right. We struggled a lot with Joseph, as he is the closest we get to a high point of hope in who would be the long-awaited Adam. However, as you point out, he is not the new Adam. And, while we don't see it in Genesis, we have to assume that while Joseph lived a life in step with the LORD, he was not perfect or sinless. This is why we chose to depict Joseph "breaking the branch" very differently from everyone else. He sets the satchel down instead of dropping it. He even turns his face away from the branch and snaps it, kind of reluctantly. This was all our attempt to express the nuance you bring up here. Please know that we completely agree with what you are saying and did our best to represent this. Since we didn't mention any direct sin of Joseph, but instead the cycle of sin and longing the book leaves us with (as you mentioned) I don't think we are being confusing or misleading. I hope this explanation helps. Thank you for standing for truth and biblical accuracy. We stand with you!
