There is a reason in Hollywood that you never see the actor have a spider on a precarious place or actually knock it off. Tarantula's are very heavy for a spider and their bellies are super vulnerable. I have mild arachnophobia too, but the spider isn't doing anything. It's not aggressive, it's more scared of you that you are of it. Now a brown recluse or something, then I agree. They are aggressive and extremely dangerous. It's very much a wasp vs bee situation (except tarantula's are far more docile than bees) one is an important creature whom has a positive impact on the eco system, the other is an aggressive asshat who kills other creatures and people.
