- Shortly after changing their name from Sweet Children to Green Day, this band performed at the annual Foreign Foods Day at Pinole Valley High School in Pinole, California. I this filmed on May 10, 1990. The quality is good because I used a professional quality Sony video camera - not a camcorder.

Look at these chumps - no tattoos, no fancy equipment and stuff. Mike with his hair, Billie with this blonde hair and black hat, pure chumps. Chumps, who have evolved into one of the best bands in the world and who are my absolute favorite band in the world. Fantastic footage. I've watched this entire 'concert' a few times and I can watch it a thousand times more.

It feels weird hearing them play a guitar riff and not hearing a wave of cheers
I love this song because I can relate to it so much. every teen has gone through a phase in their life when they wish they were younger and didn't have a care in the world, now were expected to get a job and are rushed into planning out our future.
None of those people watching there knew how big these guys would become XD
some could have even mocked
Now people would go crazy if they had a chance just to see these guys! I wonder how those people feel now that they are such a huge band.

So that's how John Kiffmeyer looks like... the only pictures I had of him were those black and white bad quality pics in the 1,039/SOSH booklet. xD
Oh and I love how little the crowd is and how they're pretty much not listening xD just compare that with the thousands of people at every GD concert now, and the millions of people who want to see them live. xD

@iceleon25 Kerplunk came out in early 92. The video is from 1990, and the drummer in the video is John Kiffmeyer, not Tre. From this I conclude that a) the songs were written and performed by the band long before the recording, and b) between the time of this school performance and Kerplunk, Tre replaced Kiffmeyer (actually, Kiffmeyer does play drums on many of the Kerplunk songs -- that recording is about the time that Kiffmeyer went off to college and Tre became the drummer (yay!) ).

@augustodarde he sounds good on the album, no matter what you think of him he was the one who got them al their early gigs which helped 1039 sell so well and subsequently kerplunk aswell. billie and mike have said they were pretty gutted when he left to go to college
Al's fine. Couldn't have picked a better drummer if Tre Cool ever had to be replaced.

@kinggagkk The only songs on Kerplunk that John drummed on are the 4 "bonus songs" at the end - it's just the Sweet Children EP that they recorded in 1990 stuck on the end of the album. Tre replaced John in 1990 afew months after this show.
