We got some MORE RFA coverage coming for y'all! What are YOUR thoughts on Swayman wanting 10M? Robertson requesting a trade? Raymond deal not being close & more? I'd LOVE to know YOUR thoughts! #GravGang #RoadTo80kSUBS
@@travzimmerman1340 If they are the best player on your team, why shouldn't you pay a goalie $10M? Just curious as to why paying forwards and D $10M+ is acceptable.
Boston completely blundered the Swayman negotiations. They went from negotiating with a 1b goalie (3-5M range) to a starter (7-10M). He also has the potential to Campbell out, if he can't handle the extra work load.
Campbell can’t succeed because of his personality. When you give him a number 1 role he sheets his pants. And blames himself for every goal. Swayman is complete opposite. So I agree with your comment that Swayman’s form might suffer because of the work load but Jack is another story. He got in his way too much.
Swayman solidified himself as a starter during his post-season run beating out Ullmark. They were supposed to rotate the starts, but Swayman was playing so well they couldn’t take him out of the net. He was always going to sign as a clear #1 starter this off-szn.
@@kenny8332 great. Keep evaluating your goalies on getting hot for 12 games. Swayman has never done it himself. He has always been a 1a/1b guy, playing with a partner that would rather give him a hug than take his job. Can he handle 10-20 more games a season? He has to prove he can handle a starting role before getting the money he wants, except Boston put themselves in a position where they need to give him the money. Boston is gambling he doesn't take a step back, but leaps forward.
@@austonsplatpoo1705Will Nick Robertson end up unsigned and play overseas this season? Unlike winger Alex Formenton, the Robertson bro isn’t suspected of criminal wrongdoing never mind having been indicted. Formenton has yet to sign a second NHL contract, and that’s so unusual for players who sign entry-level contracts whose contracts don’t end with the ability to exercise arbitration rights.
I’m a habs fan and I have to say, they didn’t even give the kid a chance, he out scored every guy on that team aside from the top in terms of ppg/time on ice, beat bobby mcmann and knies. Hopefully he goes somewhere else and actually gets a chance. 11 minutes on ice is pitiful for a guy with that talent
@@wainber1 What does Formenton have to do N. Robertson? Formenton wasn't signed by the Senators because of his alleged involvement in the sexual assault case. He would have signed a contract if that story didn't implode in on him. N. Robertson has been mismanaged by the Leaf's organization in his development and is probably why he's asking for a trade. He was treated like a cap hit and not a player the last few years with all of his call-ups just not to play but to get the team to the ceiling to max out on their LTIR.
someone needs to check on swayman agent holy shit 10 milion per year for a goalie that barely beat a non playoff team maple leafs is crazy just cause u won against them doesnt mean ur worth a lot hes not even carey price so if some team wants him they will have to giveway like 3-4 good stuff just to get this guy...
Korpisalo is ready to take the net if Swayman cant sign in time. Have fun Boston lol still dont understand why Boston traded Ullmark to sign Swayman but only shed 1mil cap space in that trade really strange in the moment and with Swayman's ask that high seems so silly
Its possible they misunderestimated the ask. I came in expecting to say one thing and I double checked the numbers (good thing) and tbh this is sort of non sensible. Dwayman needed a raise anyways- theres no getting around that- hes "the guy" in boston- hes like 6"6 or whatever and hes been groomed painfully slowly to be the starter there. Kopitar is 3 per- ull.mark is 5. Framing it as "the same caphit" is a little misleading. Unless you're talking about keeping Ullmark and trading Sway (read: sheer lunacy)- then their combined caphit would have been swaymans 9 (i know you said 10 but he'll settle at 9 with both sides grumbling) PLUS Ullmarks 5 puts them at 14-15 million in just goalies!!! You HAVE to make a move. 9 (or even 10) plus Korpi's 3 is still rough but much more pallettable. Also im not betting the over on it BUT Korpi could dust off his pads on a better Bruins team and actually warrant a pretty decent pick by the deadline (this year or next). Even if he struggles they should be able to jettison his remaining 4 years at 3 relatively easily when Bussing is ready. Its a no risk proposition. The only mistake I see here is not having a better grasp of what Swayman wanted contract wise but for my money im still moving Ullmark...
@@austonsplatpoo1705true, but I don’t want the team to be paying 10m for a goalie. He should at least be making the same range as Sorokin and Hellebuyck. Between 8-9 Million at most.
You clearly haven't seen a second of Mackenzie Blackwood last season (fist of all you think Vanecek will be the starter). Dude played unreal for the worst team and defence of the modern era. I doubt even Igor would have much better stats on that team.
I think goaltenders are way too volatile to be asking sums like 10 million. Personally, I don' think there's a single goalie in the league worth that much.
...right back to the question: how much to spend on the goalie position? Is that not the same logic that was used to send Linus to OTT? If ya could get it done with Bussi and Korpi, would ya? (OTT fans must love that one, BUT...goalies improve in the BOS system. Linus won a Vezina!) Methinks the best solution is a decent goalie tandem where one gets hot in the playoffs. Swayman was not THE answer over the past two seasons. He was good, but not Tim Thomas. And at $10M, which costs them a good forward, that's not good enough. How good would Swayman be in OTT or Anaheim? Check ALL of his stats. The Hockey Guy did recently. Consider finding that video and watching it.
It’s remarkable the Sens got a goalie back for Korpi despite his having been last season very much a sieve. Yes they sent over the Bruins a first-round pick but at least got an upgrade I didn’t think they’d get.
