Absolutely brilliant. Excellent camerawork as usual. No motoring channel on YT can beat Carfection when it comes to overall polish and feel of a video. And what a spectacular location. Is it Utah?
Shreyan Choudhary I don't enjoy PowerDrift's style of doing videos. Plus, Alex Goy is, well, a joy to listen to.😂 For me, Seen through glass comes second and motor trend(Ignition and Head2Head) videos hosted by Cammisa and Lieberman third, mainly because their videos come every couple of weeks unlike other YT channels with new content every few days. To each his own.
Great video! I really like the cinematic feel, and the letter box format. Also, how did you manage to maintain such a good light and exposure on your face during the in-car talking head bits ?
Great channel with very nice videos! I love the 21:9 aspect ratio, but please upload the videos natively in 21:9, because I have such screen and now I have black bars everywhere.
Land Rover - a tow truck driver's dream come true: Walter M, Takes one of these to Death Valley NP, turns down the dirt road to Race Track, uses the hydraulics to raise ground clearance and speeds on his way! Until he happens on a shallow gully cut across the road during last winter's storm. When the low profile tires quickly compress, the diminished suspension travel (from using the hydraulics to raise ground clearance) fully compress and in a mater of milliseconds, two tires and two rimes are destroyed. However, this is only the beginning of Walter's problems as the nearest town that has replacement parts is hundreds of miles away!
I actually like that it's not sporty, but I agree that the Discovery family ought to look more utilitarian. They're basically identical to Range Rovers from the front now.
its not particularly good looking , like a evoke on Botox , but will do its job effortlessly , and the new generation have overcome the reliability and repair cost problems of the rovers of old ,i would prefer a more rugged design given that people who want sleek stuff have other options within the brand ,
Test drove a Range Rover Sport last week and, beyond the striking looks, was somewhat underwhelmed. Wondering how this one compares as it's on the same platform.
Why does every reviewer have to complain about off road capable vehicles leaning in curves or diving on breaking. Anyone whose driven off road for a day knows that they calibrate the suspension that way to prevent head tossing when the road is really rough. It also allows some articulation to try and keep the tires on the ground to maintain some traction. Granted for the price of these things, you'd think they would have adjustable shocks to firm up on road and soften off road coupled with stabilizer bars than could uncouple you would have the best of both worlds.
I don't think the asymmetry is really the problem with the back, I think the proportions as just kind of funny, which extends to the whole car IMO. It feels like there's a crazy amount of rotund bodywork below the headlights and grill and for some reason it feels like there's an equally crazy amount of metal between the rear wheel and rear windows, it makes the rear wheels look tiny. It kind of looks like someone let some of the air out of a Range Rover sport. Land Rover's line up also has too much overlap, I have no idea how this compares to the aforementioned RR sport, or why they feel the need to have two models between the Range Rover and discovery sport.
Great review and I love the narration, reminds me very much of Richard Hammond (which is a good thing). I have been a big fan of the old Discovery and almost ordered one at the end of 2015 but stayed put when I heared it will ship not earlier than April 2016 and then the new model will have been unveiled. Well, at first I liked the new Disco but the more I see it (also in real life) the more - and this is unusual - I think it is an ugly looking car. I want a boxy old Land Rover, dammit! Also being a veteran IT guy of +25 years in business I do not like where new car designs are going. Touch screens are smeared with greasy fingers and can't be read in sunlight anymore (yeah, I've got one on my new 4x4). Give me back my switches and knobs. Seats that fold by buttons and apps? Cool, but prone to failure. When I checked out the new Disco at the Vienna car show in January it was set up with 7 seats. I wanted to lower the 2nd and 3rd rows to measure the boot and was not able to. The very nice woman from Land Rover Austria told me, that "sorry, this is not possible as the car's ignition is off". Fook that! When the warranty is over these modern cars will be scrap material. Or VERY expensive to fix.
Jerome Spiteri yeah like if youre going to make a completely ridiculous comparison, why not compare it to the mass of the supermassive black hole at the center of our galaxy.
Does it still have the stupid chassis that the Dicso 3 and 4 had? I'm not a fan of the styling. I miss the strange rear hitch thing, I don't know what it was, but I liked it, and now it's gone. I think this style works on the smaller Disco Sport, but I think it looks bad on the huge, full bore Disco
It's too soft looking for my liking. The old discovery and even the LR4 to some extent had that boxy rigid look. They looked like a vehicle you'd take on a safari. This doesn't.
Looks odd. Also, regardless of how good it is on or off road the Land Rover products suffer from below average quality which is an important factor in a place like Australia where there is a lack of dealer support in the country areas. That's why there is no substitute for a Toyota Land Cruiser
Jaguar/rover huh? Discos have V8'S!!! Where's the 5.0? while we're at it the 5.0s. Rover V8'S sounded great but never went great. My 94 ES 3.9 was the shit. But with the new 5.0? Faaaaaark! Please tell me it'll be?!
Well, I am a previous RR owner and lover of the brand - great cars - followed the new Disco today on the motorway - why are the reviews missing one BIG issue, the rear - wow its hideous!!! One of the ugliest cars from the back I have seen in quite a while, well years frankly ! Shame they have just made it into a RR clone - identity lost and not a great exterior design, Shame !!
There's no rough and tumble here, it's a poor man's Range Rover. It's ugly, and from what I've heard, not particularly well made either. I've seen more new XC90s than new Discoveries or Discovery Sports.
you can just listen to this baldy talk all day....one of the best reviewers around...great video!
I BeTrippin' y
He is PheNNomenal .. xD
u be trippin...
Absolutely brilliant. Excellent camerawork as usual. No motoring channel on YT can beat Carfection when it comes to overall polish and feel of a video. And what a spectacular location. Is it Utah?
®ioT haha you haven't watched Power Drift channel on RUclips. Just check it out.

Petrolicious, check them out. Carfection is insane I think petrolicious is up there as well
Can't wait for this to drop prices of LR4s. You guys have the best cinematography of any car reviewer.
FANTASTIC video as always. I really appreciate the attention to detail and painstaking shots. It sets you guys apart.
"Its Brown"
"No, Its sunset orange"
(Hope you get the refrence)
obviously , we are car people
I'm guessing Top Gear
Grand tour
mr dinkleberg They're hosted by the same people, i'll just give myself a tie.
Probably the most versatile, capable car you can buy right now. Nothing comes close
I really like how the back end looks
Great video! I really like the cinematic feel, and the letter box format. Also, how did you manage to maintain such a good light and exposure on your face during the in-car talking head bits ?
Inner beauty.
This guy is brilliant , very entertaining and most informative . He just got another subscriber :)
Great video quality and LOVELY shots. Good job guys :)
Great channel with very nice videos! I love the 21:9 aspect ratio, but please upload the videos natively in 21:9, because I have such screen and now I have black bars everywhere.
That rear is ugh
Sang Eeth even the front also
best carfection video by far
Where was this filmed? The landscapes are amazing, and the camera work was absolutely mesmerizing!
What a place to film! Beautiful
That closing line was so good
I want a static shot of the back end so I can decide if it's as bad as I think it is
UGLY is included at no extra cost!
-Brian Cooley
I have a typical malaysian accent, but if i had his accent, i'd never shut up.... amazing video mate!
Great work as usual. I would love to know exactly where you are. What a gorgeous place.
You turn the wheel and the car turns as well. Oh good, glad it does what every car to have ever existed can do as well. haha
I love Alex and Xcar
Best reviews on RUclips
Great as always - video and car. But the back end looks like Chinese copy
Samuel Bab Its indian brand
no it's not
its english
Great video! thanks! I have the Discovery sport and i love it. I want this car so badly
Just ordered mine. Can't wait to get it and tackle the mud.
Nice to see Alex loosening up a bit and throwing in some jokes as well. Good work chaps!
one problem ... it breaks down a lot
Great review as always! Love this guy.

please do a review of the standard amg sls would be great to see and to compare your thoughts against the gts
I actually like that it's not sporty, but I agree that the Discovery family ought to look more utilitarian. They're basically identical to Range Rovers from the front now.
Great review guys. Brill car. The 4 pot isn't bad either. Land Rover / Jaguar on a proper roll at the moment 👍
its not particularly good looking , like a evoke on Botox , but will do its job effortlessly , and the new generation have overcome the reliability and repair cost problems of the rovers of old ,i would prefer a more rugged design given that people who want sleek stuff have other options within the brand ,
Is there an SVO version coming to rival the SQ7?
I think a mx5 is a better choice? Probably better in every way and the roof comes off.
marcus ford lol no room though but cuter car
I'd buy one and make The NFS 2015 body kit
The quality of the editing and video is why I stick with Carfection
cracking review.
can't wait to get my hands on one.
carfection, where was this shot? and you have new jersey license plates.
Nice Vid Old Chap
You could drive your family up a mountain in an LR3, LR4. It stopped being an off-roader when it lost its chassis.
Awesome.. tq
Test drove a Range Rover Sport last week and, beyond the striking looks, was somewhat underwhelmed. Wondering how this one compares as it's on the same platform.
strange looking... but i'm sure it's very capable. nice review.
Carfection logo = new Mclaren livery xDDD

God-awful. Bring back the LR4 shape.
Frightened of mine getting old now if this is what it'll be replaced with.
I would rather they just brought back the MK1.
i totally agree with you
Even before this discovery came out my family drove me up the fucking wall...
The rear literally looks like someone is squeezing it to the death for example (😱)
Noti Squad where you at

This "thing" is going to need every bit of help and tech the modern car can get cos it's not going to bought based on looks.
Does every heavy car have to weigh the same as the moon?
Jerome Spiteri - The weight comes in with safety bits.
I'm referring to the analogy. even on top gear, everything heavy was as heavy as the moon :p
Jerome Spiteri yeah like if youre going to make a completely ridiculous comparison, why not compare it to the mass of the supermassive black hole at the center of our galaxy.

Is this the road from Breaking Bad?
Never been this early
quite a few contradictions including the back end is iffy but it's a good looking car
The rear end looks like an after-thought...
Bring back the old shape. With the new tech.
You wanna go off-road, get a Land Rover Discovery/Range Rover.
You wanna make it back, get a Toyota LandCruiser/Nissan Patrol.
Why cant Land Rover use the body style from the DC 100 concept. WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH THIS COMP! :(
Chris Garrity b
It's too soft looking for my liking. The old discovery and even the LR4 to some extent had that boxy rigid look. They looked like a vehicle you'd take on a safari. This doesn't.
beautiful car, wasn't happy with the build quality @2:07
Ditching the Explorer... 3... 2... 1... sorry Ford 😂. This LR is amazing, even more with that 3.5l Diesel ☺.
So then, - the best Ford Explorer ever made?
0:99 Where??
Looks odd. Also, regardless of how good it is on or off road the Land Rover products suffer from below average quality which is an important factor in a place like Australia where there is a lack of dealer support in the country areas. That's why there is no substitute for a Toyota Land Cruiser
9:38 For a moment, I thought that horrible game Unturned opened on my computer.
Crikey
Oh my god it's big mikey
XC90 or this?
Who buys new Land Rovers?
It's not fans of the old models, I think most of them would be happy if they only produced the Series 1 still.
Might be a good car, but that design leaves something to be desired.
Still prefer the old Discovery shape.
Just sold our LR3 wife didn't want to get this new one because its ugly as fuck, she likes the boxy trucks
the Discovery 4 was the best. now its just gone downhill.
You guys never reviewed a proper s class. Please do iy
I find it flawless but I drive a suzuki swift so what do I know. don't judge.
he said trunk oh know
am i the only one who feels as though the looks of the car make it seem , how should i put this, a bit plebeian?
40mpg? really?
6:25 urgency?????:-D acceleration*
That back end ruins it.
2017 land rover discovery < 2016 Maserati Levante diesel
Great offroad cars go to private schools and amazing sports cars go to garages..
Sad.
Just get the Audi Q7 which is better in every way and has enough off road abilities for 99.999% of the people who buy these SUVs
Someone may hack the car from an app
Jaguar/rover huh? Discos have V8'S!!! Where's the 5.0? while we're at it the 5.0s. Rover V8'S sounded great but never went great. My 94 ES 3.9 was the shit. But with the new 5.0? Faaaaaark! Please tell me it'll be?!
this is such a nice vehicle exterior and interior. But for off-road vehicle I'll stick to my 2017 RAM 2500 Power Wagon
Awful design. The LR4 was better.
agreed, the Disco 2 is still the beast
Rear overhang looks fugly.
it's not a Discovery...
Fake 21:9 videos make me sad :(
That rear end is hideous
F*ck me!! I am in love!
just get the g- wagon :P
Well, I am a previous RR owner and lover of the brand - great cars - followed the new Disco today on the motorway - why are the reviews missing one BIG issue, the rear - wow its hideous!!!
One of the ugliest cars from the back I have seen in quite a while, well years frankly !
Shame they have just made it into a RR clone - identity lost and not a great exterior design, Shame !!
The design is ok but it doesn't have the luxury car proportions. Looks Indian or Chinese built.

what an ugly car.
