The one problem I see with stir/shaken is that it has a gatekeeper bottleneck. Why can't the validation service provider be the terminating Network by default?
The originating network is the one who knows what caller ID belongs to what customer. So only they can validate that the number belongs to them.
Perhaps this is an oversimplification but why not just associate phone numbers with DNS names then piggyback off existing standards?
