Awesome video - thanks so much for the shout-out for the Abridge Academy curriculum 🥰 Great to hear about the other curricula out there too - so many incredible teachers out there supporting each other!
Thank you so much! I am just now entering the independent teaching realm and am looking for curricula that will address the needs of various students. I am excited to look at these suggestions in the next few days. Again, thank you!
Great videos ! Thanks a lot. With these plataforms can I be teaching 5 kids at a time , or is it to teach 1 student at a time? Also, can you tell me wich ones align by CEFR or other standard framework? Thanks !!
Hi, These are curriculums/ not platforms. These are online ESL curriculum you can use for independent teaching which means you aren't teaching on any platform or company.
@@onlineteacherdude1284 thanks. My question came up because in one of your options ( vídeo 1)says they charge more if you have more students. .... And I just saw you mention from both videos that only 2 are aligned with the framework of reference, what about the others? ..... Which ones do kids like better? Thanks !!! Thanks!!! It is great find your vídeo!!!
Hi Tim, Is Abridge really made in Google slides. She does many things I can't do. Just checking as I am trying to design my own adult curriculum and would love to be able to do some of the thinks her platform does. EG click and drag
Hi David, Katie here from Abridge Academy! Most of our slides are made in Genially, an interactive slides software 🥰 A few of the more advanced courses (e.g. the English News slides I think Tim mentioned he's been using for his debating classes over the winter break) use Google Slides - these slides are older, before we had discovered Genially! Google slides is great for older students I'd say, but younger kids love the interactivity that's possible with Genially 😊
Hi Morgan, no I don't. In fact I dont really use online assessments but some curricula online have them built in like Off2Class. I have heard of some but I would ask in some online teaching facebook groups if I were you.
Great to see these options! ESLPals is relaunching their website this month! Here's hoping it's more user friendly, same great (recently professionally proofread) lessons will be there.
When I used abridge (or any 'streaming' genially-type classes) the streaming pages often did not load well for parents in China. My internet is fine so that is not the problem. I just mention this as a heads-up , but by all means try it. I mainly use off2class (although it's too expensive-as I'm working with between 20-50 different students.) Another curriculum to mention for younger learners is bingobongo.
Thanks for the suggestion Carl for curricula. I have heard some do have issues with the genially platform. I haven't personally but its usually on the students end with wifi / stability issues.
This is usually an internet or device issue, since Zoom/ ClassIn can't actually tell WHAT you're screensharing - it's just passively sharing your screen. So regardless of whether or not you're using an online curriculum or PPT slides, it should load the same :) However, if your internet or computer is a bit slow, it may struggle to load both the Abridge website (for the slides) AND your teaching software (Zoom/ ClassIn/ whatever) simultaneously. I would recommend using a wired Ethernet connection rather than WiFi, making sure you have closed any unnecessary programs on your computer (e.g. closing your email, WeChat, etc which otherwise constantly refresh in the background), using lower bandwidth/ processing power teaching software (e.g. choose Koala Go or Zoom rather than ClassIn) and consider upgrading your laptop if it is a little old (you can have a look at how much CPU is being used when you have both the Abridge slides and Zoom open in class, aim to keep it below 30% - if it's maxing out then you need to upgrade your computer to one with more RAM). Hope this helps! 🥰
@@KatiePrescott I agree with your statement and do encourage others to try abridge since it is a good curriculum...at the same time though when you have a lot of Chinese parents trying to understand all the above (and most, from my opinion, wanting to use a tablet of some sort), it gets challenging (as the problem is generally on their end). I often have trouble getting them to understand how to use split screen (Even with the help of a liason parent in china) . 《Not that you have to use split screen》
@@FilipinaLive711 thanks, I'm so glad to hear you like the Abridge Academy curriculum 🥰 Sure, yep in which case I'd recommend checking out Koala Go as an alternative to Zoom/ ClassIn, it allows full interactivity for students using iPads and is very intuitive to use. It also seems to require lower processing power/ bandwidth than other options, so could be a good one to try out if you're having internet/computer issues. I've actually never considered using split screen - would love to hear more about the benefits of this and how your students set it up!
IMPRESSIVE VIDEO, HOWEVER PLS I NEED SOMETHING LIKE THIS FOR ADULTS AS AS WELL. THANKS IN ADVANCE
Crystal clear has material for adults and so does Off2class.

You are so welcome!
Hey! Thank you for the information. Very cool!. Do you have any suggestions for teens?
I think Off2Class is good for higher level teens maybe 16 +, and Crystal Clear now has level 8, so you would be fine using Crystal Clear ESL.
I just bought Abridge access this week! LOVE IT!!!
AMAZING! Great to hear you're loving the Abridge Academy curriculum 🥰 Hope your lessons are going well! ~Katie (from Abridge)
@@KatiePrescott I have done a few trials with it and I am beginning actual classes next week! Keep up the good work!
@@cpaigestuart Awesome, congratulations on the successful trial classes! Good luck with your lessons next week 🥰

Hi Tim, I love the idea of "Flip the classroom." However, the link doesn't work for me. Do you know if this company is still around?
Updated!
Thanks for sharing. Any ideas of something like the ones shared here but for teens (12-17)? I wold greatly appreciate it!
Off2Class would be good for teens. Also ESL Pals has some older students / adult materials. Or Engoo.
Can Abridge be uploaded to Allschool/Classpod and can it be downloaded?
Its web-based but it can be used for Allschool yes.
Hi, thanks for a great channel! I am looking for curricula (first time) for middle-school Chinese learners (ages 15). Any recommendations.
I would check out Crystal Clear ESL or Off2Class.
