- Our six-match unbeaten run came to an end against Aston Villa at Villa Park.
Villa captain John McGinn scored the only goal after just six minutes of the game, but from that point we would be the team more likely to score and created numerous opportunities, with Martin Odegaard and Gabriel Martinelli coming close.
We also had goals from Bukayo Saka and Eddie Nketiah ruled out for offside and handball respectively, on what was a frustrating evening for Mikel Arteta and his players.

If I have to take one positive from today, I am so proud of Havertz and how he is putting in consistent performances. He is really looking like a different player...... We need to speak about Odegaard tho. Odegaard needs someone to challenge him in his position where he knows if he doesn't perform he is holding bench.
The actual attacking line had so many chances and would usually take advantage of that space much more efficiently. Three midfielders out is a problem, but I don't get how he is the talking point here. He won the ball and played the attackers so many times. Same with the entire midfield really, after the first goal.

Let's not get carried away. People making it like Villa completely outplayed arsenal. It wasn’t the truth. Arsenal's finishing let them down. Gunners had lion share of possession, more passess and created more chances. It's just Arsenal started to find their groove after 20 minutes. Jesus and Martinelli had an off game. Martin Ødegaard couldn't find his finishing boots today. Havertz and Zinchenko played really well.
One think Villa did really well was executing their defensive strategy well. By paying high line they really locked Gunners in offside traps. Martínez also had a great game.

Havertz was the only person who showed real grit and played well in that shirt, yes we had a few bad calls but we should be taking our chances clinically.

Its not because we're conceded one goal..but its because we dont make any..if you have Saka,Havertz,Martinelli, Odegaard,Gabriel Jesus and just making 5 shot on goal for almost 70 percent possesion then you had a problem.
They did score two goals but the ref disallowed both of the goals one for handball and the other for offside.

"Just" 5 shots on target is not bad considering City managed 2 shots in total at the same ground.

Mateta got kicked vs liverpool and crystal got penalty after 3 minutes, like jesus gets a kick they dont care. For our goal, Havertz touch the ball barelly because of the Aston Villa player who touched the ball first with the hand and send it to Havertzs hand ? Like Why ? Even if we missed clear chances, the penalty and the decision about havertz goal are not right, with those 2 wrong decisions they took 2 goals from us even with us being clinical. I hjave only one word and its why
Tifo did an analysis of Rayas positioning so aggressively on the near post and how it creates a lot of space at the far post. Guess they were right

We were supposed to at least draw the game, but we weren’t clinical. Aston Villa’s offside trap was immaculate and we came with a tactic similar to what they played against three days ago. There were a lot of misplaced passes in the first half and Arteta used his usual tactic despite having watched Man City’s loss at Villa Park
Tactically we were fine. We dominated the game but just missed some chances that typically we’d score.

Nobody thought he is that good, and when got sold, was because "maybe he had a good half a season and is form won't last"... Arteta was wrong. Emery was wrong, Wenger was wrong. Martinez should had been the starter since 2015 season. But Arsenal payed 14M for Cech, than 25M for Leno, than 28M for Ramsdale, than 6M for Turner, than 3.5M for Raya. 55M payed to have worse keepers than the one that was warming the bench. Look in the mirror and answer for yourself: if Martinez was the starter, last year, instead of Ramsdale, in the last 10 games, who would have been champions? City or The Gunners?

I seen vision of this defeat from last game. And still not fade away for the next. Rest saka attack from the center ,3 touch on transsition the ball must already on the feet of the striker face to face with the GK. Forget this one , start for next game.

aston villa sure is something this season
Mikel being touchline banned I think had an effect on us, not being able to give instructions and commands in real time was definitely a drawback, you could see by how sloppy we were in the final 3rd, chance after chance missed. I should say fair play to Villa but this just felt like we were robbed in VAR and refereeing decisions, combined with no shooting accuracy was unfortunate.
Not every decision is var problem, that was a clear handball stop feeling cheated all the time and fix up
@@anthonygeorge6565 it hit Douglas Luiz's hand first which they blatantly ignored, Havertz hands were also close in tight to his body. Jesus should have had a penalty all day too, there was mega controversial decisions made to talk about. You cant fix the poor officiating!

Really frustrating match. But for me the concern is that how we still lack the bench depth despite all the spending so far. Yes agree there have been injuries but there wasn’t any player from the bench that could have change the game yesterday and that is really worrying.
Anyway in my own opinion the priorities for Jan window is a fullback, CB, an out and out no.8 (still feel that both Havertz and Odegaard and no.10s and you can’t play 2 no.10s on the pitch)
A striker on loan will be a bonus (I see Jesus moving to RW as Saka backup if we really do sign an out and out striker).
I mean to be fair we really have an injury crisis.

Tony Adams called it. White at fault for the goal once again. He tracks back but i stead of tracking his player he runs into the Cb position, saliba sees him and moves to the rb position leaving white who is a poor defender as the cb. If he carried on down the right saliba eoukdve stepped into the goal scorer and most likely stopped the goal as he can defend.

We played well today, just really unfortunate to miss chances… should have had a penalty, you cannot kick someone… and the handball did hit his hand but I it’s not like his hands were in an unnatural position but it’s in the rules of the game so I understand why it can’t be given. Not sure if it hit the villas players hand first though…
Villa fan in peace, the handball rule is a strange one, you are right it does hit cash on the arm first but he's less than a yard away from Havertz so he can't do anything and it's not like he moves his arm toward the ball. I also think they are that close to each other that when it touches Havertz hand it's purely accidental, with the penalty I have seen them given but luck was with us today, usually these decisions even themselves out over a season, good luck for the rest of the season and hopefully we're still within a point of you at the end as it will only mean gd things for us
