How can you listen to Arteta here and really think he's NOT the right guy for next season. He's never used City's domination and consistency as an excuse - he sees it simply as the standard needed to achieve success and he's clearly passionate and driven to take this club back to where it should be. Next season is definitely going to be his biggest to date and one where he really needs to show he can deliver something special but as of right now he's clearly the best man to keep this progress and momentum going forward.

You do realize that 89 points is Arsenals second best points tally ever behind the invincible. but Man Citys best is 100. This has been Arsenals best season for a long time but a poor season for City yet they have won 3 trophies and can win a 4th in a few days time.
We didn't win the title but we can be proud of the progress we've made. We've got the character and mentality to go toe to toe with City now. If we build on that, fix the mistakes we made and get in a few major transfers, I'm confident we can reach a new level and challenge for silverware.

I don't quite know how we didn't lose more games this season, we probably should have lost at Forest and Liverpool for a start, maybe even Bournemouth too, but somehow we only ended up with three losses, and it's those that have made the difference.

Next season it will be bargaining, then depression and then acceptance. If you look at the log it will show you that we actually did better than last season in the league. we scored more goals, only conceded one more and have more points while winning 2 other trophies. This has been a great season. Even though we drew with RM and lost on penalties, we inflicted psychological damage on them because they would not want to face Man City again. Next season this team will be stronger. The players that City have earmarked all have one thing in common, they are good at playing through balls. Haaland is getting a team built around him.

That Aston Villa game was where we lost it. Clawed our way back to first place and Arteta gambled with the starting 11 for the first time in 18 games. Which makes no sense why change anything we literally won 10 on the bounce. So frustrating as it was in our own hands city lost the day before
I was mad at that squad two but we had a champions league knock-out game coming, and i believe he was way into his own head trying to rotate
And when you see Palace literally slapping the shit out of that dross Villa team and after that shocking Arsenal win, Villa didn’t play well against any top 8 team, particularly away, makes it more painful. Improved in every metric compared to last season which is all you can ask for, however there’s clearly still obvious room to improve in general, which is a source of optimism. It was only a few seasons ago that the gap between Arsenal and Man City was light years - now they’re not too far behind and realistically there’s more chance of winning something with steady incremental improvements rather than relying on a miracle season like has happened in the Bundesliga this year, since that sort of thing happens so rarely.
People will talk about the Villa game, Son’s miss etc but that’s just recency bias; over the totality of the season there were other draws and losses that could have been different. There were late winners that could have not gone in, goals conceded that were chalked off etc. Ultimately the first half of the season wasn’t good enough compared to the second, with that dip in form around Xmas being fatal. Just have to be better next season and hope they can do what Liverpool did which is have a blinder of a season and demoralise City enough that they they never pick up the steam to go on a stupidly long winning streak. No easy feat.
Or we can hope for a global pandemic that destabilises the entire league. It literally took an 'act of God' for Liverpool to win the league. Klopp won 1 league title in 9 seasons...this City era is just unreal.

Winning against Fulham comes at a cost energy and mentally wise, which is difficult to harbor throughout all the games. Monstrounsly so if you want to compete with Pep and City. So it's not so simple as that, to beat Fulham after all the pain, injuries, pressure and expendure...maybe would have compromised the other games.
We'll never know, but the best team wins the league. End of story. It could have been Arsenal, but they just turned out to not be the best

You know this man has transformed our team we have come from almost middle of the table to the top we led most of the way and perhaps u could argue that it was also down to a bit of luck as we played just as well and often better arsenal don’t even have as many players as man city we are the youngest team we did have few injuries and when u don’t have as many replacements as msn city does and still come within two points this is no mean feat im proud of our team and manager and when we win we will dominate for a long time ❤

Lol this admission is testament to what Liverpool n Klopp has been doing repeatedly for multiple years. Glad he realizes what a powerhouse City is and there's one team who successfully stopped them in the last 7 years. So much perfection and yet they lost by 2 points. Remember Liverpool lost it twice by 1 point and it was 92 and 98 pts. To all Arsenal fanbase, acknowledge the job Klopp has been doing without much success than saying only 1 league title to show. Two years ago when the project really started to take shape how old were, Saliba, White, Ødegaard, Gabi, Saka, Gabriel, Tomi, they were all under 24 most of them 23 - 20.
In footballing terms were are kids. Arteta has built a young team, Timber is 22 as well, and has turned them in a force in European football and PL title contenders for some time to come. Very few of our players are in their peak player profile age ranges.

It is clear that Arsenal's first 11 is capable of going on an incredible run to get massive points on board judging by the second half of this season and the first half of last season. However the backups are not good enough to maintain those runs and go far in cup games. Taking untimely long term injuries into account too, it is impossible to topple this City team. It is obvious the players they need to move and what the replacements should look like. They go will go further when they do that.

This was their opportunity. Lots of injuries to key players for the other teams. Scraping past some of these same weakened teams 90+ minutes. Next season will be harder even with a good transfer window. Teams will be back to full strength, some teams will strengthen in the window, and strategies will be made on how to tackle Gabriel and Saliba. But cant take it from them, a good run it was, playing good football, knowing when to go full out, knowing when to lock it down cuz 1 goal will win it. Absolutely great season.
