  • 1977 Dodge Power Wagon Junkyard Find. Well here in one you dont ever see in the wrecking yards anymore. We appear to have a 77 Dodge Power Wagon that has recently hit the yard. This 4x4 single cab long bed looked to still have the 440 big block under the hood. Too bad it caught fire and ended its life. I don't think it would have been junked otherwise. I do believe that big block was still in good shape.

Willing to bet it was the ammeter gauge in the dash that caused the fire it's a common issue on these older dodge trucks.

When I was in elementary school, an early 80s Ram caught fire in the parking lot. The inside was completely guttered, while the outside body shell was fine.

You have no idea how much I wish I had come across that tuck in a local wrecking yard. Oddly enough, that "clapped out" wreck has every single OEM part that my 1977 D200 Adventurer needs. The (1/2/3) jack, handle, & lug wrench, (4) LR taillight lens, (5/6) both of the lower aluminum trim strips for the RF fender, and "most importantly" (7) that nice chrome front bumper. What a nice find that would have been.

Besides the Avocado Green, my second favorite color is Halloween Orange followed by Dijon Mustard Yellow & Grabber (Ford) Blue. The 440 looked surprisingly decent on the inside, but I still think it's a gamble for $200+
If you really wanted it, let the yard know it came from a burnt car. Gonna be a lot of work to tear it down and build it back up. Personally, I'd just have space available to better examples. Although the Galaxie emblem is broken, it's still a good decoration piece for the blank space in the wall!

@@ClassicRideSociety You made a wise choice I think. You'll find another 440 that's a runner that's not so crispy. The accessory items add up when they are damaged or missing.

@@ClassicRideSociety Wow, someone was desperate! Maybe the block was okay. But then again, you do have two 440s and a whole bunch of engines acquired from over the years. You'd be spoiled to choose one to rebuild!

They got around the EPA laws with that one by using a loophole in 1978 with trucks and emissions. Clever at the time.

Too bad my local junk yards are modern crap. Very hard to find old Square Body Chevys and OBS Fords. Saw a nice looking square body Suburban in one of them that was in amazing looking shape but was in the area of the yard that's fenced off where they pull the core parts.

Whoa Nelley, lots of filming footage I'm sure to come. Lots of moldy oldies here. From the top: W for 4WD conventional cab, 1 for 1/2 ton truck, 4 for Conv Cab W/ Sweptline, Hi Line Wagon (Royal Sportsman), B for 6,001 to 10,000 # GVWR rating, D for 440 V8 with four barrel, 7 for 1977 model year, S for Warren #1 (Michigan) Truck Assembly and the rest is the production sequence. W10 is the basic 4x4 1/2 ton model, 6100 is the GVWR rating for the truck. Warren Truck is still open today and produces Ram Trucks, it also produced the Dakota for a time.
Whoa Nelley, hotsy totsie, burn baby burn, it got hot as Bojangles under there. LOL.

That's interesting.. 1/2 ton rear axle for sure, but appears to have 3/4 ton springs and frt axle at a glance. If the T.O.N plate was still there, we could know for sure. Either way, a factory 440 4x4 in a 1/2 ton is rather rare.

    • @googleusergp

      @@adamtrombino106 The second digit of the VIN would have been a 2 for 3/4 ton and 3 for 1 ton. It's a 1, so it's a 1/2 ton truck.

It's a 440 - you'll find someplace for it. And while the grill isn't pristine, I'd hang it in my room. I'm a fan of the late 60's-mid 70's MoPar vans and trucks.

All Four wheel drive Dodge trucks from 1972-1980 regardless of their trim packages were called Power Wagons. Even if they didn’t have the badges. The vin on this particular truck says W100 W means four wheel drive (Power Wagon) and a D means two wheel drive (not a Power Wagon). Also you can see that the Power Wagon emblems have been removed from the hood.
