Daedrin hes 28. So they are older cards. One of these days he wants to take them down to the comic store that seems to be the magic headquarters in town.
If you dont know anyone with a little knowledge who can help you check up on the cards and potential worth atleast try to figure it out anyway as theres a chance the people at your local gaming store will gladly take your cards without giving you the real value.
They need to do a follow-up video where they introduce the Commander format. 100-card singleton, 1 Legendary Creature as the "Commander", and the rest of the deck is built around it. Hours of fun!
Its game night, for new players...they get starter decks. Its not like prerelease or draft where u have to sleeve, its just a simple 30card deck with simple rules to help them get the gist of the game. My LGS had one of these events recently, got a fullart foiled walk the plank for bringing a new guy:3
I'm really glad you guys decided to do this. MTG is really and truly the most fun and most unlimited game you can ever play. There are septillions of decks and combinations and a massive array of things to do. Anyone can learn to play the game at a basic level in just an afternoon. Hop on Google and find a local card shop near you. Take your friends, learn the game, and enjoy one of the best things that you can ever experience at a table.
Square Squid Studios Yeah, twelve bucks for a draft set that entertains you for the entire night? People pay way more for way less enjoyment all the time. As far as constructed decks go, you can invest as little or as much as you like. You can build a cheap aggro deck for less than fifty bucks and use it in tournaments for over a year.
Square Squid Studios you could just play pauper, only common cards are legal and a top tier deck is round about $50. You then have a top tier deck for life.
People talking about how much the game cost to buy cards....Do you not realize that people pay $100 + up to $1000 for computer game skins and cards that can be erased at anytime with no trade in value? Magic is amazing I can actually sell my cards for good value, Ive playe dhearthstone for 3 + years and have spent well over $500+ dollars that I cannot get back or sell back to the company. Magic is a Lovely game and worth the investment. I just started playing bought several bundles and was excited to find some good cards. I sold them and built a standard deck by upgrading a challenger deck in which I have cards of good value that I can still sell to switch decks or invest more money. Amazing game. When I buy magic cards I am actually excited to open them and know that I can trade and sell things to get things that I need. I hearthstone if I get a crap legendary I have to disenchant for half value no refund of money and cannot craft another legendary. A guy straight up gave me $35 for lyra and I was able to go buy cards to build a deck. This does not happen in most games that you play these days offline or online( definitely not online)
Gonna make a sad reply 😂 But I got kicked out of my old D&D group because my ex over reacted to me being happy without him and he heard from one of the people I tried to make him jealous which I wasn't even though he still insists on believing that 😂😂😂 all I was doing was showing him I wasn't the worthless toy he made me feel like and I don't need him. 😂😂😂 Post done
Give them all Commander Precons. Best format and the best way to begin playing the game. Whole 100 card deck and then began searching for ways to upgrade it over time.
Magic the Gathering is such an interesting game that is vastly different much like Yugioh and Pokemon. One of my Illustration instructors had actually designed a few cards and did it all in Oil Painting on a larger to scale canvas so that it could digitally be smaller for it to fit on the card itself.
Arabian Nights, what a fantastic set. It's hard to get a hold of those cards now, I've been hunting for some for a few years now. I hope you kept hold of yours. :D
Ashley kitchin heh I've got shoe boxes full somewhere, I dont think I ever got a Black Lotus but I do remember only collecting rare and uncommon cards only. Lol I should dig em up.
I run a small Magic service, it's free to use. Take a picture of your cards and we'll create a full comprehensive list of what's shown and their prices. We'll also make offers on collections of interest based on our appraisal. I do this often during the Summer when people are having a clear out. If you're interested let me know and I'll provide a link to our website.
I never really got into the game but my stepbrother loved it so when he lived near me and didn't have a place/room to hold tournaments I would let him hold them at my house. I noticed that people would really get into it and it can get very intense.
I haven't played since the 90's. I think the last starter pack I bought was when Ice Age came out. No idea what Hexproof is. Looks like they've added alot more to the game.
Chance Ricca It's always exciting though to introduce people to this game given its long history. I shared it with my brother and people who walk in the game shop.
Kerry Cronic Vlogs it's pretty fun, if you did get into it, you should get a rookie deck from cardkingdom.com they do good stuff and the decks are cheap.
Hi there. I'm a little late, but if you want to get into Magic, some places actually give out free pre-made decks. You could check with local places to see if there are ones near you. Since I am so late, maybe you're already playing, if so then have fun. If not, have fun anyway, but slightly less fun, because Magic is fun.
Played MTG since I was a mere baby... For my family it's a right of passage. I'm 19 and we have had family competitions going since I was three. I love me some MAGIC!
Yes... Because apparently nerd culture is mainstream now but the gutter trolls that play Magic are still not welcome. We accept nerds but not the ultra nerds, amirite?
Whenever I try to teach new players, I always go with this as a summery, "OK, You and I are both powerful wizards about to do a grand battle! Our decks are our spell books, and the cards themselves are our spells." Afterwards, while setting up, I ask what card games they have played and try to find some common ground: EXAMPLE: Pokémon: Energy are lands and Trainers are Sorcery, Enchantments, and Artifacts (Pkmn TCG doesn't have instant...Best way to sum it up is It's MtG without instances! Xb )
ABC EFGZ the pokemon cardgame straight rips half it's rules and half it's gameplay from mtg, probably because they are both produced by wizard's of the coast.
He says you need to get your opponent to 0 before you get to zero but there are many ways that’s not true. Poision counters, milling cards and ways you can go under 0.
Cbg G *shudder* I got out of yugioh around the time of xyz, and then I got into Magic. Yugioh focuses too much on archetypes and interactions between specific cards, whereas mtg has much broader synergies and tribal ways to build decks. And it would be pretty much impossible to do a booster draft with yugioh cards.
Get outta here. One with nothing, in response Snapcaster Mage. One with Nothing resolves, discarding Temporal Tresspass, then Snapcaster resolves, giving Tresspass flashback, exile the rest of graveyard to cast Tresspass and take another turn.
Little do they know that their new found game will soon eat their wallets.
Amen
Nothing like a $100+ playset of fetchlands!
Brad Young spoken like a true mtg player 😂
Brad Young Cardboard Cocaine
I would also feel embarrassed if they had to play some of the rude nerds as well that will put them off quick enough.
Noobs. The true opponent is the money you'll spend lol
I figured coming from Pokémon
Isn't THAT the truth 😂
My boyfriend found 2 binders of these cards in all his childhood stuff. He squeeled like a little girl when he found them.
Well, depending on his age and the cards, they could be worth a pretty penny too!
By a pretty penny you mean a few thousand dollars.
Daedrin hes 28. So they are older cards. One of these days he wants to take them down to the comic store that seems to be the magic headquarters in town.
Trust me, its better to auction them on ebay or sell them to me!
If you dont know anyone with a little knowledge who can help you check up on the cards and potential worth atleast try to figure it out anyway as theres a chance the people at your local gaming store will gladly take your cards without giving you the real value.
Melissa is incredible. I’m glad to see magic hit more of a mainstream appeal.
Keith is the reason I'm watching this, they had to clickbait me
You clickbaited me with Keith
DVMN you mean grant from college humor
Wish this was more of a constant thing... Fully agree, smelling the cards and feeling the sleeves. Nothing else like it.

MTG is great
StockLilves I love mtg
li wu YUGIOH is budget vintage
But pokemon is better
Magic is amazing.
StockLilves I play pokemon tcg but I wanna get into mtg
This video should have been longer.
Have them build decks next.
StockLilves With their own money. Let's see how much disappears
Jeff Reyes 👍
They end up putting it on Buzzfeed's tab. Buzzfeed files chapter 11 the next day.
What colour do you play with yourself? I'm black & green
StockLilves YES!
They need to do a follow-up video where they introduce the Commander format.
100-card singleton, 1 Legendary Creature as the "Commander", and the rest of the deck is built around it.
Hours of fun!
Mtg veterans cringed and got exited by this.
Liam Klingberg we must tell the world, evangelize the nation to planeswalkers!
Me! Bro imagine them with LC and Planeswalkers, And equipments
Liam Klingberg *excited
It's never fun watching newbs play but everyone starts somewhere :)
They...They actually did it! I requested this on one of the The Try Vlogs, and they did it!
Great suggestion
It really makes me smile seeing how happy everyone is to be teaching and learning about the game
So uh they're playing without sleeves & it hurts to watch.
i also think they are playing with premade decks. like they didnt build them themselves.
I KNOW RIGHT
Its game night, for new players...they get starter decks. Its not like prerelease or draft where u have to sleeve, its just a simple 30card deck with simple rules to help them get the gist of the game. My LGS had one of these events recently, got a fullart foiled walk the plank for bringing a new guy:3
is that a thing?? ive been playing for three years and would rather punch myself than use sleeves, i cant stand them lmao 😂
RedFlavoredPie yup hurts the soul
I'm a big fan of mtg and I'm happier that people are taking about it more. Thank you buzzfeed
yeah i've also noticed the sudden rise of people taking about mtg
srry
I'm actually very pleased with this, a buzzfeed video made me feel more than disgusted. It was great.
Watching them freak out over packs with mainly 1/2 cards... reminded me of when I started playing.
I'm really glad you guys decided to do this. MTG is really and truly the most fun and most unlimited game you can ever play.
There are septillions of decks and combinations and a massive array of things to do.

" im seeing a ripped man cobra" "workin'out 5 days a week"_"with the cobra trainer", lol
What they don't mention is how much you end up spending on cards... Yikes!
Square Squid Studios RIGHT!?!?!?
Square Squid Studios Yeah, twelve bucks for a draft set that entertains you for the entire night? People pay way more for way less enjoyment all the time. As far as constructed decks go, you can invest as little or as much as you like. You can build a cheap aggro deck for less than fifty bucks and use it in tournaments for over a year.
Square Squid Studios you could just play pauper, only common cards are legal and a top tier deck is round about $50. You then have a top tier deck for life.
Why not play commander? $40 for a deck that can actually stand a chance out of the box, and can be upgraded or rebuilt whenever you like?
Elliott Readings god I wish CFV was that cheap ;;)
I love magic. I just spent my whole weekend at all of the ixalan pre releses
I missed them :(
I spent my weekend running all of them lol
Same same
Ayla Jehlicka same!
I’ve been playing magic now for over 10 years. Love this game and love to see others play as well 😊🤗
People "talk about" Magic: The Gathering*
People talking about how much the game cost to buy cards....Do you not realize that people pay $100 + up to $1000 for computer game skins and cards that can be erased at anytime with no trade in value? Magic is amazing I can actually sell my cards for good value, Ive playe dhearthstone for 3 + years and have spent well over $500+ dollars that I cannot get back or sell back to the company. Y’all I LOVE THIS GAME! Everyone makes fun of me for it
Somebody stole my deck of cards too because they thought it was nerdy
LeShawna Togninalli my school has a whole club about MTG!! Over 60 people are in the club
i like it too bought a deck then my homie who played it moved away so ive never actually played anyone irl just online lmao.
They are just jealous that they can't enjoy something so complex and strategical like you can.
Same!! I have garruk and a bunch of planeswalkers
I played this a lot in school.... I stopped playing when the people that I did play with moved away or became distant.... I do miss this game though
This makes me want to play again, I haven't looked at any of my decks in like two years.
I love magic the gathering its such a fun game when you learn it fully
I don't think it's possible to learn it fully
D&D (Dungeons & Dragons) night has to be your next video for sure (Obviously with the Geek and Sundry cast)
Hellenix Edm YES
Try Guys try D&D!!!
But Matt Mercer has dm
They've already done an episode dedicated to D&D
Gonna make a sad reply 😂 But I got kicked out of my old D&D group because my ex over reacted to me being happy without him and he heard from one of the people I tried to make him jealous which I wasn't even though he still insists on believing that 😂😂😂 all I was doing was showing him I wasn't the worthless toy he made me feel like and I don't need him. 😂😂😂 Post done
YES!!!!! I love this game!!!!! Been playing for about 6 months!!!!
"The Most Recent Set" gives out Amonkhet packs LOL
They probably filmed it when that was the most recent set
Technically Ixalan hasn't released yet, so Amonkhet is still the most recent set to have been officially released
PayosboyGames - Minecraft, Tutorials, and More! Boi hour of devestation is the most recent as in today
Ian Lide Then it should have been hour of devastation
Ian Lide hour of devastation is most recent
They're so funny that they think they learned it in one day.
Minute to learn, lifetime to master.
Time to teach them the stack, than they’ll quit lol
#TeddyBH20 #steadyteddy #teddy2gloves #5Hunnit Teach them banding and show them Illusionary Mask. That will go out well.
#TeddyBH20 #steadyteddy #teddy2gloves #5Hunnit pssh after the stack, it's on to lesson #6 layers
wait till they play against bogles
Give them all Commander Precons. Best format and the best way to begin playing the game. Whole 100 card deck and then began searching for ways to upgrade it over time.
FOIL FULL ART YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Magic the Gathering is such an interesting game that is vastly different much like Yugioh and Pokemon. One of my Illustration instructors had actually designed a few cards and did it all in Oil Painting on a larger to scale canvas so that it could digitally be smaller for it to fit on the card itself.
i went to emotional wedding yesterday
Even the cake was in tiers
*Ian Lambert* Ha. Ha. Ha.
I'm loving how the teddy bear man is slowly melting under the lights.
Who remembers "The Black Lotus"?
What magic player doesn't
Mad Hatman, interesting. So you can't use old cards anymore?
Arabian Nights, what a fantastic set. It's hard to get a hold of those cards now, I've been hunting for some for a few years now. I hope you kept hold of yours. :D
Ashley kitchin heh I've got shoe boxes full somewhere, I dont think I ever got a Black Lotus but I do remember only collecting rare and uncommon cards only. Lol I should dig em up.

YOU BROUGHT GAVIN!!!
I was really nervous they won't like it
Omg it's Melissa on a buzzfeed video! I love mtg. Such a great game. I'm going to Providence RI for an event this weekend!
Does anyone else play mtg but the commander version
Commander is so much better! I haven't played standard in months.
joe mint I only played standard the day I learned how to play MTG, after that I just never played it again, only commander.
I only play commander and modern. I'd play legacy/vintage but that costs wayyyy too much money
Try pauper, very similar to legacy but not so bad on the wallet.
I like standard, pauper, cmmander and modern.
The best video I have ever wanted to see. Given that I've played Magic for 3 years now and there isn't much people that are willing to try
Wow! WotC finally doing some advertising and bring in new people. This is so awesome!!!
I never really got into the game but my stepbrother loved it so when he lived near me and didn't have a place/room to hold tournaments I would let him hold them at my house. I noticed that people would really get into it and it can get very intense.
I’m glad that buzzfeed did this cuz I love the game magic the gathering 😄
I haven’t updated my EDH deck in a couple years ... time to get some boosters and spend most of my money.
Magic is my favorite thing in life besides maybe my wife lol
that guy my husband would say the same thing lol
Are you Ned Fulmer????
Snowwulf78
Plot twist: He's actually your husband
I love "AlmondCat", and Hour Of Dev. The theme is so good, and I love the cards almost as much as the Dominaria set.
Theodd1sout needs to see this.
Eevee YES
Been a while since y'all posted a video I actually wanted to watch.
clicked on it right away. my favorite card game
I haven't played since the 90's. I think the last starter pack I bought was when Ice Age came out. No idea what Hexproof is. Looks like they've added alot more to the game.
As some one who plays MTG this hurts me
Chance Ricca It's always exciting though to introduce people to this game given its long history. I shared it with my brother and people who walk in the game shop.
Yay, it is Melissa and Gavin from Game Knights and Magic: The Gathering! Love them both!
Ive never played magic.
You will. You must. And you'll never go back.
Kerry Cronic Vlogs it's pretty fun, if you did get into it, you should get a rookie deck from cardkingdom.com they do good stuff and the decks are cheap.
What a great time to start.

I love Magic!
xD Lmao "there's always gonna be elfs, orcs, and... two handed swords" 1:14
If they like magic they should learn to play edh in mtg next they probbliy like that
joshua mcatee EDH is the best and most fun format
That’s the main game-type my husband and group of friends play. 3-headed giant is fun with the right people, too.
Archenemy and planechase are great too really get swept under the rug but yea would have to agree edh by far the best
The unsleeved full art foil mountain killed me
i feel like this should be on buzzfeed blue
so nerdy
Sycorex RBLX everyone plays card games.
magic is different
I feel like you should be 6 feet underground in a casket, but beggars can't be choosers huh?
why is that
Yes... Because apparently nerd culture is mainstream now but the gutter trolls that play Magic are still not welcome. We accept nerds but not the ultra nerds, amirite?
That entire Man Cobra tangent was everything haha
MTG the game where your wallet determines the winner.
Is it too late to get into MTG? I never played but I always loved the art on the cards
Do more mtg
I played a bit of Magic: The Gathering in elementary school. It was very fun!
ironic. I just finished watching TCC and this came out lol
Derek Hwang same
The Master sets failed video right?
This needed to be an extended version i need the 1 hour version
Next Dungeons and Dragons!
Whenever I try to teach new players, I always go with this as a summery, "OK, You and I are both powerful wizards about to do a grand battle! Our decks are our spell books, and the cards themselves are our spells."
Afterwards, while setting up, I ask what card games they have played and try to find some common ground:
EXAMPLE:
Pokémon: Energy are lands and Trainers are Sorcery, Enchantments, and Artifacts (Pkmn TCG doesn't have instant...Best way to sum it up is It's MtG without instances! Xb )
I LOVE MTG YEEEEEESSSSSS
This is so cool, I have been wanting to try MTG since the Geek and Sundry + Day9 show was on, getting a primer from actual devs would be awesome
This game is the original Pokemon game, pokemon was based off of this game
LeShawna Togninalli, no.
ABC EFGZ the pokemon cardgame straight rips half it's rules and half it's gameplay from mtg, probably because they are both produced by wizard's of the coast.
Pokemon has been produced by the Pokemon Company for a long time now, Wotc started out with Pokemon TCG but lost the license a long time back.
While you are wrong MTG did come out around the same year Pokemon did (One year difference) MTG did come out before most of the more iconic TCG's
She means the Pokemon card game, not Pokemon its self. Magic was around for years before the Pokemon card game.
I have been playing this game since 1997. So happy MTG is getting more recginision.
P.s my main deck was all angels and I made a almost all free deck and elf and troll squirrel deck.
I love mtg.
You should have them play booster draft with the booster packs
Anyone want to buy a huge box of Magic cards?
All magic players
How much, how many, what sets, how many rares and mythics, etc.
Nihilist Amanda me.
is this still a thing?
I never realized how much time buzzfeed takes to upload these videos, in the time they released this vid, two more sets have been out and played
They better not diss my favourite card game.
Play Netrunner! The original design is by the same guy who made Magic but it's been revamped by a new company and it's my favorite game!
Wait, buzzfeed did not throw in sexism or racism into this video? Wow, I am surprised!
No, but almost everyone in the video was gay, so I guess they thought that covered it.
I still would love to see this with one person that is a casual player and plays
It came out before yu gi oh
Don't lose your token cards kids.
I love it when I'm scrolling through youtube and it says video posted 55 seconds ago
Who feels like buzzfeed videos comments always get tons of likes
Never played magic the game gathering, but out of curiosity I’m willing to give it a try.
Cards without sleeves... Ughhh the cringe...
Not bad. I love watching videos related to mtg, as a player who loves playing magic.
Hi people of the ten comments so far
Insert “I’d tap that” mana joke here.
DO YUGIOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Artwork is most certainly a thing with some players. I had someone offer me $5 per specific swamp.
Best card game ever
the most recent set is ixalan BTW not amonkhet
Do yugioh next
Shaun Banagan hell them trying to learn all the summoning mechanics plus the new links would be fun to watcj
lol I was going to comment the same thing
Eww
Yugioh's a clusterfuck now.
I Want to Buy a Kitten yeah with this new system its like they said hmmm people liked 5ds huh also zexal too... lets kill both of them
He says you need to get your opponent to 0 before you get to zero but there are many ways that’s not true. Poision counters, milling cards and ways you can go under 0.
Play Yu-Gi-Oh! next!
Cbg G
*shudder* I got out of yugioh around the time of xyz, and then I got into Magic. Yugioh focuses too much on archetypes and interactions between specific cards, whereas mtg has much broader synergies and tribal ways to build decks. And it would be pretty much impossible to do a booster draft with yugioh cards.
Get out
+Lucifer0the0morning What world's did you win?
Get outta here. One with nothing, in response Snapcaster Mage. One with Nothing resolves, discarding Temporal Tresspass, then Snapcaster resolves, giving Tresspass flashback, exile the rest of graveyard to cast Tresspass and take another turn.
Why do you want People to suffer in agony?
This is Awesome!! i just taught my Gf how to play the other day!! and now this comes out!!!
