I cannot stand lyric slide mistakes in worship. Sometimes words are spelt wrong. Sometimes slides are late. Sometimes the lyrics are completely wrong. Whether your church uses ProPresenter or Proclaim presentation software, in this video I’ll share some quick tips to help you eliminate these common mistakes so that your congregation is focused on worshipping Jesus rather than tackling the poor guy or girl sitting behind the computer.
I started with EasyWorship 2009 and then upgraded to EasyWorship 6. I’m testing EasyWorship 7 for the remote feature.
Since there are mixed comments about volunteers… For me running the computer is a full-time ministry. I’m usually the first to arrive at church to setup and I’m manning the computer the whole service. It’s rough position that requires a personal disconnect to how I’m feeling and to be totally focused on how the service is flowing.
I always listen to an instrumental version of the song I'm working on while I'm making slides, especially when I'm not familiar with it. Helps a lot when making line breaks! We use Proclaim.
I have a more challenging environment than what you describe. Our church is bilingual and most songs are in both Spanish and English. The band switches back and forth between the languages as their feelings lead. They may also jump around and do unplanned extra choruses, verses, or bridges. As a result, the video operator can only make their best guess as to what is coming next. EasyWorship 2009 is the only software I know that will let the operator see the full text of both versions of the song on the screen at the same time so we can easily switch back and forth between them. "Next, next, next,..." - I wish!
We use Song Beamer, this supports multi language and you can show both languages or one of both.
Absolutely normal here barring the bilingual slides. We do NOT use tracks, and several of our worship leaders are (or at least were, pre-lockdown) prone to Spirit-led extra verses, choruses, bridges, extended praise breaks etc,.
We use EasyWorship 7 with a CCLI llcense, which makes it much easier to get the right words and navigate between verses and bridges as the Spirit moves
We used to do that with a Slavic congregation and we are English.
Older video, but still very relevant. At Freedom Baptist Church (Yuma, AZ), we use Proclaim. Already familiar with importing lyrics from CCLI Song Select. But what I just now learned is that it can be controlled by MIDI signals. Oh, can't wait to get back to church, connect a small keyboard to the Proclaim PC, and start playing. Thanks for the inspiration Jake!
Watched this after commenting and learning from your Instagram post. Excited to get proclaim united with Ableton!
Thanks for including Proclaim, for me and a lot of smaller churches with volunteers looking for the easiest solution, it's simply spectacular. Pro presenter is incredible but to those evaluating media software, I'd encourage you to test out proclaim. Especially over media shout or easy worship. It's a blessing for me to create from home alongside volunteers all done online and it's ability to control lighting is sweet.
We have been using OpenLP for at least 3-4 years, but in the last year I’ve been figuring out how we can implement Ableton with proclaim/propresenter at some point this/early next year.
We use ProPresenter 6 in our small church. So far I am the only operator, but other people are able to do it. As we are in Norway and part of a larger church that is situated in another city, I try to use the lyrics provided by the main church through Dropbox. If they don't have it, I Google it. They actually have a quite good lyrics feature nowadays, so I only have to copy it into PP and change the flow to go. The worship team start to practice as I come to the venue and I of course listen when I set up the machine (we don't have our own building), then I listen from when I am finished and try to get how the song will go today. It is NOT the same every time, we allow the Holy Spirit to guide the worship. Sometimes even the songs are unknown, but I cope with that too. That is the part that make this job so exciting!
We use OpenLP, free and open source, really happy with it
Thank you sir for this wonderful tutorial! It helps me now because I’m still new at our church’s Media Team. We use Propresenter but the main computer is broken so we need to stick to Powerpoint which gives us more work.
We use EasyWorship at our church. It has had a couple of glitches but support was on point and had it tackled in no time. So I appreciate customer service as much as well written software. I would like to know if someday we actually do Ableton live it would I integrate.
We use PowerPoint or Google Slides mostly. We don't have in-house screens so our slides only go into the livestream via OBS. Yes, it is too complicated so we are looking at alternatives. Thanks for the good info in this video!
We used Media Shout 4.5 for a long time, but since last year we have been using ProPresenter 6.
We also use mediashout. I'm thinking about switching. What are your thoughts? Are you glad that you switched? Thank you.
In my church in Germany (ICF Internation Christian Fellowship) we use Propresenter 6. Thanx for your video.
We from India, Chennai. And we use propresenter 6 and it's one of the best.
We use ProPresenter. Thanks for the video!
We use Presenter and CCLI. That is where most lyric mistakes begin. Song Select does not have the UMH version of most songs.
Thanks for this Jake. You are such a blessing. Keep it up!
We use Easy Worship. We're a small church & it meets our needs. I like to the way it's laid out.
We use EasyWorship 7.3 and ProPresenter 7.8, with SongSelect. Manually advance slides. Manually reconcile EW or PP song arrangements with PlanningCenter Lyrics (WT use tablets linked to Planning Center Lyrics/Chords). Practice slide advances during mid-week rehearsal, making changes as needed. CompGraphics Tech on duty confirms arrangement during prep-hour prior to service start. Doesn't eliminate errors but greatly reduces them. However, I am curious about Abelton Live integration. Thank your for the video...very helpful reminder.
My church, Burke Community Church, uses ProPresenter for our lyrics, both for the screens in our worship center and for lower thirds for our livestream.
Also helpful: change to the next line *before* it's sung, so people get a second to read it before they have to sing it.
VideoPsalm is the best and free.
Minus midi triggers and automation. If the software you're using doesn't have midi triggers I definitely suggest checking out VideoPsalm even just for R&D
nicekid76 is it really free? I’m new to this and use the basic PowerPoint 🤷🏽♀️ but I want to get better
@@emelyperez3260 - Yes it's free. Also we have recently changed the settings so all of our backgrounds, images, schedule and lyrics are pulling from a google drive folder so we can setup our schedules and images from any computer that has internet and it automatically updates to the main computer once it links up to the internet. And one of my favorite things is that it has a built in countdown clock that will use any font you have installed on your computer. (WHICH IS HUGE) because some people spend lot of money getting custom count down clocks videos and all of ours can be made in house and for free.
I'm happy to answer any VideoPsalms questions you have. Been using it for over 4 years now, honestly lost count.
Hey..Thanks a lot man. You have helped a lot and help me with acoustic guitar and the rigs i need for better tone etc. Thank you!
Our church also does things a bit spontaneously: bouncing around different verses, repeating choruses, changing lyrics on the spot, spontaneous songs. "next, next, next" would be a dream haha. communication always gets a bit frantic, but i suppose that comes with the territory...
Hi Jake,
Ruben here from Luxembourg (very small country in Europe, don't worry about it 😅).
Quick question, using Ableton Live would our worship leader be stuck to the structure initially prepared for the service, or could the leader decide to change or repeat part of a song (or even sing a new song) during the service?
Would Ableton Live allow this type of spontaneous worship?
Great work on the channel, God Bless,
Ruben
I have the same question
video coming out friday morning for this... keep your eye out
Thanks, looking forward to see it.
In Germany we have also the problem, that some songs are available in 2 different German versions. When the people sing "You turned water into wine" and the slide shows "Water becomes wine and blind ones will see", for there are two German versions of "Our God"...
Not entirely related but I can't find where else to ask this question. We use ProPresenter and manually advance slides. We are having a weird issue where all of a sudden the lyrics won't show on top of the motion graphic we use at the top of the song. I'm assuming it is a macro issue but I haven't been able to figure out why this is happening in our Easter playlist we are creating. Any thoughts on how to fix that?
Before I watch the video: Usual I can almost recognize, when a song part will be repeated.
And about song mistakes in the slides, I try to correct them.
I was looking for tips, and instead found reinforcement. Thank you for something I can give my team to reinforce the way we do things... download the lyrics from SongSelect, go through propresenter's reflow mode to get it easier to read, then go over the song with the worship team in practice to make sure we've got the slides in the right order.
My only problem is requiring my lyrics person to be at practice. It always seems that my production team can never be there for practice. We get them for Sunday morning run-through.
But soon we are going to be getting the midi module for ProPresenter, so all of that will be a problem of the past, and the slide operator can focus on the pastor's sermon slides (which he is thinking of controlling from his iPad with ProRemote).
🙌🙌🙌 thanks for sharing Troy!
Mediashout 6 Looking at ProPresenter as we speak. Having trouble finding a camparison of the two. Thanks for the videos!
I would love to have you speak to our media team at church. I'm currently running with the team and would love your insight.
Was that computer in the thumbnail using ProPresenter 5 or ProPresenter 6? It looked like Pro5 to me, but I am not sure.
ProPresenter! Hey Jake, do you use Onsong? If you do, could you do a tutorial on connecting Onsong to Ableton?
Rios De Agua viva in Minnesota here! We use proclaim!
Propresenter and every song I lay out the songs exactly as it is done. All the volunteers have to do is press next. I do all except #5
We are using EasyWorship!
We use pro presenter 6 in all of our auditoriums
We use an old version of ZionWorx (since before 2010 probably), and it is really simple. Tried OpenLP (gotta love open source) but it had some things I missed and crashed a lot (both on Windows and Linux). Currently evaluating ProPresenter. ProClaim looks interesting but very expensive since it's a subscription service.
Good Samaritan Baptist Church in Birmimgham, Al., Uses Proclaim and OpenLP.
I would love to be able to use ableton or make the propresenter with the exact way we do songs each week, however we dont even do songs the same way from rehersal to the service. it does get annoying for my tech team that way :(
Hello @churchfront I run ProPresenter in our youth ministry and I cannot figure out how to keep it to where it shows every slide instead it show only the slide while presenting any suggestions?
ProPresenter its the best software for churchs
We use
Easy Worship
PowerPoint (for teaching and video presentations)
We just started using MediaShout
We use songshow plus
2:58 this should only be done for volunteers who have little clue what they are doing. However when the spirit leads the band off track that is when only having on of each section (versus, chorus, bridge) is handy, you know where to go at a moments notice. If your good you’ll know where the band is going before they sing the lyrics
thanks for sharing
The fundamental problem is that the lyrics operator doesn’t receive the song queues from the worship leader. If you can somehow get this information to the lyrics operator, then when the worship leader signals a change the lyrics operator will know ahead of time. One way to do this is for the lyrics operator to also have access to the bands comm feed. It requires teamwork and a cooperative band.
at my church the worship leaders have a separate mic that is connected to the monitoring system (in ear) so if they want to repeat or change the order of the song the rest of the band knows as well as the sound and lyrics people as they have in ears well.
We use Openlp
is it free software?
@@jerometenerife6319 free and open source
We used SongShow for years, but it’s a terrible software so we switched to Proclaim.
YES SAME HERE well haven't made the switch yet still looking around
Easyworship

we are using Easy Worship
We use Proclaim
We use Easyworship for lyrics
We use freeworship for lyrics in our church
I have a question, I use Ableton for our services and would like to have it control Pro Presenter but I’m using a Mac Mini on stage and we have a PC at the back.
What do I need to convert the midi signal to something the PC can understand for Pro Presenter? Thank you
I'd have to look into this more. ProPresenter doesn't have a midi module but I think there is a way to convert midi to keystrokes for ProPresenter. I haven't tried this myself.
I wonder can you use a master controls on propresenter with ableton live? for exp; ableton controls pro6 main while pro6 main control pro6 slave
Our church just started useing propresenter on march 20...
We use EasyWorship, is it possible for this program to automate aswell?
I don’t believe so. In all the research I did I couldn’t find that easy worship receives midi commands.
@@Churchfront The latest version of EasyWorship claims to be able to do this: www.easyworship.com/help/Content/C_Technical/Midi%20Control.htm As this is the software we use, I am going to be doing some experiments with that at some point this year.
i used opensong and was trained to learn the songs as much as the WL needs to. If the guitarist is expected to play every note, and he doesnt have his instrument with him 24/7, then someone who only needs their iphone or has their brain with them 24/7 has no excuse.
This is why I cant stand WL who forget the lyrics too, it just means they didnt prepare
Song Show Plus. Wirecast to stream
We use Songbeamer
Propresenter 6 on a windows 10 gaming laptop, upgrading sound system from analogue to digital soon, probably the X air mixer
Nice! Thanks for sharing.
Pro Presenter
Song Select has the advantage you can transpose.
thanks for sharing
New to both Mac & ProPresenter 6 from a Windows world can be a tough learning curve! Help!
I learned macs to run Propresenter. My biggest help was being there during rehersals. That gave me time to not only learn the music, but how to work on a mac. Once you get things set up during rehersal, it is simple to just hit next during the service.
Easy Worship
In our church, we use canva😊
We use ProPresenter 6
I am the poor guy behind the computer. Lol🤣😂😆
Mediashout 5 trying to transition into 6! But having difficulty!
Pro Pres!!!
CCLI exist for spanish lyrics?
At our church we use Zionworx
ProPresenter since it was was first launched.
Media shout
I use Easyworship
Worship Extreme
Same!
How can you add a lyric to livestream video
Would use a digital video mixer and put the lyrics into this. But be careful, the lyrics have to have black background.
Thank you Which one should I pick
If using propresenter they have an alpha key module. We send an alpha key feed to our black magic atem video switcher and use their built in downstream keying to overlay the text on the video. I should probably make a video on our setup one of these days. 😁
freeworship
I use Proclaim
Pro presenter
ShareFaith through PowerPoint
Proclaim
We use Propresenter6
Thanks for sharing!
i use freeworship because it's free and easy to use
In Germany we have Song Beamer.
Thanks for sharing!
In my church we use in the worship service Propresenter, it looks better, when we can include animations. But in our 24/7 prayer room we have the Song Beamer app. This tool can show lyrics in different languages, find the songs pretty fast, can play power point documents, flash animations, RUclips links, videos, bible verses - well it needs to install the bible and the video codecs.
In the church I was before, we used it to include live video, but there was a visible delay and we couldn't include bible verses in the video, so we changed using a video mixer and the song beamer PC as video source. www.songbeamer.com/
we use Free worship software
MediaShout 6
ProPresenter
We use supercanticos 2006
We use easy worship :/
ProPresenter 6
Song Show Plus
Our church uses EasiSlides
Propresenter 6
me using MS powerpoint 😭😭😭
