I remember seeing the original video a few years ago and it came up again on my home page today, which led me here to this update. I'm so glad he's still doing well for himself given the circumstances, I hope he can find a more permanent place to be, but at the same time he seems at peace with where he is and appears to enjoy it. He's so nice and well spoken, thank you for all you have done to help him
Wow, I vividly remember seeing a video of him in his little cave. I have some social anxiety, and I often imagine myself down there - safe, hidden. I find it so sad that he isn't safe down there anymore - but I'm happy to see he is still as positive as ever.
What an amazingly beautiful soul. Letting go, being present, having gratitude, trusting God. Every teaching rich people pay expensive retreats to learn, this guy possesses naturally. This man is happier than most wealthy people. A true inspiration.
Likewise. I befriended a homeless guy from the country Georgia when I was living in Miami. He was sleeping on the beach at night underneath Porsche tower and was happier and more full of life than the terrible rich people, foreign criminals and investors that city attracts.
Isn’t it lovely to see someone so satisfied with life rather than basing happiness on what fills their life? Incredibly inspirational and refreshing. His has a great perspective on “freedom” as well. It’s wonderful knowing there are people like this out there. Best wishes, Carlos!!
The 2 videos of Carlos have been at the back of my mind for so long. The way some folks can make a humble abode out of very little material can make one realize how much they take life for granted just having a roof over their head, major blessings to you for being able to reconnect with a humble man like Carlos.
Carlos is freaking amazing. His views on the world might be outdated, but his positive attitude makes it all worth the effort. And that's a good lesson for the rest of us
Carlos' attitude and positivity is so inspiring. Carlos is living proof that money and materialistic things are not what brings someone happiness. To see him a decade later being just as kind and happy as before is heart warming. I think many people could learn a lot from him.
BS lol. He is proof of exactly how important having a roof, clothes, food are. Are you nuts? The guy is personable but nuts. That you can’t tell how crazy he is blows my mind lol. But hey, why don’t you go and live on the street and then report back how happy you are lol
This is so good journalism and telling the stories of people who is not usually listened!! Amazing. Would be great to reach same quality in our reportages
@@ErikKSwanson not sure what family radio is but from reading the comments it sounds like a cult. And you’re right what you say it’s very sad how vulnerable people get brainwashed by them disgusting cult’s. How cults are allowed to operate I have no idea. I maybe think they must make some sort of money out of it. That must be why they do it as they can’t actually believe the shit they come out with and if they do, which I guess their followers do then that’s more terrifying I think. Because if they believe all that’s being taught to them then their very dangerous people I would say. Anyway just thought I’d comment as you seemed nice in the video you made. And I got to say that you know when he said there would be a big earthquake in 2011 n when that didn’t happen n you asked him about it years later her turned around n said, “yeah I meant it was gunna be a spiritual earthquake”. 🙄 it’s like they twist everything. Even when that big pretend made up event doesn’t happen for them cults they then twist it n say things like that. And it’s comments like that that shows people that they obviously have a a excuse for everything, because even when fronted with the fact that no earthquake happened, he still had a excuse. Because nothing you say can get common sense into their head, they won’t have it unfortunately. And that’s sad but also very dangerous.
I usually don't donate. Ever. But the first video of Carlos moved me so much, I'm glad if my litte donation let's him have a better life. He's an amazing person, and I wish him all the best in the world
I don't make a big habit of donating either. But like you, my wallet is coming out for him and I hope other readers here feel the same way. Even just $5 means a lot to him and, when you give, it will mean a lot for you too.
I'm sobbing. When I saw the first video you posted of him, I watched it twice. I couldn't get him out of my mind ever, I would randomly start thinking about him. The fact that he has maintained his positivity, his strength, and his spirituality is so incredibly beautiful. This is tragically beautiful.
He has the Lord Jesus. He said himself his strength is from the Lord. He knows one day he’ll have a mansion, he is more free than the celebrities who have millions of dollars yet lost their soul
Yes, I feel delighted by seeing this update but at the same time I feel sad that he had to go through police corruption , charged, and stripped from his home, glad he made it through and is still happy.
I am so relieved that you found Carlos. We watched your last video years ago and I was worried and concerned about him. Sometimes change like that is fatal. So happy you found him and he actually looks better than before 10 years later. Go Carlos. Go.
You have a lot to be proud of, Erik. You gave Carlos the respect every man deserves, you treated him with interest, and some kindness, and as luck would have it, Carlos is himself a kind person. I hope all good things come to him thru all this, and that his life is made better thru your kindness all these years later. Carlos is a Proud man, and a capable one, you have helped him maintain that, thank you.
One of the remarkable things about Carlos is that he doesn't appear to have a drug problem or mental illness, which throws a monkey wrench in many people's stereotypical perception of the homeless.
I’ve been homeless without a substance abuse problem. It’s addiction that robs people of their ability to choose leaving homelessness. The homeless without an addiction can get off the street at pretty much anytime they want. Addiction is a trap in any circumstance
Actually, the fact that he can’t keep a job is a big indicator of underlying mental illnesses. Many “normal” people cope with this issue but some cope better and some can’t at all. I’m one of those people and I change jobs every year at least
He definitely has mental illness to some degree but he's been able to use religion, and quite extreme religion, to prop his mind up enough to keep going. Also having the daily tasks of going step by step to procure what you need for survival is keeping him relatively stable. It's an odd phenomena similar to how soldiers in war zones who return to regular life later report they were happiest in the war zone when they didn't have to think about anything more than "survive today". The trivial wasn't important enough to worry about. What keeps modern people in a state of depression and anxiety is living in a state of excess. Always chasing more than they need and not being right mentally with what they currently have. Take Buddhist monks for example. They aren't living on the streets but they also don't take on excesses. They do what they need to do to survive the day and focus on a mindfulness of living in the present, and you don't ever hear of Zoloft and Xanax running though monk monasteries do you?
The love of many has truly waxed cold. They couldn’t leave him alone in his little home. Wasn’t hurting anyone. Had so little and even then I guess it was asking too much to just be left alone. Sad world.
I've known Carlos for 30minutes and I've got to say he is an absolute sweetheart. Despite everything he lived through and experienced he never once let it get the better of him and that is worthy of my respect.
As a viewer that saw the original videos , I’m so glad to see Carlos doing so well. The Stories of the poor are never this enlightening and I’m glad he’s persevering
ok, he looks decent, but also he is talking about apocalypse all the time, and he would be happier with a house and healthcare for sure. Being happy when misery hits you is what rich people want for the rest.
I gotta give it Carlos. This man was a “Marielito”, a “mole man” and after all that still chooses to live by his terms. I’m not religious, but find his belief to have faith through so much inspiring. All I know is that the humblest people I’ve ever met have been through the deepest journeys!
Carlos just seems like such a nice man. You can even see he just has such kind eyes, and it's very admirable that he keeps such a positive attitude. I wish him well.
this guy has the documentary voice down 100%. great video! everyone needs to remember taht everyone needs help from time to time. doesnt matter if you live in a box, or a half a million dollar house, with a billion things that do nothing but sit on the shelf and look pretty. everyone needs a hug and everyone needs a helping hand. god bless this man, and hopefully he remains safe and gets a place to stay.
When Carlos cheerfully said, ''God provides' as a Christian myself, I have to re-evaluate my own faith, what an astounding man of faith, may God bless, uplift and continue to take care of Carlos. Truly those who put their faith in God will never be disappointed.
It's not God that provides for him. It is his resourcefulness and positive approach to life. He is definitely an inspiration. Society is worse of, for having someone like him living on the street, instead of providing a benefit to said society. For him, it's probably to late. But in general, all that is required, is giving people who are down on luck, a chance. And collectively giving a damn about other human beings. You know, like the good book preaches.
I agree. Jesus really gives you the clear mind that’s needed to overcome it all. Some people want all the credit but still find themselves empty and without purpose. I love the fact that Carlos understands that all glory goes to god. He’s richer than anyone I know. Those without purpose don’t understand his happiness but believers understand.
How he’s managed to keep his sanity, humor, faith and overall personable nature is beyond me. I could learn a thing or two from this lovely man. Thank god he’s managed to avoid addiction
How can you say he's kept his sanity if he believes in judgement day? And he just keeps changing the dates to the future when judgement day doesn't arrive?
@@stonks87 I had the same thought, but indoctrination is not insanity, however it is a great foundation for cognitive dissonance. The radio station spreading this bull is what bothers me.
It’s not the homelessness that destroys your looks it’s the drugs. 90 percent of them are alcoholics or drug addicts. It’s rare to see a sober and clean homeless man like this.
Suggestions for some one to help guide Carlos. There is a little camper that can be pulled by a bike or trike. There is a cooler that works like a refrigerator. There are pop up canopies that can be equipped with a 10X10 square tent. There are fold up solar cells and batteries, and rocket stoves that generate electricity as well as heat. But most importantly there are small towns all over this nation. Carlos would be able to find compatable work and maybe even a little square of land to call his own.

let’s get that man a trailer home or a van! he deserves it, sweet soul 🖤 (ofc all people do. we can all also start by helping homeless people in our own communities but i just thought it could be a nice idea. since people are donating anyway)
Thisssssss let's help this man
Why does he deserve it? we have out own people living on the streets, some of who served our country. The only thing he deserves is a one way ticket back to where he came from so his own country can provide for him. He is nothing but a worthless parasite and public health hazard living on the streets.
Have you done anything to help him yet?

This guys seems more happy than people with families, 9-5 jobs with houses and cars. I am shocked at his positivity. Maybe the biggest root of all despair in society is excess responsibility and expectations.

@@ErikKSwanson God bless you. Family Radio is terrifying. 😵💫 I don't condone that cult behavior
@@MyFriendlyPup it is truly sad how groups like that can brainwash folks and detach them from reality

The fact that he has maintained his positivity, his strength, and his spirituality is so incredibly beautiful. This is tragically beautiful.
The video brought tears to my eyes too. He's so appreciate of life and he has nothing. So many can learn from this. He's an inspiration.
He has the Lord Jesus. He said himself his strength is from the Lord. He knows one day he’ll have a mansion, he is more free than the celebrities who have millions of dollars yet lost their soul

How could you not like this chap? And also, considering his circumstances, he is stil happy, even cheerful. Mad respect for him.
Wow What a strong individual, Jesus is with him!! It is truly admirable!
Obviously has mental illness problems.
That seems like you playing into a stereotype as well, to be fair.
The love of many has truly waxed cold. They couldn’t leave him alone in his little home. Wasn’t hurting anyone. Had so little and even then I guess it was asking too much to just be left alone. Sad world.

When Carlos cheerfully said, ''God provides' as a Christian myself, I have to re-evaluate my own faith, what an astounding man of faith, may God bless, uplift and continue to take care of Carlos. Truly those who put their faith in God will never be disappointed.
that is so right! god provides all we need to do is totally trust him!
your imaginary man in the sky doesn't do anything or exist. grow up stop living in a fairy tail.
Then go be homeless like him. lmao
Thank god he’s managed to avoid addiction
it's through devotion to God, he surrenders himself completely and when things get hard he interprets that as God challenging him
How can you say he's kept his sanity if he believes in judgement day? And he just keeps changing the dates to the future when judgement day doesn't arrive?

I love the follow up. I just feel like he exudes peace and I love how much care you have for Carlos too. This is beautiful and real.
Awesome suggestions...high five🎉🎉🎉🎉
