Some of the best characterisation for Marvel characters in video games for me. There's a tiny, missable moment between Tony and Ghost Rider, not even cutscene, just ambient dialogue, that works great for the personal stories.

Took a long time for me to even comsider trying it bcs I’m not that into card games, but once I sank my teeth into it I could not let it go for a while. Now I’m praying for a sequel which probably won’t come anytime soon lol
Midnight Suns seems to draw a lot of inspiration from Dragon Age/Bioware. And they appear to have made a really great game. Genuinely don’t know why this game wasn’t absolutely everywhere when it first dropped. With a history of so many bad Marvel games, you’d think they would’ve wanted to promote one that seems to be a legitimately good game.
Ok opinion you have a AAA game $70 with generic tactics , gameplay , story , game mechanics, there are many better tactical games out their like StarCraft, Warhammer, Inscryption but now marvel game yes it’s great has something with all are favorite marvel characters on screen but is it really worth it , could’ve been either another sequel of the ultimate alliance with dark scary heroes or jrpg game ,this doesn’t even feel like a pc or console game more like a mobile game to be frank
My brother got me this for Christmas and I got hooked on it. I was planning to wait to get it, but all of it has been incredibly fun to play and work through. DLCs are great too! My one complaint is that the game’s animations/character designs aren’t well developed. The movements feel very rigid at times and the designs of most characters are incredibly similar/glitch through layers of the design. Is the game incredibly worth it? Absolutely. Should it be polished up some? Also yes
It grows on you because of the custom character and mindless mansion hub. Lot of diagloue and a fast forward of enemy combat would be cool. But this deserves a sequel for sure. Best marvel game after spiderman series
When I first heard about the Midnight Suns game, I was thinking it was like a story based game with movement and fighting mechanics.. Kinda shot me down when I saw it's a turn-based game because I personally don't want to be playing those kind of games on my PS5, but hearing this is making me reconsider
When this game first came out, I had mixed feelings about it. Wasn’t super eager to purchase because Marvel’s Avengers left SUCH a bitter taste in my mouth. Finally got the game on sale on Black Friday for the hell of it and to my surprise, I am HOOKED. Absolutely love the damn game 😂. Purchased it on my steam deck. Perfect game to play on the go. Doesn’t require serious attention; you can kinda drop in and out of gameplay while doing your normal day to day activities. Who’da thought a Marvel card-based strategy RPG would be so much fun lol. Kinda mad I didn’t buy it on launch 😂🤷♂️
It’s pretty fun, but you have to be a big fan of Marvel or fan of Turn Based Games. Dialogue trees can be too much sometimes but I just skip past them and do the light or darkness I want.
I'd say so. The combat is addicting and the Mass Effect like companion dialogue is great. A little disappointed at the decisions to include the heroes the chose as they left out a ton of the actual Supernatural or Midnight Suns related characters in favor of MCU Avengers, but I'll deal I guess. Still, character like Moonknight, Elsa Bloodstone, Man Thing and Werewolf by Night should of been nobrainers and a given. Oh well. Either way I still recommend getting it, though on sale due to 2K's shitty pricing schemes (I got the Ultimate Edition with the DLC costumes and Season Pass characters on sale for $60 and so far I don't think they're really worth it). I'd honestly recommend the standard edition during a sale, unless you consider yourself a Hardcore Deadpool Fanboy (like most dudebros seem to believe they are just because he breaks the fourth wall).
Played this for the first time last night and even though I was alittle reluctant about there being cards used in the game but to be honest I just view the cards as my moves and just play it like a regular turn based rpg

I love strategy games like xcom. And I love triangle strategy and lc videos on it. I'm just turned off by the randomness of card based things ever since last remnant.
If you've played slay the spire, this is like that, with synergies and possibly op decks, its just fun getting a hand that comes in clutch and watching your heros go absolutely apeshit on the enemy
I will give you sone math. Every hero brings 8 cards in the deck. You have three heroes on a mission. You get 5 card every turn with two redraws. So you have acces to 30% of your abilities ob turn one. A lot of mechanics and card can give you mire draws or redraws. Just think about a card like a random cooldown for abilities. Actualy in 40+ hours I played I did not feel that result (either good or bad) was RNG fault. I could allways backtrack anything wrong to my bad decision. Fron jow on I want all the games be like this. Much bezter than XCOMs percentage hits. You kniw exactly how much damage you deal and you will never put your self in bad position because of some bad roll.
I really like the game. Although my brother did make a good point in the fact, it doesn't look great with comic book characters. Wolverine waiting in place doing nothing while enemies are feet away, looks just plain wrong, lol. And for a character to take a hit then basically go ok good hit I'll stand here so your other teammate can hit me, ok good now let me stand still while I deliberate for a minute or two. When my brother said that it made me laugh, but still I enjoy the game and I think it's underrated.
I mean eh there are just a lot of things they are going to have to change in order for it to seem more fair for both players rather than one player going first stunning or potentially one shoting all ur characters if it's lvl based and then u got things like modded cards so one person could really if they wanted to just own the entire battle, I just feel like if u go first u basically just win
Talking to your team gets tedious af. Other than that it's great. This is the first turn based strategy game I've played in ages and I'm having a blast. It's the best marvel game you can play on ps5. Nice video.
I don't think it was worth AAA price, but still a fun game. Getting used to the gameplay toom a while, but the biggest drawback for me was the graphics. No game should look like that on a PS5
It is definitely worth full AAA price to me, I mean the amount of content to delve into and amount of dialogue they put in as well as the countless combinations in strategy from the now 17 "classes" (heroes) it's great as well as firaxis making a combat system that may be better than XCOM 2, and great deck building, the only flaws are the graphics, peters face model, and the writing wasn't the best, the one liners and combat dialogue were great tho
It's one of the best games I bought this year that I will actually finish. Most games I get I just can't play through all the way but this game I will put finish in finisher.
Currently playing it now, and it's severely limiting. It feels like the type of game to drip feed resources to promote micro transactions. The gameplay is kinda lacking as you can only bring in 3 heroes per mission, and you have some pretty strict rules when making the decks. Playing on the ps4, I have multiple moments where the textures don't load in, sometimes just for one character, usually Spiderman, other times entire cutscenes have people totally textureless, like during mission briefings. I have fallen out of the map twice while exploring, and multiple cutscenes have glitched out with characters disappearing, subtitles disappearing, and sometimes getting pure white or black screens for a few seconds during the cutscene (ignoring when it's supposed to happen like the end of the dream sequences). It has a lot of elements of a dating sim without the dating, so that's a miss too. I'd have to give it like a 6 out of ten, being mediocre. It has some redeeming qualities, being the story and character interactions are intriguing, with some decent voice acting.
The combat of the game is good, the story is interesting, graphically it is fine, but the thing about your random character having to become friends with the other heroes is the most cringeworthy thing on the planet, that is, they can be teammates , but not the friendship ended, if the entire night shift mechanics part would be removed and it would be pure the other, with secondary missions that are more than just a simple MMO quest, it would be much better
Really needed FEWER A-listers. There were much better candidates to shine in the dark and magic based setting. Like Cap and Marvel got not place here, Strange should just be a guide and have one of the MANY other spell casters take his place on the team. OH or have Venom be playable instead of spidey and have Fallen Carnage instead as a foe
You cannot possibly expect a game of the midnight suns team to do perform well without the A-listers they put in this game I dont think a game with just people like Elsa bloodstone, man-thing or brother voodoo to do well in the cash department even tho it sounds cool as fuck Its just the fact that even tho these more obscure characters are cool they aren't nearly as popular as captain america and the rest of them so the game would sell less
This is what ultimate allegiance 3 could’ve been if Nintendo didn’t acquire the rights now we may never get another unless X-men legends makes a return
I was seriously hoping midnight suns had a hack and slash combat system but I mean I grew up with games like god of war and devil may cry so those are the most fun games to play for me so that may be bias but playing as ghost rider and wolverine would have gone so hard also if they had done it right every character would be fun to play.
I would say the way the cards are incorporated is very palettable, as opposed to "very smart." The game doesn't feel like a card game at all. I have never been into any card games before, no Pokémon, no Hearthstone, no Legends of Runeterra, you name it. The closest I've come to playing a card game was when I dipped my toes into Gwent while playing The Witcher III. However, like I said, the implementation of the cards in Midnight Suns is very palettable. Your deck is comprised of different attacks, as well as some support cards and such. My point being: the cards literally just represent different actions your heroes can take during any given turn. And the game randomly selects different cards from your deck at the start of the round and also to replace the cards that you use once your next turn starts. So the cards really just represent a way to balance the gameplay. Yes it is a card game, but they are there to make sure you can't just spam super strong attacks etc. There is a real element of strategy once you throw the random selection of the cards in with the vast array of enemies (along with their respective abilities and attacks), the placement of the enemies, the placement of the environmental objects that you can vault off of to strike down upon your enemies from above, or objects that you can slide in to two enemies (after adjusting the object's trajectory to make sure that the enemy on the left will smack into yet another enemy, therefore killing all three enemies in one swift, fatal blow). Seriously the game is good fun. The cards are there to add a sparratic element, that way it feels all the more satisfying to remain calm and collected as you select the proper response for each little thing the game throws at you, whatever it form it may take. Of course, the cards are important, but the real stars of the show are the heroes themselves (or rather the animations for each attack etc.). All around a beautiful, fun, and satisfyingly well thought-out game that I'm almost positive you won't regret buying. And if you're still on the fence, wait till it's on sale! I believe I recently saw the game discounted at 35% off. Luckily, I got the game for free when I bought my Nvidia RTX 3060 through Best Buy. Plus I got $100 off my graphics card, so if you're in the market for a new graphical card, you might see if that promotion is still going on through Best Buy. It was the Gigabyte RTX 3060 12g that I got.
Its a decent game, however, being that it's Marvel and 2K, it's definitely not the best they can do, and in terms of seeing what they do in the future, nothing. Take Two Interactive has already stated they have no plans to further provde DLC or a sequel to the game due to it doing badly in terms of sales.
I played it when it was at 40$ and I have to say I fine to fun I love the midnight suns costume I just don't like I got to spend 50 hours trying to upgrade their relationship I wish there was a a better to get it and just the relationship building awards something else like shaders and cards
The major turn off for me was the main protagonist you create and play as. I'd much prefer a game similar to Ultimate Alliance where you play as already established characters.
It looks like a decent game but it's not worth the price for me. Maybe if it pops up in PS Plus in the future I'll consider giving it a shot. Maybe even upload gameplay then lol
It's a shame this game flopped. I honestly didn't think I'd like it but gave it a chance because it was on sale. I think the card gameplay turned a lot of people off. But it plays a lot better than it looks. In my opinion, it was worth the buy.
I’m sure the game is good and I’ll probably play it at some point.. just not now, or ever on my system. I love marvel but if I wanted to play with cards I’d go play poker
Nice and if you want to look like a dumbass you post this comment too lol. I’m just trolling but strategy games are super fun idk why people don’t like them.
@@zackghost_1 for me it’s the taking turns attacking.. it just feels weird and unlike combat in real life. Maybe I’m judging prematurely because I haven’t played the game but Ive seen many games with cards have the same premise. Taking turns attacking kinda kills the fight for me. I get the strategy is what makes it fun for people but for me it just feels odd watching my enemies wait as I attack them one at a time
One thing about Marvel Avengers you can’t say is the graphics are bad😂 that’s one of the best looking games I’ve seen. It looks way better the Midnight Suns

I just feel like the marketing for this game was heavily misleading and when I went onto the main page to look at the game, I didn’t even really see anywhere mentioning that it was a card playing strategy game. It just feels way too overpriced to be playing a glorified card game with fancy cutscenes in between. I can see the appeal of it, but to me it just seems like giving too much for too little in return.
I love this game and cant put it down, the animations remind me of ultimate alliance im not expecting realism, im expecting cartoon bullshit, and this games card system keeps the combat fresh you cant use the same strategy all the time and i enjoy that aspect

I don't care for games like this but decided to give it a chance since I heard good things about the game. Glad I did because it's a good game
We need something like Marvel’s Nemesis
Its rich in lore so it feels very Classic in the very Marvel sense.
10/10 review.. I was actually thinking about buying this game.. my mind is made up now #bought
I buy it yesterday because i thought it was a normal game like Marvel's Avangers but it's a shit game because it is a card game i have lost 22 euros
It's one of the best games I bought this year that I will actually finish. Most games I get I just can't play through all the way but this game I will put finish in finisher.
I fuckin love this game! On MCU Fanon Wiki i even created character based on my Hunter Design. 🐲🐲🐲
I want to get straight to the action I don want the long storyline so I haven't brought it 4 that
Now we need this in an actual open world game RPG style game
Solid review thank you
Really needed FEWER A-listers. There were much better candidates to shine in the dark and magic based setting. Like Cap and Marvel got not place here, Strange should just be a guide and have one of the MANY other spell casters take his place on the team. OH or have Venom be playable instead of spidey and have Fallen Carnage instead as a foe
Venom is coming in the Season Pass.
You cannot possibly expect a game of the midnight suns team to do perform well without the A-listers they put in this game
I dont think a game with just people like Elsa bloodstone, man-thing or brother voodoo to do well in the cash department even tho it sounds cool as fuck
Its just the fact that even tho these more obscure characters are cool they aren't nearly as popular as captain america and the rest of them so the game would sell less
@@kryptomanik Not the same at all :(
Love this game! I have 450 hours into it!
Could it be compared to the 2nd south park game?
Im not into card strategy game on a marvel game BUT if it was like (Like a Dragon)..........immediately pre order the game
This is what ultimate allegiance 3 could’ve been if Nintendo didn’t acquire the rights now we may never get another unless X-men legends makes a return
As soon as you mentioned it had cards involved and it was a strategy game i lost complete interest on it.
Ain't reading all that
THIS GAME IS ABSOFUCKINLUTELY FANTASTIC I LOVE IT!!!!! Can't wait for DEADPOOL dlc haha
70$ a lil steep dawg.
fr who payin $70 for a card game 😂
great game honestly id l love to have another ultimate alliance type game
Did he say card based yea major turn off
Its a decent game, however, being that it's Marvel and 2K, it's definitely not the best they can do, and in terms of seeing what they do in the future, nothing. Take Two Interactive has already stated they have no plans to further provde DLC or a sequel to the game due to it doing badly in terms of sales.
Subscribed ✅
I played it when it was at 40$ and I have to say I fine to fun I love the midnight suns costume I just don't like I got to spend 50 hours trying to upgrade their relationship I wish there was a a better to get it and just the relationship building awards something else like shaders and cards
I'd love to see a Mortal Kombat game like this or Dragonball Z.
There's legends
The major turn off for me was the main protagonist you create and play as. I'd much prefer a game similar to Ultimate Alliance where you play as already established characters.
It looks like a decent game but it's not worth the price for me. Maybe if it pops up in PS Plus in the future I'll consider giving it a shot. Maybe even upload gameplay then lol
Short answer, YES!
Good combat the dialogue in between though is grueling.
I’m just trolling but strategy games are super fun idk why people don’t like them.
agreed, sounds like a lazy excuse in case the game fails.
Wish they would’ve done this game as something like X-men legends and ultimate alliance
bro ong, I might just emulate em instead
@@no1studios my OG XBOX died recently. So I can’t play my X-men legends II but I can play ultimate alliance on my Xbox series S.
I was playing MS on ps5 but I kept wishing it was like those games
@@davidamaro1394 i feel that heavy, switched to pc and ngl bro its awesome but im honestly gonna buy a ps5 for when insomniac puts out spider man 2 and wolverine
just bought it for $30 brand new
Probably if it was cheaper
Because for a card game OT IS NOT WORTH THAT PRICE TAG
As soon as this man said the graphics were amazing I was out. That’s one of the things holding me back look at it
In combat/cutscenes it’s godlike - In the Abbey it’s a bit rougher but serviceable.
Factzzzzzz
I just feel like the marketing for this game was heavily misleading and when I went onto the main page to look at the game, I didn’t even really see anywhere mentioning that it was a card playing strategy game. It just feels way too overpriced to be playing a glorified card game with fancy cutscenes in between. I can see the appeal of it, but to me it just seems like giving too much for too little in return.
I disagree about the graphics. Looks pretty bad graphically
I love this game and cant put it down, the animations remind me of ultimate alliance im not expecting realism, im expecting cartoon bullshit, and this games card system keeps the combat fresh you cant use the same strategy all the time and i enjoy that aspect
(Bullshit not being derrogitory but what i expect in a game with giant green men and magic dogs
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1 & 2 are the best ones in my opinion but that was so long ago.
Yes, it’s totally worth playing.
I'll think about it 🤔
