There's no way I'm buying a game from naughty dog after last of us 2 I'm a writer and editor and I thought it was horrible writing. The writing only focused on surface level shock value and had no immersion with character development or world building. For example, I believe good writing will get a person to a place where they feel like crying, and the fact that I didn't get near that place when Joel died surprised me. I was so invested in that character from the first game. Even a mediocre writer could have made that a much more emotional experience. Then I was forced to play as an unlikable antagonist, which was not an enjoyable experience at all. I just kept letting the zombies kill me cause I didnt care if she lived or died, and after a few hours I realized it wasn't going to return to Ellie and I was going to be stuck playing her for a while, so I just quit playing. And I always finish a game when I start it, so that was a first. Further showing me how much I really don't like this game. And, after watching the ending on Utube, I'm so glad I quite when I did. It was such a waste of money, and I'm not exaggerating when I say the worse game I've ever played. There's no way I will buy a game from them again.

It might not fit the immediate look of her but I feel like it kinda helps tell her story, it's good character design ngl. She has physical damage so she's clearly been in combat herself and the voice underlines this, she's probably a former bounty hunter who had to retire due to injury and now works as an agent for bounty hunters.

I think the straw bit really works here beause it's establishimg character rather than breaking an established tone. The criticism of "marvel humor" tends to come from a frustration at the lack of internal consistency of the tone that exists because certain jokes test well with test audiences. I don't see that here. I see a trailer promising that there will be some glib moments with this person we're just meeting. It doesn't break any eatablished tone. It's establishing the tone, ya know. We've got a serious agent and a wildcard client who have alligned interests but clearly have a complicated history.
It's really not about the look but about what it says about NDs priorities... and far left progressive politics WILL take center stage and whatever else is built around this core. Maybe the game will be really good still, probably decent considering budget, time and talent, but we already know part of the story from the protagonist... that's why some people are upset, we're past this preachy era already.

I truly think when Drake got beat up by Nadine in Uncharted 4, that became the apex of a turning point for Naughty Dog and western gaming in general. We entered a new era: the age of emasculated men and anything but feminine women.
How was Nathan Emasculated? The whole game portrays him as a capable fighter. A capable brother who’s willing to die to rescue his fraud brother who was lying to him and in the end he gets the woman and lives happily ever after. They never say he’s a weak man. Nathan is portrayed as anything but weak.
Plus if anybody was portrayed as weak or emasculated it was Rafe. He was selfish, egotistical, and he honestly was the only weak man in that game. Highlighted by his need to flaunt his money and treat Nadine bad.

I'm looking forward to this. The protagonist does look like Lev though. LOL. People wanted a break from The Last of Us and they got it! I'm sure the game will be awesome.
