Harp Girl betrayed Kate's friendship by sleeping with her partner's son.
Willie totally disrespected his mother by sending his 1/2. dressed girlfriend to raid her kitchen after sex. That was just jacked up. Very disrespectful, he should've been kicked out a season ago.

Its a completely ridiculous premise - I mean who does that ? I don't care if she's straight out of the trailer - you don't come as a guest to someone's house and that night hook up with the son / daughter - its pathetic .

Audrey has never been a very good friend to Buddy. She’s very selfish. Causes Buddy much stress.
And Willie was WRONG! Never should have done something like this with his 2 sisters influenced by it! I never understood why these writers made him out to be some sort of stud. He’s NOT! Living at home still, took years to finally get a job, even a car!! He flits from girl to girl.
And Joan totally abused the hospitality shown her!
They barely knew each other but hop into bed! Pretty disrespectful on both their parts, no matter what year it was....

Willie was a loser from the word go. It's Kate and Doug's fault they never expected much out of him. Allowing him to drop out of school to be a writer, then when he can't get that going they are appalled that he entertains the idea of going back to school. They basically tell him he's too talented for that. They created this monster.

He's an "adult man who needs to live an adult life, he's not a child," yet he lives in HIS PARENTS' guesthouse, pays no rent, doesn't contribute in any visible way to the expenses of owning a house or property, therefore, is being SUPPORTED BY HIS FATHER in his early 20s, and you say it's "none of their business." Anything that goes on anywhere on my property is my business, kiddo. You must not have kids their age who do things you don't like in your home. Do you pay your own rent/mortgage, or are you still supported by your parents? I think I can guess which.

Yeah, I came to the "Family" party about 45 years late myself. I'd never seen an episode until about, I don't know, couple of weeks ago, maybe. I was never interested in it as a kid when it was on ABC in the mid-70s. My dad liked "Baretta" though. My classmates liked "Welcome Back, Kotter" and "Charlie's Angels," especially Farrah. All I ever heard in 5th grade was "Yoo gunna diiiiieee at recess," because they copied that one Sweathog (played by Robert Hegyes, I think) who always said that to Vinny Barbarino. To me, they were nothing but a bunch of losers on a shitty show (the characters, not the actors themselves).

With Kate Lawrence as the Lady of the House, I wouldn't have awakened with Willie, then come into the kitchen with him in the morning if I knew how Kate felt about it. I'm just not that brazen. After "the deed" was done (again, IF I were going to do it), I'd have maybe hung out for a bit, and then as inconspicuously as possible, gone up to my own room for the rest of the night. But instead, they just come boldly waltzing into the kitchen together all bright-eyed and bushy-tailed first thing in the morning as if to say, "Good morning, everybody! We knocked boots 'til dawn and now we're starving...what's for breakfast?!" I'd have been mortified if they'd walked in on me at the fridge with nothing on but a big shirt like that.

yay for Kate! she FINALLY stood up to her bratty son. and screw Doug for telling her to back down!
This episode makes me flipping mad. From Audrey sniveling at Buddy and giving her ultimatums, to dumb cluck clumsy annoying Shelley Long refusing to understand and admit that her behavior was disrespectful to Kate, to bratty Willie acting spoiled and entitled as usual, to Doug having the balls to tell Kate that Willie "can't back down, unfortunately" and she is going to have to.....there's enough in this episode to make me want to spit nails .

The problem with Willie here is that, he wants it both ways. They should absolutely Not go into Kate's kitchen, half dressed and take food to top it off. What nerve. He says his house, okay, but the kitchen in the main home is not "his" house. The writing here is off for Willie's character. Later episodes often have the characters doing things and saying things that are just Not them.

I think Willie and Joan were way out of line here. First of all, the house (including the guest house) belongs to Doug and Kate….not to Willie; and as the owners of the property as well as the parents, they have every rite to set the rules for what goes on and what doesn’t on their property! The way Willie spoke to his parents should have earned him a boot in the ass and an eviction from the property!
As far as Audrey, she’s a horrible friend to Buddy! She’s self centered and childish! Instead of being happy for Buddy and congratulating her, she selfishly gave Buddy an unrealistic ultimatum. I’m glad Buddy finally had that talk with her, and I’m glad that Audrey finally realized she was in the wrong.

Not in my house! This is one thing my parents would not allow. Trends and times change but they should never have expected others to accept what they do. Willie talked about being a man but not secure enough to have his own house paying his own bills, living off his parents but expecting the privileges of an adult. Casual sex has been one of the reasons for so many disappointed people. If Joan had her own place, why was she there in the first place and why didn't they just go to her place when asked to behave. This may have just been a story but happens a lot.
