One may begin with a simple dictionary definition:
Theosophia (Greek: θεός theos + σοφία sophia), "Divine Wisdom," or Wisdom of the gods. The word theos means "a god" in Greek, one of the divine beings, not "God" in the sense attached in our day to the term. Therefore, it is not "Wisdom of God," as translated by some, but Divine Wisdom. Theosophy is the substratum and basis of all the world-religions and philosophies-the common thread that runs through them all. In its practical bearing, Theosophy is purely divine ethics.
Here are three exceedingly important ideas central to Theosophy:
Universal Brotherhood: Theosophy is about solidarity. We are all one family, undivided. It is the doctrine of Unity.
Reincarnation: Theosophy is about the immortality of the Soul; living and learning from life to life. It is the doctrine of Hope.
Karma: Theosophy is about the universality of the Law of cause and effect. “As you sow, so shall you reap.” It is the doctrine of Responsibility.
One of the Masterpieces of modern Theosophy, the "Secret Doctrine" by H.P. Blavatsky, presents Theosophy as “the synthesis of Science, Religion and Philosophy.” From this idea we have the following. Theosophy is the:
Science of Spirituality: Theosophy postulates an underlying Divine Wisdom to the Cosmos, Nature and Man. This wisdom has been sought, tested and verified by a countless list of sages and seers throughout recorded history.
Philosophy of Perfectibility: Man is the microcosm of the Macrocosm. Human Nature can either soar or sink. Human potential for creativity, benevolence and knowledge is endless.
Religion of Responsibility: Divinity underlies all of life, but each man is responsible for his or her actions. The actions of one have a ripple effect upon all. Man grows through self-devised and self-induced efforts. Men largely reap the consequences of their choices and actions, good or bad, in this and future life times.
It’s important to understand that Theosophy is not restricted to the modern presentation of these ideas; it is as old as humanity. There is a oneness in fundamental teachings underlying the world’s major religious, philosophical and even scientific schools of thought. This “Wisdom of the Ages” points us towards the true nature of Theosophy. The Movements founded all over the world by history’s Great Teachers show us the unity of their insights. The world’s Sacred Texts provide us with visions of this “divine wisdom.” This is the heritage of humanity, and it is ours to explore.
The founding of the modern Theosophical Movement is generally recognized as spearheaded by Helena Petrovna Blavatsky, with two main associates, William Quan Judge and Henry Steel Olcott. In 1875 they, and others, founded the Theosophical Society. The Society grew and flourished during their time, and since has spawned several distinct organizations, associations and lodges of theosophical students. There is a vast and ever-growing body of literature belonging to this movement, including translations of sacred texts, original works and countless articles.

The main idea in Theosophy is Universal Brotherhood and Sisterhood, human solidarity because divinity is in all men and women and throughout Nature.
The word Namaste, it's meaning, in a nutshell.
This is genuine question: Where does GOD come in all of this? We as humans so full of sin are not divine, God is. And when you say divinity is in all of us and in nature, how though? It is in the creator yes, but all of us and nature?

The etymology of theosophy just means the wisdom concerning God do not let modern cultures misconstrued and obfuscate the truth, you should understand how words are set up phonetically (green language) and how their true meaning stems from the etymology and not how cultures twist and prevert the meaning
That's the definition of the word okay, but what is the doctrine? Which is the important part. Because that informs you how you live and what are your values and principles. Like Christianity. You could say it is concerning Christ or something, but that doesn't tell you what is it about, what does it mean being a theosofist or whatever, like what are the values and principles. Which is what matters... most of those things in my opinion other than being cool inspiration for literature are just fake and a waste of time and even no bueno for the subscribers of such movements, you have the 60's lol to check what's up with those things, other than great artists taking good inspirations and selling stuff with those ideas, the rest is just like junkfood for your soul...
Theos = Divine Sophia = Wisdom It is more accurately Divine Wisdom rather than the wisdom of God. It is an impersonal definition and not to be confused with the idea of an anthropomorphic god. The idea was expressed in different terms in different cultures. Heiros Logos, Philosophia Perennis, Atma Vidya, The Gupta Vidya etc. etc. H.P. Blavatsky called it The Secret Doctrine and wrote a book by this same name to defend it.

Metaphysics precedes physics in Theosophy. Thought comes before action, math before form etc. They say, Math is the most abstract of the sciences and music the most abstract of the arts. Both are metaphysical rather than physical. Math and Sound underlie the universe we are trying to understand. The greatest physicist of modern times Albert Einstein had a copy of HPB's Secret Doctrine on his desk.

@@dadoq1052 If by pagan you mean Ancient, then yes. Modern religions are based upon the symbolism and inner ideas of Ancient teachings, paganism if you must. There is nothing new under the sun as is said in the Bible.
@@dadoq1052 Corinthians says somewhere, Faith without reason is faith in vain. Theosophy would appear to be Pagan to someone who doesn't actually understand what the Bible says. If someone's faith is based in anyway on hope then their faith is in vain which means they are using it for their own purpose in seeing their self as separate from others. Long before the western religions came on the scene humanity's relationship with the spiritual side of life came through observation and contact with Nature. Nature is a universal and eternal guide in that respect, a compass if you will. There is a wisdom within and behind Nature. This is a fundamental premise of Theosophia (Divine Wisdom).
That's the first sentence in the video. Were you able to move past this confusion to grasp the meaning of the rest of the video? Someone once said, I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

I came here because of a beautiful speech by Eben Alexander.
Disappointed in this hodgepodge of doctrines we may be a brotherhood in heaven, but here on earth there is Islam. Something everyone should fear.
Actually all the doctrines of theosophy weave together as a whole. It all starts from a concept of unity that underlies life and the divinity we all share. The fact that we do not live this way does not nullify the reality of it. And it is dogmatism and selfishness we need to fight not particular religions. We might start by making an effort to understand them first before we judge them. Fanaticism leads to violence in all the religious traditions. (See the Crusades and the Inquisition in Europe for reference.) For the longest time that was true of ALL the religions with the exception of Buddhism. But sadly even Buddhism has given way to violence in Sri Lanka in more recent years. Theosophy promotes the idea that the human race is a family first and foremost and should treat each other as such.
You would only say that because you know almost nothing of Islam. Your words also indicate a lack of understanding of the Bible. I don't say this to offend you but in hopes that will consider if what I say is true. 🙏

Much, not all, of the things Theosophy declares to be about, are things already outside the doctrine of Theosophy. In other words, Theosophy as a doctrine/organized philosophy, does not have a monopoly on these concepts. However the leading heads of Theosophy churns these concepts with concepts of the social and political ideologies and objectives of leftist utopian marxist, and subverts the individual sovereigns' true state of liberty, in the name of a human collective perfectionism. This is a tool of collectivist, don't be fooled by it. The collectivist are only about supreme control of man and his mind, and oh by the way, dominion over all land and private property, in short, communism. That's it.

But as usual: I've come to learn that most religions -- and theosophy is such -- are a labyrinth of cliches where the overwhelming number of religionists cannot formulate the core of the religion, and instead whirl around and are ineffectual in achieving any goal whatsoever.

All the religious traditions, including Christianity have a tradition of Mysticism. You might say people who have had profoundly uplifting experiences. And it is possible to draw a common thread through these various mystical experiences and find trends and similarities. A sense of Unity, a sense of Grandeur, A sense of profound love or compassion, a sense of sanctity are all examples of these common mystical experiences. This is what the modern theosophical movement is pointing to. Why do people fear ideas they don't understand? Mainly because they are afraid to ask questions.

Do not even bother man. These evangelicals come to this pages to try to convert ppl to christianity it is like their holly duty or something like that.
