    This was July 2nd, 1987 at the Pacific Coliseum. It was an epic night and now looking back 36 years, being a teen in the 1980s was the best. What a time to be alive.

Was supposed to be The Smithereens, Cinderella, and Bon Jovi. Smithereens no-showed. I was 19 and this concert was a birthday present. Awesome.

    I'm 41 minutes into this and while the performance is exhilarating I'm surprised that they're already ignoring the first two albums this early into their stardom.
    I didn't get to see the SWW tour but I thought they would've balanced the set more with songs from all three albums. So far they've only played "Tokyo Road"
    I really like how they tricked us at the start of the show having David play the intro to "Let it Rock" and then ripping into "Raise Your Hands"

    • @Queretonix
      @Queretonix 5 лет назад +15

      @@brandonvandelden7972 lmao of course there's something wrong with his technique. Until 1988 he didn't sing with correct technique. He used to hit the notes by screaming, that's why most of the gigs he sounded kinda sloppy; if you don't sing correctly, you'll sound sloppy. After 1988 he learned how to sing with correct technique and correct rasp, but became too nasal in the years that followed and ultimately lost his voice completely- nowadays Jon Bon Jovi.

    • @Queretonix
      @Queretonix 5 лет назад +9

      Of course too much touring was also part of the reason he lost his voice. If you scream and tour too much, your voice will get tired early on the tour and if you keep abusing it while it is tired, you'll eventually destroy it completely.

      His voice was fucking AWESOME in the NJ era!! Wow, someone taught him to SAVE his vocal chords for a few decades. What an idiot!!! His voice was amazing for These Days and Destination Anywhere and everything after. Sure it may not have that gravelly power from the 80's but it is still fine for what it is. Do you KNOW what pain and suffering the man went through on the Slippery tour?! Such a stupid comment. It was fucked more in 88-90 because of their greedy piece of shit manager.

      He is. Awful. Jon is a lot better. If you judge a singer by one VHS dolby recorded video from 30 years ago near the end of a year long tour you're an idiot. Watch them live in london 1995 to see a proper Bon Jovi show.

    Did anyone see the last song? It was terrible to watch, it was possible to see how much effort he was making, and that he was actually damaging his voice. How the hell no one came to him, to teach him how to sing correctly. Worst performance of my favorite song from him... Now I understand how he completely lost his voice.

      Yeah you really got a wonder.
      Did those business people around him just not care, keep the shows (money) coming & get all you can while you can and so what if this guy burns out, we will move on to the next long hair pretty boy 57:30

      @@angryagain3801 You have a point.
      But couldn't he refuse to do so many shows in a short period of time?
      After all, it's his voice, his work instrument that was being damaged.
      And I dont't know if this can be an ultimate cause for him losing his voice.
      See, Bruce Dickingson from Iron Maiden, did many concerts as well when they were touring. And he can sing pretty well nowadays.
      I guess he's starting to lose his voice now, after The Book Of Souls.

    Even back in 1987 hair bands were using recorded vocals. Listen to Livin on a Prayer. The chorus is absolutely straight from the record. Next tour, the New Jersey Tour, they started playing the song differently and, while not exactly like the recorded version, they were actually singing and it sounded awesome. It's no wonder Jon has lost his voice for good in 2023. Listen to this show. He's hoarse throughout. Subsequent tours, we took vocal lessons and sang much better and his voice held out much longer.

      Notice Tico has headphones on for that song? He had to play to a click so they’re all right on for those canned vocals to sync with the rest of the band. Certainly not Mili Vanilli but not the real thing by any stretch. He figured it out by the next tour though. They rearranged some of the songs and he sounded great for years. Right up until about the time he started smoking and age caught up.
