FRIENDS: I've decided to move ALL Predecessor content to my main channel and to use this channel for Paragon: The Overprime! If you want to support make sure you subscribe to my main channel! www.youtube.com/@Krashy
What worries me about both is that they will split the community and cause low population on both... Paragon original didn't have a large population to begin with it wasn't a very small population but that's what I'm worried about this time around
That’s exactly what will happen and the population for pred will be lower due to the pay wall on their game.
@@cannibalshredz5271 that's only for the early access. For full release both will be free. But yes the split population will be a problem.
@@stormshadow5382 yea for at least 6 months they will have early access, in the mean time Op will have time to establish gaining new players with a progression system and ranked system. People dont want to pay for a unfinished game.
Yeah I have this same worry. Honestly hope one of them wins out and just 99% of players are on one. I'm fine with either
@@landonperry9371 Yeah. It'll be unfortunate for the losing devs, but better overall for the community's future
Go with the one that FEELS the best NOT looks the best.
Predecessor has my vote
I love Omeda Studio's commitment to making a game that feels right and fun first before even thinking about adding and tweaking all the bonus stuff on top
Yea, and then Predecessor has bad latency, then scam players so they can't refund their purchase. That a no for me
@@eteraxsax5440 freakin same bro so scummy
Im enjoying predecessor more gameplay wise and its F2p so thats my vote
@@eteraxsax5440 Damn I hope you don’t go bankrupt by losing $10 dollars 💀 llorón
They should combine forces and just make one that will help reduce work time. Also no morgesh she needs to be added.
Overprime is being made in korea and predecessor is in USA
@MrJeffreyrichards @@k0zar predecessor is UK ,the developer 'omeda studios' base are in london, both games have great ideas the most i like in OP is the bush specially when you play as assassin class or jungle role, hope they add this feature to pred somehow.
The first one who releases on console will win. There are thousands of people on console trying to get a MOBA that replaces SMITE
Judging by who may be closer, gotta give it to Predecessor for giving early access with controller support.
@@Aztec96is it early access on console?
@@Diablopray sadly no, but they have plans for console with cross progression.
also on a technical note, Predecessor is now running completely on Unreal 5 so it'll be supported better and longer and has a lot more access game making util
Overprime implements the same so no real argument
@@refloxi5290 except in Overprime the graphics look like you're playing on a 480p monitor that was touched up and branded as 1080p. Pred is actually utilizing UE5 and can tell
@@bluemau596 Dont know me and my friends didnt have any Probleme with the Resolution, and UE5 in predecessor looks like UE3 in other games so... maybe get some glasses lol
@@refloxi5290 just wrong
On the topic of presentation vs. game play between overprime and predecessor. I and many others would greatly prefer games play well rather than look pretty. I think preserving the smooth and responsive game play loop of the og paragon is crucial for any remake that wants to last for any considerable length of time. It doesn't matter to players (especially ones that won't be playing the game on max settings) whether or not their skins look cool if it doesn't feel just as cool to play the character. For this reason, I feel like predecessor, despite it rolling out slower, will ultimately be the better remake.
also it is much easier to improve the presentation and UI of a game after launch than to make the gameplay feel responsive and impactful :)
@@naruto00nix I disagree with this, they will likely not touch most of the presentation of the game after release. Especially if it's textures/character models. They might fix the UI but it's likely going to look worse than Overprime forever. If Overprime's responsiveness issue is just an optimization thing then it may even launch into early access in a much better state than what he describes in this video, and will probably improve over time regardless.
The video we've all been waiting for lol. Great vid, brother. Love hearing your thoughts and your comparison
I'll go with Predecessor
I love Omeda Studio's commitment to making a game that feels right and fun first before even thinking about adding and tweaking all the bonus stuff on top
Plus it's got the closest gameplay to Monolith Paragon which I prefered over the Legacy map.
Huh i didn't know the two games compete with each other
The bush thing is pretty nice, if you're observant enough you're rewarded by being able to see that there is an enemy there through the rustle
Or i could be wrong maybe it rustles as well for your allies or are you able to see your allies already despite being in the bush
After playing at least 20 hours of both, I honestly don't know which one I prefer. It will probably come down to smaller balance details for me, the one that feels more fair to play will win. But if my friends choose the other one, I don't think I'll mind switching.
Crunch, that it, this guy, this guy only the reason why i prefer Predecessor
is there any difference on how many characters each game has, or is it the same?
ive yet to see someone touch on this but as someone who has never played paragon, I played overprime recently and it didn't feel like a moba to me as much, compared to what ive seen from predecessor especially with the item shop which is the main thing i wanted to touch on , it looks better and seems to be alot easier to maneuver and understand as someone who is new to the game and items
I found predecessor first and its the one i supported the longest, ive also waited for it for so long. When i got the notification "steam has removed predecessor from your library due to the publisher" i was like WHAT then seen that EA started. I was happy, and personally i like predecessor the most
Great video, I pretty much agree with all these points. 👍
the only thing that I like in sprint mode is the animation that could be used in normal walk... like gideon flying instead running
Great comparison!
The gameplay and design choices are why I ultimately choose Pred over OP. The teleporters and the way certain characters feel in OP and sprint mode it just doesn’t feel as good as pred did when I played the stress test. I do think that if pred didn’t exist op would be a decent substitute but because pred does exist I gotta give it to pred
I gotta agree with you predecessor focusing on gameplay optimization is a huge 1 up on overprime which us really clunky and buggy. I never liked travel mode. And the portals are really strong as well as using the prime gaurdian to win
Sprint is fuvking awesome. OP is way more dynamic.
also a very bias opinionid play an see for your self
@@hanncokky773 not really I played all 3 op tests and it never really improved beside frame rate so
@@pandoo967 “dynamic” bro late game is relegated completely to “who’s ADS is not a fucking retard”

I heard of PAragon years ago. Heard good things but never played it myself. recently saw that it's making a come back. Put it on my steam wishlist to keep tabs on it. Got seriously confused when i found another games that looks like it's clone but is a separate games. I thought my brain was malfunctioning at first but lo and behold I find out there's TWO Paragon games about to come out. About to sit down and watch this to find out why that is. Cheers.
There are a few remakes of it. Fault is another one.
Your Flash in Overprime is your starter item. Both games have that option.
Yeah but not for junglers, true though!
3:10 Super agree. I don't know what it is. Is it the HUD information or sound design? Most of the time I didn't know if I hitting something or not
Gameplay is always king. UI isn't hard to change or update but if u can't get gameplay right that's a no go for me.
how it will end look on leagoe of legends and dota
Great video!
I'm interested in how assasin's play without bushes?
So in comparison it really depends on personal preference and experiences, but what i'm wondering about is, which of these 2 feel most similar to the OG Paragon?
Honestly as someone who played the OG paragon when the bundles to play first came out, Overprime is the OG paragon. Predecessor is paragon after the monolith update where they removed the travel mode function while increasing base character speed and shrunk the map. If you want the absolute original gameplay when paragon first came out overprime is the game for you. If you want more traditional moba gameplay then predecessor is probably the better choice
I enjoy Predecessor but I really want to get my hands on some of the other characters that aren't in the game
How were these 2 games released on steam in the same week? Its crazy
Things about Predecessor I want them to improve are the the little camera sway, visual effects, and sound design of abilities and basic attacks cuz it feels like there isn't weight to the attacks compared to Paragon. The announcer are okay, but Paragon's announcer was better imo. The item icons look dull too. The texture of environments, characters, lighting are amazing tho. For the animation, last time I saw it wasn't very 'Paragon' smooth. We're still in early access so there's definitely improvements to come in the future when they get more people on the team.
That's why Overprime is better for me. More subtle things were polished and so last tests were more enjoyable for me.
I've been watching pred for a while as I never played paragon, but love Mobas, so I'm trying both this week.
Mobas flattened out the hype, repeating the traditional formula feels boring to me...what drew me to paragon originally was how unique and stunning it was, and I lamented not coming in time to play the full big map. Still I enjoyed a lot in my potato pc, overprime gets more this feeling of wonder and uniqueness. Don't think the wide field of view and pacing is a detriment, it encourages you even more to stay alert and positioning.
overprime got the naming rights from epic so its the true paragon sucessor
Thanks for the video it was quite informative. I enjoyed your view on what made Predecessor better. Although personally, I'm drawn more to Overprime for similar reasons why you dislike it. Larger open feeling maps, better mobility that isn't on a 5min timer, the ability to see into the jungle, etc.. The graphics and UI MAYBE will get better with Predecessor, similarly the performance COULD get better with Overprime. Who knows, only time will tell. But you can see through the core mechanics, what each game wants to be. And for me I love that Overprime wants to be different and is capable of trying something experimental like with the sprint mode mechanic (I've never seen that one before). On the other hand, Predecessor wants to be a traditional MOBA and nothing is wrong with that. But I was drawn to SMITE because it wasn't like Dota or League, it was similar but uniquely different, and I'd like to think that's what made it popular (maybe I'm wrong). To make a long story short (Too Late!), I'm much more excited to see what new things are going to come from Overprime, than Predecessor. In the end it's all in the names, one wants to be "at a higher level than its best quality" and the other "Just like what came beforehand".
Sprint mode was in the original paragon in the early stages, when the map was huge looked quite similar to overprimes map.. the way they balanced sprint mode however was it automatically activated after a few seconds of not being in combat.. which is a better balancing than overprime has, but they got rid of sprint mode when they made the map smaller and stopped being basically just a team deathmatch style of game
I think overprice might have 2 maps the original and monolith which I love the sprint and the overprime dunking mechanic and teleport is so good in overprime map it makes the solo lane a little more mobile to help and move but also get ganked
overprime has my vote and will ultimately win because it is free like every other moba, i also like to portals adds some skill gape to the game for jg
But the big question we want to know is which one will go to console/s first (ps4/5 only or ps4/5 and Xbox one/series x/s), remember on console it had more players than PC.
itemization felt ctrlc ctrlv. on paragon we had very unic cards such as the art such as the effects.
predecessor is not free to play?
I love alot of the changes over prime has made but wish it was a little more gameplay polished like pred. Pred feels super far away from ranked and ui polish.
Overprime: flash over substance
Predecessor: substance over flash
i feel comepletely different most of my hitching an bug came from pred an not overprime at least from now a days
First time with your content, good job 7/10. Keep working.
overprime has blink on gems one of the starting items that can be upgraded .
Predecessor but with Overprime UI and the a bit more crisp look would be best
There is one simple reason I prefer Overprime to Pred. Pred lacks the feeling of playing a game. Everything just seems shallow. I think the best way to describe it is, whether I am playing or watching someone play doesn't matter. There is no immersion going on.
Hopefully they fixed that since the last time I played, which was half a year or more ago.
Also I think asking for money, when they got so little to show for, is gonna hurt them a lot. Especially with Overprime being free right next to it.
It will be free, but the EA is $10. 100% worth tbh. The player count shows it. Almost, if not over 10k players, which is huge for an EA game.
@@bluemau596 Yeah it will be free in 6-12 months or even longer. We don't know an actual ETA yet. Overprime will be free in 5 days. Also playercount according to steamdb peaked at 7,339. Which I around 25% of what overprime had during during their final Test. So 7.5k is not that big of a number.
@@Raphaelbooje one open limited time beta will peak yeah, free will drag in more and also see a significant drop off faster. if you think 7.5k is too little then im imagining that after a week of OP you will say the exact same right?
@@zoulsgaming9455 we only talking about peak right now. as you said f2p will have more people coming in. not talking about retention
Some good thoughts.
how did we even go from the game shutting down to spawning 2 remakes at the same time lmao

epic games is promoting The overprime, it more like the original paragon with the larger maps.
1 hour until Early Access omg. I havent played Paragon in like 5 years LOL
Imo:
Overprime is like turbo mode in Dota 2 and ARAM for LOL.
Predecessor is just normal mode.
Predecessor has better gameplay feeling, UI, HUD, colors and graphics can be improved... but gameplay?
Wie kann man es vergleichen ohne beide aktuellen test gespielt zuhaben 🤔
Mann konnte doch beide testen, Paragon The Overprime test phase lief doch auch vor kurzem und predecessor davor.
Overprime UI is so much better. I hope Predecessor improves the UI
im just so scared to sink time into one just for it to fail. idk which to choose
This is exactly what I'm feeling currently. I'm so undecided.
the free one ofcourse.. nobody wants to pay to play a moba
Predecessor is more a traditional moba and over prime is a different take and I think that will win. Predecessor will feel dull really fast I think because it is just another moba.
Over primes map is bigger and had more vertical and that is what paragon players loved and what distinguishes paragon over other MOBAs.
I don’t really see the unique selling point of predecessor
But both look great!
All the new and extra things in overprime aren't exactly good design choices. Predecessor's selling point is smooth gameplay with no bugs
I do miss khimera and jungle
I choose Predecessor just because Overprime is involved with Netmarble lmaoo
whichever is free has my vote
I just played predecessor today for the their early access. I like it way better than Overprime. Graphics are better, gameplay is better and the gaming community is nicer. Overprime community is very toxic. Overprime play felt choppy as were Pred felt polished and more clean. I just hope the bring phase back as a support and NOT as a carry or solo like Overprime.
Pred is better and more polished than both PTOP and Fault imo
original paragon game had sprint and bushes in the first edition.
Slightly off topic but…it’s strange to see you without the blue hair!
lol thats old footage XD
Simply fact here : one is free with ranked and more character planned, the
other Ask me money for no options...
Overprime the 8th ! 😉
I mean yeah lmao that's an extremely good point that's gonna sway a LOT of people. Why I'm not so sure Predecessor will last because of its garbage approach to the monetization and launch. One game has way less content with an immediate gate to entry. The other has way more content and is free to play. I wonder which one more people will gravitate to? Not a hard guess lmao.
Its fkn $10 i swear yall are so broke complaining over 10 little dollars. Yall spend $20-$50 on fortnite and cod bundles but cant spend chump change 10 bucks to play a game. Yall gamers these days are backwards
Predecessor is cool and smooth but gameplay choices of overprime is better for me. I hate this small map i predecessor, og map(similar) from paragon and ability to sprint won for me. Predecessor is like Paragon after those changes i didn't liked in the main release, Overprime is the OG paragon mechanics that's a win for me.
In playing whichever is free lol…it’s looking like Overprime for me
Predecessor will be free after the early access. But the lowest EA price is 10 dollars
I'm so fascinated because it seems this rivalry is very tribal, and stemming mostly from OG Paragon players (which I was not). Court of public opinion seems to sway towards Predecessor but from what I've read and seen its mostly due to the fact that Pred is more closely aligned to what Paragon used to be? Ironically I played both in testing previously and thoroughly enjoyed Paragon The Overprime so much more.
I got that feeling as well when playing both games. I definitely get the argument of feel>look but to be honest I really enjoy the feel and flow of both games but definitely like the UI items etc. of Overprime more. I didn’t play a lot of old paragon so I’m judging them in a vacuum based on each games own merits but I think I lean slightly towards Overprime more. Also the tribal nature of the argument is a bit weird for me to watch. People should play the game they prefer and not shit on the other side. It’s harmful to both games for literally no reason
i do believe The Overprime devs wanted to make more like a team-fight based game than the traditional moba formula, and predecessor is a boosted version of OG paragon.
Dont know if you played moba´s at all but it is teamplay that makes wins
they dont have legacy map why everyone says its og paragon, og paragon for me is a legacy map + travel mode + characters from paragon with all their abilities. In Predecessors not every hero has the same abilities like in OG Paragon i.e. Dekker or Howitzer differs from their original versions. This bugs me too much to pick Predecessor over Overprime.
Fans of the original paragon are going to favour predecessor, but the new bandwagoners are gonna jump on overprime because its more visually pleasing and faster paced more deathmatch style not much strategy gameplay
Will nobody talk about the old Deck system?
So from my pov I never really played Paragon so I'm very unfamiliar with the old card system, sorry :(
the card system came at the very end of paragons life and most people hated it. i loved it personally but w.e
dont know if its just me, but pred just felt extremly clunky and unresponsive to me, overall gameplay on op just feels way better for me, but in the open beta a huge downside was the balancing tbh
So is it worth the money ?
@@nchmusic99 in Steam its only 10€ i think, Just try it, the Game is not bad, i Just played both and for me personally OP is the one, you can refund the Game on Steam If its Not yours and for 10€ i think No one can complain. @Lennard Reich nice , but I am not sure should I get the legendary bundle or just get the original version 🤔
Predecessor was better then overprime half a year ago… just try it out now
Would be nice if they all work together and make the TRue paragon game. Item base no card bullshit
Bro he played the game like 7 months ago lol
it sounds like to me you just dont like prime at all it was basically all negative lol
its literally just a video of him saying all the things he doesnt like from overprime lol
I personally will play both, I don't see why people can't just play 2 games, it will be similar to changing game modes, except you'll have to change games. It takes probably an extra minute to make the change. lol
Playing 2 Mobas is just too much time
Playerbase, splitting player base is an issue.. thats why some game choose matchmaking design carefully to not split playerbase within its own game. Playerbase has big role in matchmaking based game
Skins and characters; money. People don't want to have to buy the same character more than once just cause its split in two games attempting a revival. Or skins, I don't want to get a skin for my Grux in Overprime, then be stuck with the default when I feel like playing Predecessor. Splitting the playerbase is the other main one. There's a bunch of extremely important reasons both to the playerbase as well as to the developers.
@@MrWashed_ poor excuse i play league and dota and smite along with playing multiple MMOs
@@dominiquesmith6745 not a poor excuse, that’s nice that you have hours upon hours to

Predecessor
PRED EA IN 1 HOUR!
rip paragon the overprime theyre shutting it down
I've been playing pred recently now it's in early access an it honestly feels worse that it was in the betas, the new hud with only one active item feels trash, items dont really make much sense and the icons are genuinely upsetting. I know its early access and that isnt their priority but some items are so boring. It feels like the player isnt supposed to be thinking about their items which I hate in a moba, e.g. all of the cc cleanse items are automatically used at 40% hp which makes no sense and has literally no skill expression.
TLDR: Items in predecessor dont feel impactful other than being a ball of stats and almost every item is bland and boring.
Also from my experience, teamfights feel terrible in predecessor, if any fight sprawls out into the tiny corridors of the jungle then it's incredibly difficult to tell what is happening with half the cast being able to push you around and knock you into the air it can be hard to tell even how many people are in a fight without the minimap
I have 0 "Zero" idea where this Overprime's lack of smoothness comes from. I have 3070 gpu and 12th get Intel cpu. The game was running on the highest settings. And the first thing I was actually surprised by was how smooth it felt. Everything was responsive. That's not to say Predecessor is less or more smooth. A direct comparison will tell. But i dunno where this point comes about Overprime.
And I actually liked sprint mod, it does bring more dynamic and strategy into the game. If anything I hate feeling slow in this Paragon remakes. As for the vision, seeing the bushes in action, definitely loving this element. It both conceals the enemy but also does not limit the vision. Walls in Predecessor is a completely different feel. I guess it comes to personal preferences. In the end Overprime for me became as good as Predecessor to say the least. I'll see who does beter along the way.
Paid Review bro, that why..
@@wanzmejuez well, the reviewer (I do not know this channel, I just stumbled upon it) does seem to throw all the points in favor of Predecessor. Maybe he just likes it so much. But some of them are a bit weird for me personally and I can't see the objective reasoning behind it. In my case, I will play both games, I love Paragon, this is the only moba I actually like. But so far Overprime seems a bit more interesting with the changes they introduced.
Melee characters felt less smooth to me
Overprime is super clunky it did feel smoth at all and it has a lot if bugs. Last years predecessor test was better gameplay wise
Overprime is not running well for all configs because lacks optimization, and many people complain about the blurry graphics because they don't know that you not only have to turn down motion blur but also anti aliasing quite a bit to make it look more clear. Atm I'd play a Paragon that is polished like predecessor and has everythink else from overprime aha.
From what I watched predecessor looks much more polished and balanced vs over prime which looked very spotty and not as polished.
predecessor paid and have no SA server , overprime free and has SA server.
I heard a comparison previously that I really liked. Overprime is like Dota while Predecessor is like League. I think that about sums up the differences in a nice, easily digestible statement.
Weird, I see it backwards from this lol.
@@Husslehoff yeah, Overprime even copied Rift Herald.
It's the other way around. OP is very much like League more so than Pred in fact League players seem to be more familiar with it than players that play Dota2.
This is 100% biased ,which can be fine if done well but it is not. When you compare elements of the game, you haven't even described the feature yet that you make it sound bad for Overprime. You set the tone to "bad' before even describing it. Predecessor is defenitely more optimized and less laggy, but there are some neat and well polished mechanics in both games.
Pred>over
Hold on a sec, we have TWO Paragon remakes??? What? Why?! I've never heard of such a thing in my life! 😲
Theres actually another called Fault, although it's servers went down recently and there hasn't been much going on with it. I guess lots of people wanted to remake paragon.
@@araccoonstolemyradiator Did they kill Fault already? 😂
@@D1I. I'm not sure, but I haven't heard much about it in the past few months compared to how much I used to hear besides the servers being dead.
@@araccoonstolemyradiator I looked it up and yes… they shut down the servers on Nov. 1st.
Because noone told you, and also because they do zero marketing and expect people to somehow find out about the game lol
Great breakdown of both remakes! Overprime seems a lot closer to the original Paragon, which is great for those who miss it but... Paragon failed for a reason. I think Predecessor's more traditional MOBA styling is the way to go.
You mean Predecessor seems a lot closer to the Original ?
@@NumbersLevin. He said Overprime did 🙂, predecessor is a half finished game that is missing half the features Overprime has.
@@glennmerrill88ify But Overprime is a different Game to the original Paragon.
Overprime just is similar to original paragon in the map art style and the sprint mode, the rest is completely the opposite.
Really I don't understand what you all smoke to say that Overprime seems closer to original Paragon when in gameplay are 2 opposite things, Original Paragon being slow calm and strategic and Overprime being fast, frenetic, and less strategic and more fight centered.
You should go to see a original Paragon gameplay and you will see that compared with Overprime they look that they move in slow motion.
Overprime is more similar to V44 Paragon
paragon was getting more and more players the game was closed cause epic condensed all dev teams into fortnite
I personally like OverPrime much more because Predecessor seems too slow to me. (And Predecessor UI is awful.)
One thing I would like fixed for OverPrime is the blur, though.
Also, Predecessor is a too much normal MOBA. Guys, Paragon failed yes, but it wasn't an extremely big fail as you all think or saying lol.
Epic just pulled the plugs pretty quickly.
Paragon didn't fail, fortnite happened and they didn't have time for paragon with the unexpected sudden growing success of fortnite.
@@izanagisoh1883 still a little fail. But regardless as I said, that wasn't a big one, Epic just pulled the plugs too quickly.
I don't like the bushes
Pred looking pretty old, and bland in pace to the game people will get bored fast. Making people pay to play Early access with no ranked, battle pass, or store is a bad move. The bushes, portals, and sprint mode make Overprime more fun in the sense that you have tools to make plays.
Honestly neither team is actually developing anything, they're both simply monetizing Paragon's corpse and I find it really sad. Neither game is what Paragon was, Pred lacks characters and the ui is garbage, while Prime is clunky and apparently scummy with the whole terms of service/spyware. Neither game is implementing a card system, they both went for the generic, uninspired, hard to read moba item shop.
So yeah, I really hope whoever wins the fight, everybody decides to just play the same game so the playerbase is big enough to have daddy Epic Games love us again, buy the game back or something and resume development (actual development this time), because they're the only people that knows how Paragon should feel.
Predecessor just lost my support cause they are raising fons for years and dont deliver a f2p gamelike all other moba
I think both games are going to be successful like LOL and DOTA , two similiar games but with diferents caracteristics that make them actually diferents ,its really nice we have the choise to make.
Why are people so adamant about being a fanboy for pred or OP? Only time will tell and the best will survive.
Good question
The one that plays better will survive
Most gamers don't have time to play multiple mobas, so I'm here to pick one to start up. Not a fan boy as I haven't played either yet, gonna watch a couple more comparison videos.
My issue with Predecessor is that its feels TOO close to paragon which is fine but after playing Overprime. The jungle monster designs where amazing, skin design where outstanding. Predecessor still has that stale looking jungle of a reskinned fire man or soldiers and bugs, skins arent amazing atm this just gave us basic skins for now. it would be nice if the companies jsut kinda merged to create Paragon remake together. Overprime team focusing on visual design and Predecessor team working on gameplay and balance.
Both games will fail
First person is not the way to go
Both of these "devs" just copied and pasted paragon
Even the map is the same on both lol
The game clearly should have been remade as a top down 3rd person moba like dota or league
This is not the way
Smite already clearly is the best first person moba
Smite is not nearly as popular as either league or dota.... so why make another... first person... moba
Bad idea
Pred dropped today
It's better
