i think its less the health because that stab through the neck only broke through some of the armor before you can start damaging their health. its just weird that the game chooses such brutal, obviously fatal, animations to play when it knows you're only taking off their armor and not damaging them yet health wise.
like i wonder how much damage that same move would do to the enemy when the enemies armor is all off, or if the damage would be the same. if the damage is the same then thats really lame
I watched a video earlier where they said on different difficulties stealth is more of challenge but keep in mind this is a Ubisoft game their AI when it comes to stealth has never been great even in the early days of AC
So for the stealth, the difficulty you chose directly impacts how smart the AI for the guards and npcs are. For example if you play on normal like in this clip, the guards have a limited and small field of vision meaning even if you’re over them and right in front of them like on a ledge they won’t see you. It makes the game a bit easier. On a more difficult setting the guards’ field of vision is much larger and they can actually see upwards now and detect you if they see you on a roof or ledge. On the hardest setting the guards will actually try to look for you like they will peak around corners occasionally and sift through grass etc.
Because it should have improved in the last decade. Saying that a game that was released 10+ years ago had the same issues isn't a solid defence @@Solarflare589
I think it looks that way because of the armor stat. It's basically a health bar that gets depleted first before real health damage (this is bypassed by stealth attack, which hits main health right away). Edit: the enemies also block and side step way more than before, which is probably dragging out some combat sequences.
If you're good at RPGs you can probably make your characters deal a lot more damage than in this presentation. At least in Odyssey I could slice through enemies pretty quickly. Just have to optimize your build. Also I'm sure actually being good at the combat will make it go faster if you actually land your skills at the right time and hit crits when the enemy is vulnerable etcetera.
combat looks pretty good, my main concern is the AI. It feels like they have zero awareness of their surroundings as some of them were literally just staring at a wall doing nothing. I also wished the enemies would have conversations with each other so it feels more realistic and not just an arcade stealth game.

Ever since the og assassins creed I Nvr liked using eagle vision to have everyone perma marked thru walls or have a fat ugly icon. I’m so glad u can use eagle vision and can actually look at people without them getting marked. Makes stealth so much better imo when u can’t constantly see where ppl are. Great choice change
Yep, most recently I played Syndicate and it had that same "eagle vision once, everyone is marked forever" type of mechanic. Really glad you can pick and choose
Ubisoft should have really centered this game around Naoe. She looks way more fun to play. Yasuke's gameplay looks so clunky, especially when Ghost of Tsushima's sword fighting is SO much better. I liked what I saw of Naoe's gameplay though.
It's to hide the enemy models being forced into position. Either way it would be distracting, but I agree. I'd rather see a little bit of model jank than the disorientation that comes with a sudden camera angle change, because that affects the gameplay.
Animations look like frames are dropping. I'm good with Ghost of Tsushima its much smoother. Its a shame because Ubisoft did put work into this I'm sure. Its just too little too late. We asked for a game in Japan years ago and you didnt listen. This is what happens when you don't listen to the fans.

I don’t know why they just decided to switch to rpg.. there might be plenty of problems and all. BUT the worst in it is hyper armour enemies have. You slice them and they just ignore it but take damage, like you hit an air. Before at least you hit an enemy and you see him take damage and get stunned, or even if enemy blocks then it’s proper block or parry with sword or whatever. Return realistic fight choreography
Apparently its really difficult to animate opening doors in games. That’s why you only see big companies like naughty dog and rockstar have actual opening door animations.

idk if i like the combat as much. Felt like spongyness of enemies depends on character choices. I use to like AC Unity when enemies counter attacks were fun and somewat OP, especially fight in groups, and you hold enemy as a shield doing rifle fires. They do have rifles in this era too.

I'm hyped for the game but I'll only play stealthily by doing assassinations, I don't like the fact that you can litteraly stab the neck of an enemy and he's still standing. It entirely removes the "badass" side of being an assassin.
I know these are higher level enemies for the most part, but really don't like how much damage they seem to take in general. Makes combat seem like it'll be a chore, and feels antithetical to the sort of Samurai and Ninja media this would be taking inspiration from, where the kills are very quick and not drawn out except when there's some big duel going on.
I’m a huge fan of AC so I’ll play this for sure. But I was hoping for a more immersive game this still feels very arcade-y like the last few games and I wasn’t a fan of that combat. I missed the syndicate and ac3 style just wish we can get a better version of that. But great visuals, hope the story is great. Definitely will be playing on the hardest difficulty as well. Looks easy

There is an option in the settings to turn off levels and such if you so choose. You can also turn on guaranteed assassinations as well.

Luke Stephens said there is a difficulty setting that makes stealth way harder and changes ai behaviour. I hope that's true for combat as well.

idk if i like the combat as much. Felt like spongyness of enemies depends on character choices. I use to like AC Unity when enemies counter attacks were fun and somewat OP, especially fight in groups, and you hold enemy as a shield doing rifle fires. They do have rifles in this era too.
I don't like how so many enemies stay still and just fall after a kill
What did they to the blood splatter effects? Or they toned it down for previews?
I was watching his live play and he said he turned blood off, its a toggle feature

I feel like shadows is better then the previous ac games but I think when ghost of yotei comes out it’s gonna wipe this game out, but this isn’t the finished product so we can’t fully scale on how good this game is gonna be just yet

Im honestly not even gonna bother playing Yasuke, only when mission requires me to.
I'm hyped for the game but I'll only play stealthily by doing assassinations, I don't like the fact that you can litteraly stab the neck of an enemy and he's still standing. It entirely removes the "badass" side of being an assassin.
That double assassination looked awfully glitchy.
I know these are higher level enemies for the most part, but really don't like how much damage they seem to take in general. Makes combat seem like it'll be a chore, and feels antithetical to the sort of Samurai and Ninja media this would be taking inspiration from, where the kills are very quick and not drawn out except when there's some big duel going on.
Was Blood Disabled or Reduced in this Gameplay as I swear it's been vastly lessened if not

I’m a huge fan of AC so I’ll play this for sure. But I was hoping for a more immersive game this still feels very arcade-y like the last few games and I wasn’t a fan of that combat. I missed the syndicate and ac3 style just wish we can get a better version of that. But great visuals, hope the story is great. Definitely will be playing on the hardest difficulty as well. Looks easy
Amazing. Only thing they definitely should put an option to remove the camera angle switch during double assassinations. (Btw FINALLY double assassinations after 10 YEARS)
All the hype over the new lighting system for stealth, and the enemies still have zero situational awareness in broad daylight 🙄

Only things I don't really like is the black n white effect and the sound effects for the health, xp and pick ups being similar to valhalla .. other than that it looks incredible
