During my military days, I was stationed north of Venice for two years. I was a 19 year old kid and absolutely loved everything about Italy. Somedays if we were bored, we'd take the train to Venice, walk out of the train station & always find a cheap room for a couple of nights. Venice is one of my all-time favorite cities. Just wandering the city at all hours is a treat.
I was at the Tampa airport in 2021. We were visiting in from LA. One of the nicest airports I’ve ever been to. Haven’t been to Europe yet, but Italy is at the top of the list. Can’t wait to make it there one day, but I am not looking forward to the flight from Los Angeles. Thanks for sharing Tony.
This is an extremely informative video. Thank you for showing the process of getting to Venice and showing other very good information and experiences.
I agree, I love traveling with Tony! Can't wait to see the rest of your adventure...thanks Norwegian for asking Tony (and Doug and the rest of the vloggers) to see the progress on the new ship!
Venice, we just spent 3 days in Venice in May. Stayed at the Hotel Rialto right by the bridge. We were there during the Rigatta, which shut down the canal to only hand paddled boats for the day. What a great time. Good job getting NCL to pick up the tab. The taxi ride to the airport would have been $250€ for us, so we took the “bus” for 15€.
Such a beautiful city!! So glad you were invited and sharing this with us!! We hope to go to Italy next year for our 10th anniversary, to be toured by our amazing friends from Switzerland! We met them on a cruise, the beginning of the year- we hosted them in Florida and we so enjoyed their company!! Can’t wait!!
Hi, Tony! I have cruised extensively but mainly in the Caribbean. Thank you for exposing us to so many exotic, extravagant, and interesting places! Keep on cruising! 🚢✈🚆!!! Thank you! Aloha!
The minute I saw all that lattice work in your hotel room I had flashbacks of going to confession. LOL I also would have laughed at the 7k upgrade...ummmmm, no. I can't wait to see the Aqua. Thanks for making the trip!
This is so cool Tony! I’m booked on Explorer of the Seas, Ravenna to Barcelona next September and I’m flying into Venice for a few days before! You got me so stoked! Thanks man!!
What an incredible opportunity with NCL! Loved Venice last year. Spent a few days there before a Celebrity cruise out of Ravenna. Absolutely loved all of the alleys and just getting lost in the maze of Venice. Food was AWESOME. Have fun!!!
That’s awesome that you get invited to check out the ship yard. I just watched Doug’s video from the beautiful ocean and didn’t realize you were the camera man. Thumbs 👍🏼 up! Thanks Tony, have fun.
That upgrade was STUPID! No one in their right mind would upgrade, which is too bad. Loved the first look at Venice. Haven't been there, on the bucket list. Looking forward to seeing more of your visit.
This is so awesome!!!! Venice is beautiful already!!!! That’s so cool coming from the airport straight to the water!!!! Can’t wait to see more videos!! I know your so excited!!!!
Thank you so much for sharing this trip with us, Tony B! Venice, and Italy in general, has been my absolute DREAM forever!! I really hope i can get there someday! The boat taxis are so cool!!!
This is so cool Tony! Thank you so much for bringing us along and how awesome that NCL brought y’all there! The flight prices are out of control. And I loved the water taxi! Can’t wait to see more!!
Congratulations being invited by NCL to the shipyard for the Aqua build. We cruise NCL all the time and would like to go on the Aqua so looking forward to your review. Love Venice and even with a map we got lost...it just added to the confusion!! Enjoy the coffee and proseco plus everything else of course.!!
I'm so excited for you, Italy is a fabulous country and one of our favorite cruises was out of Venice, I'm really looking forward to watching your experience there, I know you will have an incredible time!!!
The closer to travel date the higher the price is, I booked our November Mediterranean cruise in February, my business class air going outbound from LAX to VENICE and return from Barcelona to LAX was a little over $3900 per person. We had a problem when they change a flight time so I went to see other flights recently and just plugging in from Barcelona to LAX was 13,000 for business class on way!😳😳😳
They constantly play games with adjusting the prices. The $499 upgrade I got for my BOS > AMS flight back in July showed up about a week before the flight. I had been checking occasionally and the price was all over the place, typically ranging from $1500-3500. When I happened to notice the $499 price, I grabbed it before they changed their minds and jacked the price up again. I'm sort of surprised that they wouldn't drop the price at the last minute in something like Tony's case as it doesn't really cost them much extra to have someone sit on the Delta One seat vs the Comfort+ seat, so why not get an extra $500 from the passenger? That might also result in another passenger paying a few bucks to upgrade to the now vacant Comfort+ seat. Like I said in another post, having flown Delta One once now, I honestly don't think it's worth paying much for as I just didn't find it much more comfortable than domestic first class on Delta. I would probably do it again for $500 on anything longer than a 5-6 hour flight, but I don't think I would pay much more than that for it. Definitely not what they wanted to charge Tony. The problem you mention about the airlines changing flight times is a real pain at times. For my flight to Auckland in February, I had originally scheduled my BOS > LAX flight to give me a ~4-5 hour layover. They recently canceled that flight and moved me to another flight with a ONE hour layover. With only 1 flight going to Auckland per day, there's no way I was going to cut it that tight. Fortunately, I was able to get moved to a different flight. I now have a 12.5 hour layover, which is a long time to hang around the airport, but it gives me peace of mind in case my flight from Boston gets delayed. I'm going to Auckland for a cruise, so the plan is to arrive in Auckland Friday morning with the cruise leaving port Sunday afternoon, also giving me time to work through potential flight issues. See Tony - some of us do listen about arriving before the day of the cruise :).
International First Class is always insanely priced, even more so that domestic first class. Upgrading to First Class the day of the flight is always the most expensive to get a first class seat. It's opposite of cruise cabin upgrades.
We fly into Venice Marco Polo next year to pick up a cruise on Queen Victoria from Trieste. We’re staying in Venice for a few nights at a hotel on the Grand Canal so I really hope we get a water-taxi transfer! Hope you have a great time.
Yesss 7,000 insane, yeah thats GOOD CRUISE or VACATION money. Wow I’ve never seen this part of Venice and now is enough to make me want to go, everything super beautiful. Always wanted to visit places but this bit I’ve seen from Venice placed that destination in the top of my list. GREAT VIDEO, EXCITED TO SEE MORE ABOUT YOUR TRIP.
7K for the upgrade does seem high. Although I can see how it would be so tempting for an international flight. Your room looks so beautiful and colorful! Thanks for taking us along with you on your adventures!
Italy, a beautiful place, the tourist places can be very, very busy and pricey , a few streets/canals back, equally beautiful and cheaper ! The smaller towns and rural areas are just gorgeous !
Tony, I find that virtually all of my electronic devices and chargers will run on 110v-220v so all I bring are very small plug adapters for the areas we are visiting. We always carry European adapters as they are the most common and are often found on cruise ships so it adds to our charging capability in the stateroom.
I will be anxious to see the AQUA. I have been on the PRIMA several times and will be on it in January. I have also been on the VIVA. The AQUA is supposed to be bigger and will not have the race track. Enjoy your stay in Venice. I have spent a lot of time in Venice. We have cruised out of Venice many times and we always make sure to spend time before the cruise. 👍
I think that travel adapter you bought is just a plug adapter, not a voltage converter. Unless your CPAP is dual voltage, you're going to still have a problem.
Most CPAPs have bricks just like a laptop. While I associate dual voltage with a switch to change power those bricks are automatic. The charger plugs for your phones used to also run on either but I have to check just to be sure I didn’t find one that doesn’t.
We did a cruise out of Venice two years ago... Our luggage was lost at our layover in Belgium, so we spent 4 days waiting for our luggage to show up while in Venice. - It showed up 2 hours before we left to the cruise port. The strangest thing is we still go to the cruise terminal to go through security and get your boarding stuff done. Then you jump a bus to another city to get on the boats since they limit the actual cruise ships from coming to the port right there.
Great timing on this video, as we're headed to Venice next week! We're doing a land tour. Our only previous Italian experience was in La Spezia and the Cinque Terre for the day (on a Mediterranean cruise). Enjoy your time checking out the Aqua! By the way, Tony: How did you get through this entire video without mentioning the *full* name of the hotel: The Hotel Excelsior Venice LIDO Resort! Too perfect!
Tony you handle travel so gracefully! After that long trip, I would not be camera ready ! Looking forward to this trip videos because you do a wonderful job when taking us along . Travel safe, have a wonderful time, can't wait for your video to experience this with you!
Hi Tony, watching from Sydney, Australia. I am SO Jealous right now. I love Venice, I went there on my holidays back in July 2006, and been dreaming of going back again one day. Maybe next time on a cruise. Have a wonderful time. 🛳️🇦🇺🦘🐨🏖️🌊
You certainly scored and deserve it,,,,how wonderful...beautiful Tampa airport lounge and Venice airport and wowowowo water taxi right there and hotel...loveld this to the max...thank you. Yes...wild,,,$7000 to upgrade...but I guess it is Venice,,,someplace i deeply want to return.
Back in 1998 on a tour bus heading to the water taxi's in Venice we passed the shipyard and I saw the Disney Magic up in dry dock!!! I have a blurry picture somewhere.
be SURE to have libations at the Danieli Hotel on the Grand Canal...it was a palace and is amazing to step back in time When you are in the ship yard see if you and get a peek at the Star Princess
Enjoy! Venice is one of the coolest places I’ve been. Was there in 2019 before the cruise ship ban. Ended a cruise there and spent 3 days. Murano is fun if you have time.
To be invited to see the progress of a ship being built, what a honor. Not to mention how cool is that. Can’t wait for more videos of this trip.
We're the lucky ones! 💙
They know that many thousands watch Tony's videos, so it's inexpensive advertising for them.

Hi Tony! Hi Sherri Doug and Ilana! What a great group, have the best time!

So beautiful to see Venice again! I was there 15 years ago. Pro tip: Don't get lost in the maze of alley ways! Enjoy your time there!
That's the charm of Venice, you MUST get lost at least once!
@@elainebyrne1039 100% -- you can't *really* get lost. But wandering around is fun!!
@@iocat I found that prices were much cheaper if you got off of San Marcos Square for food and drink.
Yea, get lost, but not really, because you are on an island.

Love, love Venice. Enjoy.
Thanks for allowing us to travel vicariously through you👍😎
Never been to Venice but how amazing to see the water taxis at the airport like that....
I am kind of new to cruising but I am now giving thought to a European trip to Venice! Thanks for sharing your fantastic adventures with us! ENJOY!
Hi, Tony! I have cruised extensively but mainly in the Caribbean. Thank you for exposing us to so many exotic, extravagant, and interesting places! Keep on cruising! 🚢✈🚆!!! Thank you! Aloha!
Water Taxi is pricey, but really fun. Great city to visit!
Yes. That was our disembarkation Port on a Greece cruise and learned real quick that the water BUS is the way to go
The minute I saw all that lattice work in your hotel room I had flashbacks of going to confession. LOL
I also would have laughed at the 7k upgrade...ummmmm, no. I can't wait to see the Aqua. Thanks for making the trip!
I was blessed to go to Venice in 2022 for a cruise. It was gorgeous and one of the most unique cities I ever visited. Enjoy!!

Water taxi’s, Tony…the best!
That upgrade is insane! $7,000! Much as I hate transAtlantic flights sitting up straight, hopeless to sleep, I can’t fork out that much dough!
That’s awesome that you get invited to check out the ship yard. I just watched Doug’s video from the beautiful ocean and didn’t realize you were the camera man. Thumbs 👍🏼 up! Thanks Tony, have fun.

Venice is such a magical place. Enjoy! Don’t forget to try some cicchetti!
The Guif of Venice is the water you see and it leads to the Adriatic Sea. Awesome you are invited there and get to see the ship! Enjoy Venezia!
Your video reminds me of our stay in Venice and the cruise ship left from there for our Mediterranean cruise.

I flew to Italy for my first Europe cruise last Dec. I got an upgrade for $554. My total flight was 1471. I knew I would never get that again .
One of the cooler videos you've done. Thanks for bringing us along.
Thank you! Glad you got to see Venice!

That’s a neat event to go to. I hope you record everything.

I took the train in from Padova a few years ago and noticed the Prima being finished at the Fincantieri shipyard. Enjoy!

Don't know if anyone said it yet, but you bought an adapter, not a converter. You need a converter for 110w appliances.
I think with all of us, he’ll probably post: “ Got It!”
Have a great time in Venice. I was there 2 years ago, it was phenomenal!
Hi Tony, you know an adapter is just for the plug. It doesn't cycle down the power. So make sure your Cpap is OK with 220 power. Laptops are.
I just posted this as well.
@@itsalingthing1 me too!
I love Venice. Didn’t get to Lido while I was there. Spent most of my time on Venezia. Looks beautiful
CRUISE TIME!!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Such a wonderful experience! Hope you are able to go back for a Med cruise soon!
love Italy, was there in 2019 left from Venice and water taxi to an airport is really weird and different. Enjoy!

I'll be in Venice next week for 2 nights, can't wait.
Just looked Tony’s CPAP up, yes it also runs on 110-240v
You are in excellent company! You will love love Venice. I need to go back. I got chills watching your video.
