"Hey there, if you go to the Serato settings then un check 'Show iTunes Library' under the library tab. Then go back to your library you should be able to delete the orange one's that are left. After that simply re check 'Show iTunes Library' again.
the latest way i've found is to rename all track filenames with a # in front of them using MP3tag then all those that fail to rename, are duplicates.... Delete the duplicates, then remove the # from the rest of the files again using Mp3Tag... Great software for renaming, editing tags, it can also rename the actual files themselves to match the ID3 tags and standardise all your songs... amazing time saver... and simple :)
Ok so what happens when they reappear every time you restart serato? I've totally deleted the duplicates and everything is in the proper location now and shows up, however all the duplicates I deleted reappear in my serato library and I have to scan and delete every single time
@@familialicea2003 I was looking for the answer to this too. You have to go to your Settings in Serato, uncheck "Show iTunes Library," go back to your Serato Library (not sure if this part is necessary), then you can go back into the settings and re-check it. All of the songs with the ? + background should be gone.
Removing the missing files from serato will also remove those files from crates they where in. I want to have one file on my hard drive and no duplicates but sometimes I want to have the same file still in several crates. So this will not solve this problem
I’m not sure if this is related, but the other day I did exactly what you just did and I clicked the button in Serato to organize them to show the duplicates. I deleted the duplicates and I just did a gig last night and none of my crates were showing? They all got deleted. Not sure if this is related but I need help. All of my music is stored on iTunes, I still have all my music just not the crates.
Can you suggest a good alternative to itunes for managing music. apple music is now totally unusable. Itunes 10.7 was great but is no longer compatible on new macs.
Please help I'm having trouble understanding the situation when the play list turn blue indicating you have played the song at the end of the event how do I get list to turn white again
I can delete tracks from my ITunes library, but, when I scroll down to my SoundCloud library, any track that I click on, and hit ctrl/delete, the track is still there. I had recently uploaded a few new tracks, but, when I went to have the tracks analyzed, there were a number of tracks that I never added to my library (94 to be exact) what can I do to delete these tracks?
whats up crossfader.. is it a way to find the most recently added or downloaded songs on serato?..be cause ill add a song forget the name sometimes and cant find it
+tyrone jacobs yeah you should have a date added header in your library. If it's not there just right click up where it says name/artist/bpm etc and tick date added. You can then organise either ascending or descending.
Hi, how are you man ? I have a lot of duplicate files to delete. I would like to the bpms as I am deleting them In order to do a better job. How can i see them ?
his is for Serato DJs when I delete song why do they come back protect Library after I delete the song but the next time I open Serato the songs are back
I need help anyone, serato won't read my Windows Media player playlists, they are just blank, so I had to just add all my music files but serato has broken them down into artists only so I added all of them and now I have three thousand songs with no organization, do I really have to go through all the songs and start adding them individually to specific crates or is there a way I can go into my PC or windows media player and make playlists that WILL show up in serato and I can just add the playlist from serato to the crates
How do you easily sync your Serato between multiple Computers? If i add Cues, Colour Codes, Flips ect to My Main Music Archive on Desktop what is the best and reliable way to sink them to and external HDD i use for My Serato Laptop? Desktop has the Serato Folder in the Default Music Folder and the internal Music Archive HDD. Laptop has the Serato Folder in Default Music Folder and the External HDD i store its Music on? I know certain info like Key and BPM is written straight to each individual .mp3 files ID3 Tags but Flips, Hotcues, Colour coding ect are not so just Mirroring said .MP3 files between the 2 seperate Drive locations with Backup software doesn't cut it?
For my iTunes this is not the case at all. I find that if I don't right click on the track in the library and select 'show in finder' and delete the track from the finder and THEN delete it from the library, the damn thing still shows as yellow every time I play in Serato and it shows up again every time I open iTunes after rebooting, only if you make the mistake of clicking on it you're prompted to locate the missing file, in which you already know there's no point in locating it because you already deleted it. In this scenario I find it integral to give iTunes a file to find otherwise this will repeat regardless. I drag an track to the desktop (doesn't matter which it's just making a copy of something already in your library) and then when prompted to find the missing track I click ok and then direct it to whatever I just dragged from iTunes to the desktop, allow it to become the track I dragged to the desktop and follow the steps above: I right click it, select 'show in finder' and delete it from there. Somebody please tell me I'm a fool for doing things this way and give me a super easy way. Maybe I have something mischecked in my iTunes preferences? I personally think that it's ridiculous I have to do this not to mention a nightmare of time wasting.

Crossfader - True... but next time you open Serato all the deleted 'missing' files are back!!! :-( You need to delete them from iTunes FIRST ([Ctrl]/[Cmd] + [Backspace]/[Delete])
Doesn't rescanning ID tags delete your cues flips loops and how you renamed songs (all your edits). Won't Deleting songs from your Music Folder using Dupu take them out of Serato also in which that duplicate might be the one that you made edits to? Very scary !
+ken ark hey there. If you right click the column headers you can add a bpm column. Once you have done that you will need to select all your library then right click and select get info. Then change something in a column you don't use such as comments. This will then re scan the id3 tags
i got everything but i wasn't able to do the comments part..comments section has space to type something and wasn't sure..and some of my songs bpm are not showing, how do i fix it to show the bpm
Useful video... 2 things you missed - When deleting duplicate files DON'T select ALL, as the list contains ALL copies of duplicate files, so you won't have any copies left if you delete ALL! Second, how do you delete files with the iTunes logo background? You only showed how to delete files with a plain '?' symbol, not a '?' with the iTunes logo background...
Wish that’s no good. How did this end up happening? Sorry to hear it. Can you share your experience so others can be wary as we had it work well for us personally.
As for the iTunes logo symbols. Just go to Serato DJs settings and deselect show iTunes library. Then go back to your library where you’ll be able to delete these orange files. After re enable show iTunes library.
That doesn't work... (I found out) you have to delete them from within iTunes FIRST (Ctrl/Cmd+Delete/Backspace), otherwise when you re-enable 'Show iTunes Library' in Serato they will all re-appear next time you start Serato!!!
Cool tip! After deleting from the source I usually click on "Relocate Lost Files".... its says "no files are missing" but once you click on the thingy on the left like you said you find all missing tracks....
I'M HERE TO LEARN HOW TO REMOVE DUPLICATE FILES, ON FUCKING SERATO, IF YOU WERE GONNA DO AN APPLE MUSIC TUTORIAL, ATLEAST SAY ITS APPLE/ ITUNES. IM USING WINDOWS, AND YOUR INSTRUCTIONS ARE USELESS AND NOT FOR SERATO

What about the rest?
What is with his accent, loving it!
Fellow DJ's: The actual guide on how to delete duplicate files starts around 3:40, before that he's talking about himself and iTunes.
this was crazy to watch...organization to a whole new level. You and Cee B are doing the Lord's work for real!
there are some songs that don't have a file anymore. if I delete them and reopen Serato, they are back in there. how can I delete them permanently?
When you remove the orange files from the library when you close the program and open it back up they're back...wtf 🤷🏿♂️
What about the ones with the background around the question mark?

Thank you for this. I was not about to manually delete 26,810 duplicate files (moved library to a new laptop).
Thank you so much. You guys just saved me hours of hair pulling frustration.

Brooo I’m having the same issue. They reappear in yellow and it doesn’t let me delete it even though it says the file isn’t found.
What about the other ones with the question mark and solid background??
Did you get an answer to this I’m having trouble getting rid of the ones with the background

exactly what i thought ,,, and this method is stupid and will make you lose all the songs in the crates you have made ,,,,
Helped me... Thank you!
Does this mess up your crates ?
Traktor is as simple as right click, delete duplicates? YES! Job done! Can't be bothered with all this.

Which buttons to delete question marks
CTRL + Delete.
Highlight all songs with the question mark and press Ctrl + Delete in Serato.
What about pc's?
thanks for the information.etc
+Matt Mcclain our pleasure!
how did you get your music bpm to show up on iTunes

Still doesn’t help me know how to delete hundreds of duplicates actually in serato

you can click just show duplicates. much faster than one by one!!!!
Serato itself, has no option to delete duplicate files.
And no one here thinks this is horsesh-t?? This is an organizational nightmare
FUKIN, AYE!!!!! THANK YOU !!!!!
So could we use the same process theoretically for Rekordbox?
Use DupeGuru and then any files we deleted should appear as missing in Rekordbox?
+David Tramacchi that's correct. You can then click file and show missing files in rekordbox to do a bulk delete too.
Cool tip! After deleting from the source I usually click on "Relocate Lost Files".... its says "no files are missing" but once you click on the thingy on the left like you said you find all missing tracks....
