In the TV series, everyone (including Treize and Zechs) were specifically fighting for an era where people like them are unnecessary. Unfortunately for them, by the end of TV series, it still turned out that they were necessary, and therefore couldn't get their wish. And the reason for that is because 1) By human nature, there will always be hostile selfish forces, and 2) The regular citizens just wanted the result of peace but not actually fight for it. It was a bittersweet ending. Evidently, the producers realized the bittersweetness of the ending (probably), so they made Endless Waltz, where by the end of the movie, it was the REGULAR people who rose up and fought against the hostile force, which ultimately ended the war. Remember, the hostile force was 99+% composed of soldiers who were angry that the regular citizens took peace for granted and didn't actually do anything to deserve it. But because the regular citizens all over the country rose up and fought for the peace, the fight became unnecessary (Releena made this point very clear in the broadcast, and all the soldiers agreed). The top bad guy just wanted the power, so when he tried to take over, he was killed by one of the regular soldiers. That was actually a good ending.
For the past few weeks I've been wanting to listen to this song again but I couldn't remember the name or anime it was from. A few synchronisities happened today and I'm finally able to hear this beautiful production again after well more than a decade! Looking up the lyrics I can see why I loved the song so much. @@mangor96不會啦，以當年來說，如果把正史UC系列算進去，除了GP-02A的核彈頭以外，也只有wing能一砲ㄧ個殖民地，還有打不壞的裝甲，如果是第一次接觸鋼彈就看W的人，會有錯覺以為鋼彈的武力、裝甲都這麼強，其實沒有⋯
