How do you think Maresca will get on at Chelsea?
Depends if fans are stupid enough to want him out if he doesn't finish top 4, the aim should be 7-5th this year. We don't have the consistency needed to get top 4 and it's likely the players will do the same shit as they did last year, try in big games & not try in games they think are below them.

@@TDI279 It mite be the aim but it's unrealistic, Could be do able if things fall right. The whole squad is effectively 18 months old with a new manager coming in, I'd happily take 7-5th next season. When Poch came in I wanted 10-7th, year two I wanted 7-5th year 3 top 4 not changing my time line. I'm fine with our squad just needs time together and to mature a little. I wouldn't change it with anybody around us as our future looks much better, but it ain't their yet

6. Flip flopping between giving certain players a pass for injuries whilst ignoring other players injuries (and subsequent tactical changes which cause other players to play out of position) suggests the take is perhaps more emotional than actually analytical.
We were spoilt as Chelsea fans when this bloke became a fan; and it shows. This level of understanding is exactly what is frustrating proper fans and just fuels the ridicule we cop.

I do respect Rory's opinion. But mark my words, Enzo Fernandez is set to become one of the top players in the world in his position within the next six months. Under Maresca's system and free from hernia issues, he will rise to be one of our top players in the 2024/25 seasons.
Honestly it makes me crazy how people have written him off. Without him last last season we would’ve been in relegation threat instead of 12th. Poch tactics made our best playmaker, a damn SS and at times striker 🤣 we will be on the right side of history

Chelsea have made some really shrewd signings, If you look at the signing of Kendry Paez for just 20 million euro is an absolute steal. If he was playing in Brazil he would have gone for more than 60 million. They moved fast for Estevao Willian. Got Adarabioyo on free transfer who is a decent defender. Again, There is some concerns too, If you look at the RW position, Chelsea has Madueke, Angelo Gabriel, Omari Hutchinson, Kendry Paez and Estevao Willian. And if you look at the LW position we only have Mudryk and Sterling and Jackson sometimes. At this point I think Chelsea is trying to buy all the good talents and will keep the ones who will click and sell the rest of them I think.

This is where I digress to the consortium and the technical directors. Maresca will first have to take a shot at getting the elite players off the mark - WFofana, Lavia, Mudryk, Fernández, Nkunku, Cucurella. Next decision is left back - Cucurella, Maatsen or Chilwell. From there he has to accept concessions on: Chalobah, Gallagher, Maatsen, Sterling (in lieu of developing Jackson and Mudryk).
Maresca has to identify definitive roles for: Madeuke, Chukwuemeka, James/Gusto, Colwill/Badiashile. Important future pieces.
Another challenge will be what to do with: Sarr, DFofana, Disasi, Casadei, Santos, Washington and maturing academy stars.
Sell: Sánchez, Lukaku, Kepa, Ziyech, Hall, Broja, Maatsen?
All of these players will outlive Maresca

Shockingly, I agree with most of this flip-flopper's picks. Enzo does need to deliver this season. He has been underwhelming, and I struggle to remember 3 matches where he actually bossed it. On Sterling, I can't stand the guy, but if Maresca is plagiarising Pep's blueprint, then Sterling may thrive. I truly hope it works out next season because we have a pretty solid squad that should qualify for the CL and win a trophy or two.

I agree with you, Rory. Enzo Fernandez is slow and holds onto the ball too much, not at all like a modern Premier League midfielder and definitely not someone who can become a midfield maestro. However, the Chelsea management doesn't want to lose face, considering they spent 120 million on him. I think they fired Pochettino and hired Maresca instead as head coach just to make Enzo Fernandez the core playmaker, with the team building and tactical approach entirely centered around him. We do have footballing people running the club.
In fact, we don’t only have a footballing director, we have two footballing directors. Nobody else has that.
Now, it could be to our detriment, but the dury is still out on that. However the point isn’t whether it’s good for us it’s that we have footballing people in the club leading it that have the power.
Boehly and co. Have essentially said to them all, ‘we went chelsea to have an identity to how they play, a that it never changes whatever head coach you have, for continuity, so you don’t have to keep switching players all the time to fit different systems

Mudryk has shown good signs when he was on the field. Poch didn't give him much playing time until a certain game where he took him off and he had played great up until that point which angered the fans. Overall even though he is not yet the 100 million dollar player we thought we had signed but he is a good player with promising signs and not the flop Rory desperately wants him to be because of the things he has said about him in the past.

Upfront chelsea will have Palmer, Noni, Estavao, Jackson, Nkunku, Mudryk, Sterling, Kendry, Angelo, Moreira, Dujuan Richards, Tyrique George, Olise (possibly), and chelsea is looking to buy a striker.
