you need one for all the great managers
Mourinho ✅
Guardiola
Ferguson
Wenger
Klopp
Ferguson and Wenger episodes would be 48 hours long 😭
@@lse9622 Could split it into two eras with two different guests
@@lse9622 Too be fair, the list of greats Wenger didn`t sign would be an even longer list🤣
Already done klopp
He's already done Klopp no? Right after he announced he was leaving I think
Getting Flav to review every Spurs signing under Daniel Levy would be fucking hilarious.
There are some absolute gems.
- By gems, I don’t mean in quality
Do it
Or Redknapp signings would be awesome
@@fricozoid1 Yeah but it misses out the hilarious Nkoudou, N’Jie and Fernandes era
@@Avoki0 I completely forgot about N'Jie. I swear Spurs' scouting network was just sweaty fifa players
Cheers for having me on mate
“If big Pete’s happy then I’m happy” is from the CL documentary “Kings of Europe”, the context is Cech in the 2008 final wasn’t happy from day one when we got to Russia cause everything was read but when we got to Germany for the 2012 final everything was blue so he felt really good about us winning it.
tory
I love Rory Jennings man, he said at 13:58 that John Terry was baffled and looked out of his depth up against Falcao in the 2012 Super Cup. Only problem is that Chelsea played David Luiz and Gary Cahill that day, Terry wasn't even in the squad.
😂😂😂
That's why he looked baffled, he looked baffled Bec he wasn't part of the squad.
Terry was in the stands in his full kit thinking he'd come on to lift the trophy, easy mistake for Rory to make
Ripple. My sister and I cost my dad a Premier League title.
The year is 2003 and Leeds United are selling Nigel Martyn due to their financial issues with Martyn’s wages being higher than Paul Robinson’s at the time. There are two clubs going in for him, Everton (who he subsequently goes to) and Chelsea. Both clubs were offering a second choice keeper role behind Wright and Cudicini. Myself being 10 at the time, I remember vividly my dad, being the great father he is, asking me how I’d feel if I had to move away down to London. I wasn’t that enthusiastic of the idea as I had my friends up in Leeds and was settled at a school I really enjoyed. My sister was also in the same situation. This meant that my dad chose to sign for Everton and drive across to Liverpool from Leeds every morning for training. Unfortunately for Richard Wright, he got injured a few games into the season and Nige was called up, performed incredibly and then kept the number 1 spot for the subsequent 3 years. Also making some extremely important saves and clean sheets that actually kept Everton from being relegated that season and Leeds went down after Nige left. (So one could say, if one were so inclined, that I helped keep Everton up that year? 😉)
Nige was also instrumental in helping Everton finish 4th (Everton’s highest Premier League finish) in his second season. David Moyes then goes on to say that Nigel Martyn is his best ever signing.
However if Nige had gone to Chelsea, they wouldn’t have needed to buy Petr Cech (so where does Cech end up then?) and he would’ve been in the Mourinho team that won the league with 15 goals conceded and I feel he could have pushed for the first choice spot from Cudicini like he did against Wright at Everton.
So in conclusion, I’m tangentially (kinda) responsible for keeping Everton in the Premier League, costing my father a Premier League title and Petr Cech going to Chelsea. 😂
Only Forwards 🐌
that is incredible story. your dad was a legend, world class keeper.
Everton stayed up and Leeds went down? You literally relegated Leeds United.
@@alexedwards9152 Haha not quite, Leeds decided to sell Nige, not me ha if anything it’s Leeds’s fault as Nige kept Everton up from his performances and Leeds didn’t have him to do that unfortunately for them ha I was just involved in Nige deciding Everton over Chelsea 😊
the ultimate question if whether or not youre still in touch with those mates you stayed in Leeds for
@@froodlenoodle I actually genuinely am as it turns out, we’re all going to each other’s weddings and meet up regularly 😊
Robben, Kalou, Bhoulahrouz, Schwarzer, Matic, Cuardrado some of the bigger namea missed out, Van Ginkel, Amelia, Atsu, some of the lesser. Ivanovic was signed by Grant. Miazga was signed whilst Hiddink was manager also. Otherwise great episode!
Did Cuadrado get enough of a chance? He's clearly very talented and has a good work rate.
Salah was missed too. Surely he was a Mourinho signing.
Rory when he’s not speaking with pure agenda is genuinely one of the best people to listen to on RUclips when it comes to football
He has a great footballing memory. He has some bad takes but Rory is honestly fantastic when it comes to historic ball knowledge and chat.
Yeah but all the click baiting and childish playground shit with that mong chop Buvey takes any credibility away from him.
Which is why I get confused whether he is genuinely an idiot or simply shit posting for clicks
fr man
Fantastic podcast, I don’t know what it is but something about you gets the best out of Rory.
Most likely because when Rory is surrounded by people who actually have footballing knowledge it manifests itself in him
JLA is genuinely brilliant
@@technodiscofool it’s a sign of a great host
@@robertdenton3617 James is fantastic, truly the voice of reason and intellect when it comes to football influencers!
@@technodiscofool Rory does know ball, it shows in any longer talk-type format. That‘s not to take away from James‘ hosting abilities, but especially since the Haaland incident Rory has realized that unhinged takes generate attention, which shows in his content.
Petr Cech 5th is criminal
Cech wasn’t even a Jose signing, Claudio signed him.
But 100% agree, Once I saw Cech on the list I was shocked, I thought perhaps Cech would be fighting for number 1 spot. I guess being a Goalkeeper means you don’t get the praise you deserve
You and Rory are quality together. Need more content of both of you
No mention of the fact that it was down to José's unwillingness to coach and train Salah and De Bruyne that Chelsea missed out on arguably two of the greatest players the Prem has ever seen.
And selling Lukaku after he got about 30 PL goals in the last 2 seasons for West Brom and Everton
I love these tier lists - I’d love to see them for the teams that finish lower down in the Prem!
The real story about “if big Pete’s happy, I’m happy” is from a documentary about the 2012 CL final. Cech was saying that in Moscow 2008 everything was red, the tickets, banners matchday programme etc and he didn’t like it. But in Munich, everything was blue. So Cech was happy. And that’s when JT said it gave everyone an air of confidence as in “if big Pete’s happy, I’m happy”
I may not like rory’s a bit more over the top or dramatic videos he and the rest of the club lads do but I could listen to him talk for hours about random chelsea memories he has from 20 years ago
loving the return of the tier lists!
please do a Wenger or a Sir Alex one
Please do a Wenger one
But that means they'd have to get Robbie on. As far as RUclips channels, Arsenal are way over-represented and many people get sick of hearing about Arsenal.
I think where Rory has Willian and Pedro is super valid. As a fan now in my mid 20s, those two were excellent while they were here. Especially Willian in that 15/16 season. Was the only player to turn up each and every match
Forgot Kalou , Robben and Matic!
Rory knowledge is crazy at times pulling out Tiago scoring at Palace away where Drogba got his first Chelsea goal
Rory is so right about Drogba changing the way football was played. Only needed the one striker. Allowed you to play an extra central midfielder to over run the 442 while still maintaining the 2 wingers feeding off the bigman
Branislav Ivanovic wasn't signed under Mourinho. Mourinho left in Sep 2007, Chelsea signed Ivanovic in Jan 2008.
Ivanovic was signed by Avram Grant and didn't make his debut until Scolari came in.
Cech was signed by Ranieri.
Moses wasn’t signed by Mourinho either I don’t think. Just remember him going on loan to Liverpool in Mourinho’s first season back.
@Ahenny97 hadn't even clocked he said Moses, who was signed by Di Matteo
Love these style videos they are great! Think you two are great content together with different styles of content but come together well! Was very surprised to see Costa/Fab ahead of Cech!
How the hell are fabregas and costa being rated ahead of petr cech and michael essien. Im sorry but that's just mental.
The Ramsdale point is good for Petr Cech, but also totally ignores the fact that keepers start with a much higher position now so they can sweep easier. It's not a matter of bad positioning from Ramsdale as such - though I don't argue Cech is much better at that in general - it's stylistic changes in football.
Saying that, do you see Alisson being caught out like that? I can't.
I think Schurrle just couldn't get regular game time, was great in that German Win at the world cup assisting the winner
that ending sentence 🤣🥲
This was such a brilliant listen!!!
James plus Rory works well.
Liked this video for the Kai comment about André Schürrle 😂. Maybe he should chip in every now & then?
That Liverpool game we played Essien and Ferreira at CB cause we had nobody else
I think it's easy to compare Cesc and Van Persie and their legacy at Arsenal but they feel very different in my mind. Cesc went home to Barca first of all, he gave everything to Arsenal (I'll always remember him scoring a penatly for us in the champions league with a fully broken foot), captained us through a miserable period, and I feel more sad than anything that we didn't do more to keep him. He also never has a bad thing to say about Arsenal to this day. Wenger rescued Van Persie's career and stood by him while he was injured perpetually, he then had two hot seasons at Arsenal, then immediately left to United, then started showed up on TV badmouthing his old club. Very different legacies in my mind.
40:36, Obi Mikel would be in contention for Chelsea all time best 11?!
Makelele and Kante are obviously ahead of him in that position, he has no chance of breaking that team.
I remember all of these players except I have no memory of Tiago. Can’t remember who he is or him even playing for Chelsea.
Looking at what he achieved in his career he seems to be another young player that Mourinho was crazy to let go along with the obvious Salah, De Bruyne, Lukaku
(nor do I remember Papy but that isn’t surprising)
Terry wasn't in the squad against Atletico that day. Rory literally reminiscing over things that didn't happen.
It’s like his misremembering of Pfeirrera and Essien playing so Mourinho could make a point. It’s like no we had injuries to all our CBs which is why they played,
I used to meassure how good a player was by whether he would score against Cech from a longe range. I still remember Iniesta UCL goal against him from outside the box and saying damn! not even Cech could save that.
Ivanovic was not part of the early Mourinho teams and wasn't even signed by him. Certainly didn't play with Gallas either. It's easy to get foggy memory but Rory praised Paulo Ferreira (the actual RB) minutes before. A lot of people make the same mistake with Ashley Cole who didn't arrive until the season Jose was sacked.
“The answer is a resounding Ja’ 🤣🤣
"The answer is a resounding Ja" 😂😂😂
37:05 the portuguese gary neville 😂
Ashley Cole on par with Paolo Maldini?! You'll only hear something like this from the English haha. Mental.
he said he's better than Carlos and Marcelo as well lmaoo
@@deekayy3222as a defending LB he actually is. As an LB, he is arguably the best that has ever lived. Maldini was a CB, even when he played as a LB, he was a CB playing LB.
@@garymaidman625 Maldini played more as a lb and he was miiiles clear of "Cole". English fans should stop overrating their players.
@@deekayy3222 first, if you actually read what I said, you would have picked up that what I said was Maldini was a CB and even when he played LB, he was a CB playing LB. His best position was CB. One of the greatest CB partnerships of all time was Baresi and Maldini. Second, you assume I'm an English fan. That's on you.
@@garymaidman625 so he played as a leftback? ur points are stupid, ur just trynna push an English agenda, piss right off
Mikel was good but not legendary, however Mikel had the game of his life at that CL final. The rest of his time at Chelsea was hit and miss.
Willian and Pedro were unbelievable footballers. Definitely not too high on the list. Make Havertz, Pulisic, Ziyech, Werner look like Sunday league footballers.
Follow up podcast with Rory ranking Chelsea football songs.
Crazy to put Diego Costa that high
A bunch of these werent signed by Mourinho. Ivanovic was signed under Avram Grant for example.
Salamon Kalou - 254 appearances and 60 goals as a “second” striker or left winger over 6 seasons with great minutes-per-goal stats. Surely he should’ve been well inside Rory’s Top 20?
7.52 samism!!!
Is that the horse to die on
Love the pod, however Cech wasn’t the most expensive GK of the time. Infact was about £40 million less then Buffon. However if you meant EPL fair enough
Cech was Raneri signing (though didn’t get to play for him) you’d think a Chelsea man would know/acknowledge it 😅
Ivanovic is a Chelsea legend but wasn’t a Mourinho signing. Signed in January 2008 under Avram Grant.
51:07 Ivanoivc and Gallas never played together? Or am I missing what Rory is saying?
100% about Ivana, deffo a legend! So clutch and a pure tank
Was hoping this would be like a mini series, would like to see Arsenal signings under Arteta next.
Good video, although why has rory tried to list Joses signing from memory. It shouldnt be hard with a bit of googling to get the list completely correct
I remember Zouma in the cup final against spurs. Kept Eriksen quiet
Mikel signing for Chelsea did not have a damaging impact on United. We signed Michael Carrick, and won the lot.
Drogba admitting to diving in a post-match interview, also changed the Premier League
Some (many?) Of Rorys takes are questionable. But ehat can't be questioned is his Chelsea knowledge and he has seen it all
He knows very little about football outside of Chelsea, but I’ve always been impressed with his near-encyclopedic Chelsea knowledge. Clearly, he’s a very dedicated fan.
He named Ivanovic and Moses, neither of whom are Mourinho signings, so I think his knowledge can be questioned
Watched every minute. Loved this vid!
I loved Pedro… him & Deco are cult heroes for me X
You should do every Wenger signing ranked with Alex (amonfootball)
Rory is basically the Drogba of confident double talk with a pinch of edgy nonsense banter for the short clips
His issue is acting like he watches anything but the top 6 and he barely watches more than that
@@LordSeth-hf8ew most of the time he says things just to create a narrative anyway
Let’s go great guest!
Don’t know any Chelsea fan that doesn’t like Willian. You forgot he has a great song to Rory.
I know we shouldn't judge by social media, but online fans slandered him. Kind of the same with Marcos Alonso, match going fans loved him social media fans didn't.
@@parmaman8551 Marcos Alonso isn't a good example, he was mostly hated because of off the pitch stuff.
"Marcos Alonso runs down the wing for me"@@areebsiddiqui758
@@parmaman8551 mate have you seen half the people commenting on instagram and Twitter? Most of them are bots or a lot of them are from like Africa and Asia who probably don’t event watch half the matches. I don’t even read that shit anymore no one has anything decent to say 😂
@@areebsiddiqui758 he wasn’t a very good defender either tbf. Don’t get me wrong was great going forward brilliant every time against spurs 😂. But he had a few howlers in him defensively
18:54 old man celebration was against Arsenal in the 6-0 no??
No
This was an amazing show ❤
Surprised that James thinks Ronaldinho played in the Eredivisie
Don’t get the hate Rory gets. He has serious football recollection and speaks like a true fan.
Hazard one side, Salah on the other, with KDB behind the two.. oh lord what a miss
You’ve put cech in when Ranieri had already signed him
Did you actually call Remy a “hybrid of Henry and Anelka” WHAT 🤣🤣
Tel ben haim what a throwback 😭
58:28 £7m in 2004 was the highest price for GK!? We're not counting £52m for Buffon in 2001 then? 😅
Need Howson to do Fergies signings next
18:16 what the hell is that Monsters inc ass music
“Just finished a podcast with the BEAUTIFUL Rory Jennings” WTF
Matic, Robben?
Where is Khalid Boulardouz or something...The guy who wore the number 9 as a defender...haha
Kennedy was pretty good for Newcastle at times
Where's. Fabregas?
Forgot Cuadrado

rory is a great storyteller
Man Chelsea were sooo good back in the day! Not WAY back...just like "back in the day" a few years ago.
The only question I have is.. James where’s your top from
Cahart
I mean I love JLA usually but his continual love in with probably the second worst pundit after Gabby A is a mystery.
Rory ranting about football twitter accounts to the absolute face of football twitter dweebs 🤣
Comparing Belleti to Zabaleta 🤣 Zaba one of the best right backs the premier league has seen
Cole is one of the best left backs of all time, but he is below Maldini, Carlos, and Marcelo.
Absolutely debatable as to whether he is below Marcelo.
I'm here to listen to Rory wax poetic
Jose is still the BEST!!! He hasn't lost it yet, nor will he ever like Ferguson!!!
Wenger with Clive!
Love this vid
No maniche?
Matic?
I'm an arsenal fan fibreglass will always be my favourite player in the Premier league
Willian is too low - WHAT A PLAYER
Was Ramires not a Mourinho signing? Kalou?
This guy said Ashley Cole was a better left back than Paolo Maldini… cluelesss
Absolute clown.
