Probably made one of THE wisest of choices in getting one of these. I bought both an SR300 PW and then a red 5string in 2013 & '14. I struggled with them both...I had an issue resting my thumb on the pickups with the white 4string & was never comfortable, but I was too fond of my Warwick RB to adapt. I got the red SR305 5-string on a whim and rushed into it... Since then, after a long break this is where things changed.... In 2021, I was on the hunt for a backup bass to my Warwick & after something similar. By luck, someone 30miles away was selling an SR300E pearl black fade metallic finish second hand. The seller said it was sold, then contacted me to say it was available again, I went to look. He said it was missing a 9v battery, I brought one with me and I couldn't believe it. The lad sold it to me for £95!! He worked on the assumption no battery had rendered it unplayable! Honestly this bass from 2017 is the same as the SR300EB & the "B" only means that the controls/machine heads/bridge are black. The sound is clean, crisp and for you guys using pics, you will get a great crunchy rasp with those double coil pickups. I am tempted to trade in a Squier 5string and Ibanez Ergodyne EDB500 that I have for a new one in Candyapple Red. Stunning basses, lightweight, simple & best thing Ive played, perhaps even more than my budget Warwick
Thanks for watching Andrew. Great insights here. I still love it more and more but need to practice more too 😂. Yes it was super cheap, glad everything works fine 🤘😎 all the best! Also. Pinned your comment as it's super interesting 😁
I have the same bass/model. Purchased new. No issues. The guys where I bought it test drive all their guitars and send any back that present any issues. I love it. It is a great bass and sounds awesome. Good for anyone starting out and has a few options for those trying to find their sound. I play it every day.
That seems like a good customer service to me 😊 sure. It’s awesome. Still no problems after 3 years I guess 😁 my slow learning though is the only obstacle 😂🤘😎 enjoy!
@Busiless yeagh, the guys were great knowing I never played a string instrument. 30 years on trumpet and about 20 on many other brass instruments. Started with the trumpet in 6th grade. So they were keen on setting me up. Went through various amps with me and what they could and could not do and what I needed at the moment I ended up getting the Katana Boss 110. Also, great! There are no issues with that either, I can do so much with that amp it's insane. Don't believe the crap talkers on the tube yapnon about. Seems to like something and it's not a $1,000.00 or more people talk down about them. This Boss 110 amp is great. Practice, studio and small gig all in one. Example, the Wife went and bought a Sccy 9mm hand gun. $300.00 and many crap on it because it is not a 6 or $700.00 hand gun and even Hancock 45 here on the tube loves the gun and says it is a great gun to get. The man behind its creation was a Glock engineer and said people should not have to dish out that kind of money for a quality fire arm so he created Sccy and made them from the same materials as the ARs are made from and offered them at the $300.00 mark. It's like people been molded if it does not cost a grand, it's junk. And that's just not true anymore with the technology today. Both Katana and Ibanez put out quality items. The $200.00 guitars and under may have issues, but it is best to get them at a music store rather than online where you can speak to someone face to face and any such issues can be addressed. Not everyone can afford all at once a $1,200.00 or more guitar off the back and another grand for a amp. Don't pay any mind to people with that mentality as they are often being proven wrong by those who know. As they say about opinions, everyone has one and not all hold weight.
Yes sure. Glen from Spectre sound studios mentioned in one of the videos that it doesn't matter what's written on the headstock. Harley Benton releases some quality guitars around $300. The video was actually about recording guitars into DAW at home, so plenty resources. Look for it, if you won't find it, I'll send a link ;)
THE IBANEZ SR-300E IS WHAT I ORDERED IN PINK GOLD METALLIC. IT WILL BE HERE SHIPPED TO ME. ON TOMORROW. THIS BASD IS AWESOME. THE SR-300 E. KICKS. ASS!!!!
This is the bass my music academy has. The bridge pickup sounds lovely when using a pick, and the neck one is so good for jazz... I love this one and I hope I can get my hands on one for my own soon :)
Thanks for watching. Yes it's super versatile and sounds lovely. For the records, I have the bass over 2 years now and I haven't tried to play with a pick yet. I guess that's Davie504's fault 😅😂Good luck 🤘😎
I got this one a couple months ago, and it was great. I had to adjust the saddle in the bridge to reduce the fret buzz, and I just bought a set of 130 gauge strings to tune low. I have seen some videos speaking negatively about this bass, but I feel it's probably the best bass under $400, and up there for under $500.
What an interesting tie-in, my first base was an Ibanez Roadstar II Bass Series(Black with white guard) PJ setup, and I quit playing some time ago but starting back I am looking at grabbing a SR300e. I still have it but its de-fretted and unstringed at the moment.
Hi A Maggot 👍 thanks for watching. You mean defretted to become a fully grown fretless bass? 😎 Cool. Yes my Ibanez still rocks sweet. Trying to practise more as the summer is very busy ☺️. All the best! 🤘😎
Very nice video production/photography. Mine is coming in a few days, so I'm ready for my third attempt at learning bass. Good luck with your journey with the new instrument.
Hi Steve. Sure you can do it :). There's a lot of online courses and tutorials or learning apps so it is easier than ever! Keep me updated on your progress and how is your Bass! We can do some collaboration in the future ;) Cheers!
Hi. I got a Thomann bass gig bag with it and it just works. I don’t travel with it too often so it’s ok. But I wouldn’t know what case would work with it unfortunately. 🤘😎
Nice unboxing! How much does this bass weigh? I'd love to know because I'm looking for a lightweight bass! Cort has the modern line but I don't like the design...this matte black would be perfect :)
Was the action of strings setted up already when you bought it? Cuz it looks perfectly settled( not too high) did u asked for it or it was just preset?
Hi. Sorry for the late reply. No, there's no cable or any accessories. Usually you have to buy it yourself and there's plenty of choice. Make sure you don't buy a cheapest one, you don't want to break the plug inside your guitar ;)
Hello there! I just want to be sure is this bass guitar a active or a passive bass because i want to buy a passive bass and not have to worry about batteries.
Hi. It's an active bass. But it lasted a year on a battery. Although I didn't play that much unfortunately. The most important thing is to unplug it after playing because if you leave the plug in, it keeps the electronics powered and drains the battery. I guess if you play a lot it should last 3-4 months. All the best 🤘😎
Hi Ugryzh, thanks for watching. The sound was a synth but I can think of maybe a Woolly Mammoth from Zvex. It is different for sure but have a listen somewhere on RUclips, you might like it. It can be bit pricey but I've seen some alternatives online. 🤘😎
I want to get the Cerulean model when it is available at Sweetwater since I'm too worried about running into the issues so many people have with this bass buying it elsewhere. Being 300 bucks it will at least get a "55-point" inspection whereas reverb might leave it at your door in whatever state it was in when they had it...I wonder if the cerulean one is going to brand new or if it's still the flawed instrument people have previously complained about.
Ah yes, See and test the instrument if possible. This was in the full lockdown so I didn't have a chance to put my hands on one before buying. The cerulean looks awesome! What did people complain about?
@@Busiless I have seen one youtube video regarding the CUB variant and his had pickup issues, that is, it would buzz horribly when playing an open string. I didn't watch the whole video but there was nothing in the description regarding where he bought it. I don't think it really boils down to whichever color you get.. it's just that out of the box people have found loose saddles or tunning machines. bridge quality in general was what most complained about, but they probably bought a fluke. Unlike my Squier Jazz these SRs are made to actaully last and not just sound great for a while before warping beyond repair. What really stood out to me was the wether resistant 5 piece neck this model supposedly has, and having been through the nightmare of a faulty truss rod I look forward to my next instrument.
I guess that when you rush manufacturing then this can happen. The buzzing is probably some grounding issues. I did that by accident while modifying my electric guitar. I have inserted a Fuzz Factory inside and I cut a cable that linked ground (minus or mass) to the bridge and had to attach a cable from the outside. Barely visible but luckily no humming. Good luck on your new instrument!!!
@@Busiless I meant to ask how legit the weather resistance is. I don't have a studio to keep the humidity between 45% and 50% and my bedroom happens to be a closet room away from the attic, which means a ton of temperature accumulation goes on in my room. Over the weekend it felt incredibly musty in my room, so I opened my closet and surely enough it was sweaty humid in there. I'm hoping that I can leave this bass on a stand, detuned and not have to worry about the elements warping it to death. I know I'm better off with humidifiers and a case, but I wouldn't immediately have the money to get both after Sweetwater charges me for the ibanez.
hi Jake. Well I wouldn't worry about that too much. This is not a $10k Bass that needs some ideal environment to last and play perfect for years ;). I have an electric guitar for 15+ years and it has been kept in various conditions, hot-cold, dry-humid and no problems to it at all. What I recently started doing as my room isn't always perfect for storing instruments is that I have bought some of the Silica-Gel sachets (that are being used in shoe boxes and other humidity-fragile goods) and thrown 2 or 3 in pockets of each guitar bag. You can buy these cheap on amazon or ali-express. If you want to at least have some control then you can buy some cheap humidity-meters online as well and keep them in the bass-bag ;). But as I said, don't stress too much unless the conditions are extreme your bass will be just fine :)
i have a soldering iron so if i need to fix anything it shouldn't be too much trouble, spent like all the extra spending money i had on the bass so i can't really afford anything extra 😅
Hi. That is a guitar amp I already had. I guess you mean the cord. The Amp came with the power cable but there was no guitar cable with the amp or the bass. 🤘😎
Hi theoldbaldINsorrow. Thanks for watching. You're absolutely right, but that was the only thing I could plug in and test my Bass on back then. I'm keeping it quiet though so no damage will happen. I actually made a vid about that topic ;) ruclips.net/video/EKZMYzKcpog/видео.html

I have the 5 string version and I really love it. I had a Roadstar Series back in the 80's and it is as comfortable as that one was.

Спасибо 😎 thanks 😉 it's working well so far I'm very happy with the purchase ⚡⚡⚡
These have a massive sustain.
Oh yes - I love it, comfortable, sounds great, only I'm limiting the instrument with my lack of skills 😂🤘😎
When i finally get a full size this is the one i want, looks cool as shit, lets see how it sounds
I use a normal guitar amp for my bass, cool😃
Sounds really nice. Great Bass 🤘😎
Question - What case would you recommend for this bass? Size wise.
