Thank you so much for posting this video. I just came home from the dealer. They wanted to charge me $600.00 . They told me they needed to take out the seats to figure out what the leak was coming from. I told them to forget it. Came home watch your video and did as you told and all the water came out. $0.00. I actually was having the same problem went to the dealer where I got the car from, hilariously they wanted to ask for specialist wanted to give me the big IDK we will have to take the car apart to check it out, had the convertible top down at the time, so when I slammed my hand on top of the convertible roof bay area, from the fit of rage I had for the BS they were giving (not abusive to cars, I love my mustang) all the water came pouring out in that very instant lol, mechanic and the GM of the service area looked at me and I looked at them. The mustang cars that we drive especially the S197 models, aside from the german MAHchSTANG S550 were designed to be garaged cars, not street cars, so over time, the holes get clogged from between the seems. just unclog drainage holes. Thats why when I hit the rear fender of my car, real rough, it got all happy and wet and gushed out. It was a good day.

This was a wonderful video. I have a 2013 red convertible. I had lots of water sloshing in the rr quarter panel. My local Ford dealers wanted $1,500 to replace the "seal." I followed your advice: got a 4 foot long 3/4inch dowel and taped a very long 1/4 inch drill bit to it with 2 pieces of duct tape to keep it stable. I lowered it through the convertiblee top access point and poked through the "plastic" stuff/soft stuff and the water immediately began to drain. I did this on both sides although the passenger side had about 1+ gallons it it. You win. We win. Dealer: 0.

I just used this trick on my car and it worked. Make sure you roll up the rear window before doing this or you will break the window. My passenger side has a drain hole so I think the factory forgot to put a drain hole on the driver side.

Thank you again. Adding to my comment from 2 months ago. Every time it rained heavy, I had to repeat the process. Could not find any way to remove the foam body strip. So I taped an awl to the rod and spent several minutes pushing it into the foam along it's full length. It seemed to penetrate more, closer to the wheel well. Now the water no longer accumulates. Update: This worked well for a while. Must be a lot of dirt in the body cavity.

I just got a 2004 get vert. Was getting the wet floor first on the back passenger side then driver side. You see a lot of people talking about sealing holes nd shit like that. Find the drain plugs in front of the rear tires and get a hanger and get it up the holes 6 to 8 inches. You will hear it rattle around in the quarter panel. Then you know you in there good. Water can rush out a ton or just a little. I have not had the issues again with some serious down pours recently in ct. do that and you will be good

This video was helpful but I had to keep repeating the process after every heavy rain. Could not find any way to keep the foam strip open or remove it. So I jacked up the car, removed the wheel and the nuts holding the sound deadening material in place and pushed that aside. Then I drilled a couple of 1/4 inch holes into the panel about eye level to where the top of the rocker panel would be. Got lucky. After 8 inches of rain from Ida, no water in the panel.

Same thing for my 2014. In May 2019, I had water in the 1/4 panel-I had it fixed, it was about $800! Insurance paid for new power switches to rear windows, cause they had shorted out. The tech drilled some holes for better drainage. But now in Jan 2020 that back floor carpet is soaked again. Why does this happen? Is it just a design flaw and how can I prevent this? The tech drilled more holes for better drainage, but that doesn't really FIX the cause. Can you suggest a better fix? The cabin is growing mildew now. I can't keep it dry. Don't have a garage, it has to be parked on the street. I'd really appreciate any help.

I noticed the fabric was tucked in wards in the car and allowed water to run into the trunk and eventually the seats.
