In 1996, just before it was demolished, Burnley FC openned their door to allow supporters to go on the famous Longside one last time, this is my video of that day
In the late 1980's my team (Carlisle united) had a program interview with players, generally when asked 'What's the best ground you've played at?' they'd answer with Turf Moor. At the same time whilst every other 4th division team had an attendence of 2000 odd, Burnley stood out on Ceefax with his attendence of 10,000 odd! A visit to Turf moor was always 'intereting' and but felt sad, it seemed a shame that Burnley were languishing in the 4th tier. We were rivals but i'm so pleased that good times have returned. If there was ever a fan base that deserved success it's Burnley. Thanks for the memories.
Thanks for putting this on, brought back some great memories of standing there with my dad from the age of 6 to 18 yrs of age very emotional , thank you.
nice one mate. thanks for posting. brings out loads memories from my childhood, standing in the sideways rain on the bee hole, hoping they would open the barriers so we could enjoy the 'luxury' of the longside roof! Up the clarets
Thanks for this footage. It takes me back years. I traveled over Greenhow hill to Skipton, Coln, Nelson then to turf moor from Ndderdale in the North yorkshire dales.
Can't beat the old terraces, as a seasider, this is one of the best ive stood on for atmosphere, early 90's night match record attendance for the division at the time, 21,000 i think? Blackpool filled it.
