3 years ago, I did the same experiment with very interesting results. I used half-wave rectifier circuit to convert the energy from AC to DC, and it lights up the LED pretty brightly! All of these components were taken from the electronic waste. The project is capable of powering low-power devices such as sensors.

Circuit is just simple, use germanium diode (rectenna). Rectenna converts RF energy into DC

Or you can just use 1n60 crystal diodes (low drop) in series or full bridge to harvest energy from even weaker RF signals

Great area of research. Keep up the good work and upscale it please. For example, large units in highway offramps to assist vehicles in slowing by extracting energy would be one way to add to the powergrid. H

Add to the powergrid? I laughed it! They are for generating really less power and used generally in lightning, sensors, actuators and so on. You can search on it.

I did the same experiment and able to generate around 8 to 12 volt. But the current is only within the micro amps. I hope to be able to try some new and better performance piezo material.

I believe they will be important to the field of electrostatics. We need to bring research back to it since it was relagated to class room demonstrations.

Long trail backpackers need a way to generate about 12 watts of electricity per day to keep their cell phones and headlamps running. Many carry almost 1/2 KG batteries to make this happen and recharge whenever they are in towns. What they need is a lightweight way to get their "juice" while hiking. A pair of insoles in their hiking shoes might be able to generate that electricity and reduce their load of gear. What do you think?

that hit the market about 10years ago. theres even a nightclub that powers the music system using piezo floor panels.
we should be embedding crystals in roadways etc and everywhere with movement involved. it would lower the energy need considerably.

After almost 7 yrs of time how is everything?
Did this accomplish the desired task?
What uses are these used for at Nasa?
Was this a net loss or net gain?
    Are these commercially available?
    Can I get a sample?
    Can I buy a sample?
    Have you improved these?
Can you do an update video?

the earth vibrates..... earth to quartz to dual capacitor that makes an arc flash that ionizes the air and tricks the trapped sun rays in the ionosphere into more piezoelectric on the 2nd coil with conductive top...

  • @rcarver4049

A little misleading. Much like electromagnetic waves, a higher frequency vibration inherently contains more energy, therefore more energy is transferred to the device.

NASA if we produced such devices which use centrifugal energy for charging our cellphone then it becomes a boon
We can use our mussel power 🔋 for charging many gadgets

nasa awarded a fisherman 50,000 for his bioluminescent battery as part of their inovations awards (essentially an AA battery made with a coil of bioluminescent material and solar type films.) he got the idea watching the ocean glow while wishing for a better power source for his net lights. that was decades ago. nasa as part of the award kept the rights to the tech and we never saw it reach the markets. there has also been several ultra high efficiency solar panels created like the chinese guy who grew crystaline trees in a film that captured >99% of light frequencies. the tech is out there but were still slaves to the fossil fuel industry. dont expect nasa to help us save the planet :[

I am now questioning everything I ever imagined about NASA...This is about as scientific as a game of Rolette. How can a supposed Scientist overlook the factor of Mass in these equations and results? Of Corse its gonna make more energy as it Now TAKES more energy to generate the needed force.. I seriously hope the rest of NASA isnt feeling there way through science like this.

The energy harvester would use ambient vibrations such as from sound or from stuff like vibrations from a motor or friction- the energy is already there we just need to harvest it
