His voice is so powerful and beautiful AT THE SAME TIME! I also love his rendition of this song. You can feel the emotion of the song in his voice. I also get goosebumps hearing him sing this. Bravo, Mr. Crawford!!!
Thank you so much for posting this! It's the only video I've been able to find where Michael sings this song. It's absolutely beautiful!!! :-) Thanks again.
This is just my opinion, but I ike this Gethsemane performance better than the PBS concert from 1998!!! I have NEVER seen Mike so into this song!! And that note in the middle, and note at the end---surpasses phenominal!
gotta love that long note. Pipes man....Pipes. And by the way, he's working...but he's on broadway. Google his name. Lots of shows. He jsut finished a run as the Wizard in the Wizard of Oz
Michael is the most phenominal man in the universe!! I definately agree on The Angel Of Music Comment. He sings like heavenly spirit. And Mike has a heart of pure gold....literaly. Michael has to be the nicest man in the universe.
EXCELLENT!! I would have enjoyed seeing him in person. I think it is pretty cool to watch @ 5:31 his breathing control, I would be face first on the floor.
@colinmcphan Desperatly agree with ya colinmcphan!!!! I have worn out all the CD's and have exhausted each and every song. And I have watched the PBS concert too many times- I have literaly gotten sick of it!! Not in abd way--I can watch the concert in my head I mean!! If Mike came to perforem in Syracuse, I would pay $200 for tickets in the front row! I need my Michael fix badly.....I wish he had another PBS concert and a new CD!
MrAlessandro Fiorentin It's not a smile, it's a melancholy expression, as if to say, "I once was happy, I remember those times, why can't now be like those times.
A far from shabby performance. However, I've never this song sung better that the performance given by Michael Ball during the 50th birthday concert for ALW at the RAH in London. That one really did make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.
You do realize it's from a musical and he's only performing it, right? Just like Hamilton is a great musical, but you don't see anyone going around claiming that it's verbatim historical fact. Geez. 🙄
Fabulous as per usual 😊❤❤❤❤

Growing up, I used to sing along to Crawford's rendition of this song all the time. It gives me goose bumps. Thanks for posting the live performance.

A Master's class on singing and performing. Pure brilliance.

Sent shivers down my spine, especially when he held those notes! I am speechless. I feel like crying every single time I hear this, it's marvelous.
"Would anybody else out there like to see this "Angel of music" and blessing from heaven back in the limelight?"
Yes, oh yesssss!
Yes, thank you! I found this song on my iTunes today and was blown away! Michael Crawford is beyond talented; his voice comes from Heaven no doubt.
Utterly beautiful and powerful, I'm really love his voice. The BEST SINGER of all times.
7:10-7:26 is one breath! No many people can do that...
I like how excited he got at 7:27 :)
Mil A What about 5:07--5:28? That was also one breath! Oh, Michael and his long notes. ❤️
Oh my go,this man is fabulous, as always!
Simply stunning!
gotta love that long note. Pipes man....Pipes. And by the way, he's working...but he's on broadway. Google his name. Lots of shows. He jsut finished a run as the Wizard in the Wizard of Oz
This song is gorgeous and Michael definitely sings this song better than anyone else. I just love his voice better than anyone else who sings this.
Remember Michael as the young lover in the film of "Hello Dolly"? I loved him now, and love him today.
Michael is the most phenominal man in the universe!! I definately agree on The Angel Of Music Comment. He sings like heavenly spirit.
And Mike has a heart of pure gold....literaly.
Michael has to be the nicest man in the universe.
Oh this takes me back. Michael, I remember your tour when this number ended the 1st act. 'Carrot Cake' says:
Get back to work!
EXCELLENT!! I would have enjoyed seeing him in person. I think it is pretty cool to watch @ 5:31 his breathing control, I would be face first on the floor.
@punkstoper
And the angel of kindness and compassion!!
Yep he's still my fave Phantom ;)
This was the longest introduction I have ever heard.
No wonder he is known as the Angel of Music
Ooooh Betty!
I'm speechless! This performance was amazing! :D
Who says you need all the crazy high notes to nail it? :)
@colinmcphan
Desperatly agree with ya colinmcphan!!!!

How can I've never seen this before?! :O
Okay wow... just wow
Wow!!!
he's sad and tired but stil with the smile on his face!!! ridiculous
MrAlessandro Fiorentin It's not a smile, it's a melancholy expression, as if to say, "I once was happy, I remember those times, why can't now be like those times.
His hands.
наш призрак превратился в Иисуса. да! такой голос от природы
He's older than time and want to act like a 33 yr old... great! xDDD
Great voice at all.
A far from shabby performance.

I wish 🤞🏼 the woman who talked about gesthemane would have talked in English 3:45
Omg
wow. da long note. kl
When was this performed?
@frooglyhunk bold statement
ダイアナ妃!
The woman who talked about Michael Crawford should have learned English 3:16
The Phantom singing Jesus? ... Just doesn't work for me...
TheColonelsKitchen The Phantom as Jesus works. This isn't a performance as Jesus, it's just a performance of the song.
Great singer BUT..............the song is based on a fantasy. If you want sing about Gethsemane, go to the Bible and find out the truth.
You do realize it's from a musical and he's only performing it, right? Just like Hamilton is a great musical, but you don't see anyone going around claiming that it's verbatim historical fact. Geez. 🙄
