Very interesting that I made this comment and then about a year ago found out Mark Fisher wrote about this exact phenomena of lost futures and how jungle music exemplified the desire for new futures (in his opinion).
@@McBignLargeBJ64 hauntology! Read about this yeah, nice theory. Love how drum and bass said this would be the future sound and to some extent it still is… the ideas have proliferated out into many genres but it’s all still alive and kicking. And what’s more very young heads are actually digging this period up and making it their own!
This was at the end of a seminal Bukem tape we played to f death back in the day. We rolled up a few, laid back and heard some much cherished tracks for the first time- life changed forever right in that moment. Then just as the tape closed, Bukem stopped the music and played this from the top… we literally looked at eachother and we’re like SHITTTTTT!!! The tape faded barely 20’seconds into the intro. The track ID was a mystery for 2 more years. Not knowing used to be a beautiful thing. ❤️
"Not knowing used to be a beautiful thing." - wow... truly poetic, listening to this track it becomes inspiring. Wish you many more amazing experiences!
@@DeepBass75 I've only been into jungle for a little under a year but getting into it has been one of the most refreshing and exciting experiences in my musical journey. This was one of the first tunes I got into and I'm still finding countless masterpieces to this day.
yes you get some dj sets like that, which are just so out there you have to do second takes. thats the best part of being a proper dj......fillers and crowdpleasers was never the rave scene....always guys wanting to do a set and push boundaries....best days ever!!
I find it to be bittersweet. It's forlorn and longing for something, but also brings a glimmer of hope to the forefront. It's beautiful and touching. Always brings tears to my eyes. Then Part 3 brings out the fire.
I know Intense got more notoriety when he started doing stuff for GLR but against DJ Crystl or Invisible Man he doesn't get the props for this EP. This was different level shit back then along with FBD. These joints blow the shit out of all modern dance whether it's drum and bass, dubstep, breaks, whatever...
What an incredible tune. So before it's times. It just takes you on this wonderful uplifting journey from start to finish. A true DnB masterpiece. In fact it's a musical masterpiece full stop.
Classic, great intro track from back in the day. Remix done it justice as well, great work from Intense, this really represents what they were all about in my opinion.
They don't make 'em like this anymore.....and I mean that literally....unfortunately. In those days you could go to Lazerdrome & hear stuff like this, early GLR, early Ganja Recs and ragga jungle in the SAME set.....DJs were just flinging down new beats. Then again Lazerdrome was at the cutting edge....not as cheesy as Labyrinth or anthem bashy as Paradise. They were all good though. Damn I miss those days, but I'm glad I had 'em!!
@@timthegallant Yeah mate, Paradise was wicked too....AWOL and DON F.M. nights were bangers! Lazerdrome was the one for me though! Voted club of the year 3 years in a row by ravers BITD (Elevation awards). We were lucky to have so many banging clubs back then!
@@timthegallant Yeah, those were all wicked too!! I remember dancing on the tables on the Astoria balcony and chilling out on the Camber Sands after WD at Lydd BITD. Happy days man!
Yeah the more I listen I can hear the change but still the same tune.. Just tweaked a bit :).. i shall be starting off with this at a little festival next weekend , and I start as I mean to go on! With 93 stuff Skanna etc etc.. As far as they know im playing 'jazz Funk'... Hhahaa should be interesting ...
i remember buying this from blackmarket records on a saturday morning back in the day when you couldn't even get down the stairs into the lower section. the good old days when proper d.j's mixed the real way. sad times we live in now.
17? Here's my top ten of the intelligent D&B/Jungle sub-genre, assuming you're thirsty for more: 1. PFM - The Western 2. Skanna - This Way 3. Universal - Groove Therapy 4. The Alliance - Virtual Heaven 5. Futurebound - Sorrow 6. JMJ & Richie - Free La Funk (PFM Remix) 7. Intense - Motions VIP 8. J-Laze - Memoryz 9. Seba & Lotek - So Long 10. Intense - Only You #10 was tough. It was a tough pick between The Genesis Project or Only You.
Great list man big up yourself. Studio Pressure, Hokusai, Sounds of Life, Mirage, Source Direct, Nookie and Alaska are all worth a shout too if you're into this sort of thing.
+john smith ahhh sorry man, I wasn't notified with your list!!!! nice one anyway! There's a few tunes in there that I've already listened to before and are classics! :D Thanks
the first 3 minutes of this track are so melancholic. it's like the echos of a world we lost in such a short time
Echos of the lost 2000s future it was envisioned in the 80s & 90s.
And here we are in 22, lost quite a lot hey.. with more to come
Very interesting that I made this comment and then about a year ago found out Mark Fisher wrote about this exact phenomena of lost futures and how jungle music exemplified the desire for new futures (in his opinion).
Fuck that and fuck your damn aiming reasoning

3:43-5:21 is the most magical 98 seconds I've had for a long time.
A real masterpiece. The last section sends me to the space place.
couldnt have said it better myself! that space place...
this song induces crazy nostalgia not even because i know the track just the vibes of it.
this song makes me want 2 cry in a good way
It’s wonderful to find these obscure classics.
absolute pure class
The whole 12 is a lesson in music to anyone who listens. The guy was ahead of his time… way ahead.
It may be the greatest DnB track... The example that we send out into outer space for aliens to find.
Like the genesis capsule 😊
I love this idea.
I also love the idea that WE are also aliens.
The beginning of the track is very comforting....kinda takes you into a meditative state 🧘♂️
I find it to be bittersweet. It's forlorn and longing for something, but also brings a glimmer of hope to the forefront. It's beautiful and touching. Always brings tears to my eyes. Then Part 3 brings out the fire.
Way ahead of its time, my number 1 track. 6 dislikes, for what? Unreal track❤
keep coming back to this slammer.. this is true jungle drums and the bass!!!! wicked! programming superb
A ad came on before this and said "they're will be some drums with bass" it wasn't lieing

Facts
Jesus...such a beautiful tune
It has taken me years to find this. I knew it was Genesis but suddenly 'project' came to mind
Intense is my favorite dnb producer by quite a lot. Hard to top him
They were a group Dan Duncan, Simon Vispi and Beau Thomas
What an incredible tune. So before it's times. It just takes you on this wonderful uplifting journey from start to finish. A true DnB masterpiece. In fact it's a musical masterpiece full stop.
Dear Lord. 🖤
Probably the most complete dnb tune ever... masterpiece.
One of the best 12" I own, bought on a whim too back in the day before you could listen on the internet :D Still fresh as the day I heard it. Bliss...
this tune is absolutely amazing
textbook definition of a tune really
Puts a lump in my throat and a shiver down my spine ❤️
this tune absolutlely blew up at milwaukees.
way ahead of its time

One helluva musical journey. Beautiful.
how did I miss this track after getting into a whole bunch of Intense tracks about 10 years ago.. this is one of the best for sure!
The artwork of the dude holding the gun is dope makes me want to get the record for display purposes

On & on
DJ crystal comes to mind ( sweet dreams)
This is just too much for words. Ambient /breaks/psydub truly ahead of its birth. Biblical
Wow 🤩
Such a dark beauty...
Feel like im in a different realm
what time sounds like
My favourite track ever 👊
Amazing sample it works so well with the rest of it
I heard just "Sax lick " beside this. And that makes me think Intense is awesome.
Anybody remember a strange film from 2001 called Cradle of Fear. This track was in that film
I inadvertently bought the soundtrack because intense were on it. Film snippets made it sound a bit too 'event horizony' to track down and watch...
where abouts in the movie exactly? if you can pinpoint it :D
thank you ❤
My favourite tune ever (my opinion)❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊
Good opinion!!! Makes me think of Terminator...
Just beautiful nice one.
this was nexxxxxxxxttttttt level! still is!
This tracks ambience, to me, is so evocative of Brad Fiedel's track 'Our Gang Goes to Cyberdyne' from Terminator 2. Same sample source perhaps?
A fantastic work of art.
Welcome back🧠
