***** 384 kbps in stereo actually, isn't it (in high definition encoding settings) ?
According to the informations in the support, you get a 384 kbps audio in 720p and 1080p : support.google.com/youtube/answer/1722171?hl=en
That's what I do for 15 months now :-)
So there is a use to create a video with lossless audio files, scaled to 384 kbps AAC (better than the 320 max of the .mp3).
Just beware some type of music, if you mostly upload in .mp4 like me. Using lossless files means a wider frequency range in the videos too, and I noticed that some sub-frequencies (usually around 50 to 60 Hz) tend to be quite distorted and create a high-pitched sound murmur over the low frequencies, which kinda ruins the purpose.
So for these, I encode in .wmv (1080p and 384 kbps too). Seems to handle it perfectly, even if the video is less fluid on transitions, but sound is safe at least.
Other than that, I think you don't need to know anything else !
