I have this problem with my driver side, but I haven’t noticed if it’s that bushing but I thought it was my actual door that needs to be picked up cuz it was falling idk if I make sense like, if I open my door and pick up from the bottom it has a little gap of play up and down
I know this was a few years ago now, but did you have trouble finding new pins with the right size bushing? The only ones I can find are just a little bit too large and jam in the latch when the door is closed.
So my pin and bushings worked great. I replaced the pin and bushings for an 82 F100 and the bushing was definitely too big. I would try substituting a piece of 1/2” pex pipe for the bushing and see if that works.
Fixed mine today by wrapping electrical tabe on the striker until it closed properly. I know I'm cheap and its temporary😂 thanks for showing me what was wrong though
Fixed my door this morning doing this. Appreciate the video. Experience any issues with the door being difficult to open for a little while as the new bushing breaks in?
Great! I'm glad the video helped! The bushing doesn't really require a break in period. If you are still having door closure issues then you need to check a few other things. The hinge pin bushings can wear out and cause problems. Another problem and more tricky to fix is door realignment. If you are still having issues, then make sure the latch in the door is functioning properly. And believe it or not, the door gaskets being too thick can cause problems. Some aftermarket OE door gaskets are a bit to thick. I replaced the door gasket on the passenger side and it was too thick. I had to slam the door to close it every time. I finally changed it out and that fixed the problem. I hope this helps!👍
If you remove the B pillar interior plastic trim, you can expose most of the back side of the exterior sheet metal. You might find that piece down at the bottom. If you can access it, you’ll have to cut the body from the inside to get that threaded nut.
@@TheMinuteMasters I realize that sometimes if the plastic is wore off then a little more needs to be done. Thus case, an adjustment was all that was necessary. I did enjoy this video. MB BAR RANCH

So got 1993 ford saw this video got the pins and now the door won’t open even if go inside and use the handle. I found a way to open it but it seems no matter where I love the pin it’s either to far away and the door doesn’t grab on or to close and does this weird locking problem… any ideas ?
The Minute Masters Do you remember what the part number for that strike pin was? All the auto stores and Amazon state it uses the one from the 90s, and after trying it I found it doesn't work. Thanks in advance!
Andrew Shafer I️ think it’s the largest one in any torques head set. Honestly, just buy a multi-piece torques head set. They come in handy and are pretty cheap. I️ can check back later with ya though.
Hello. I have a 95 F-150 and was having the same problem on my driver side door. I purchased the Dorman Striker bushing kit to replace the plastic bushing. Once that was complete, closed the door to test to new bushing. And now, the door is stuck and I cannot open it from the outside or inside. How can I get the door to open? Thanks
Good question! My dad’s 82 f100 had the same issue after we replaced the bushing. I don’t think we fully diagnosed the issue. However, I would start by first trying to get the door open. It usually takes some tugging but it will open. Just be careful. Once the door is open, there are two potential problems causing this issue. Either the strike pin needs to be aligned more or the door latch itself is worn out. You could have both problems.
@@jamesjohnson536 You’re welcome man!🤙 If you have a helper, have them push on the door from the inside. They will have reduce the force being applied to the exterior handle.
@@TheMinuteMasters Good News!!!! I was able to get it open. It had taken about 7 tries solo but it opened with no damage. I removed the bushing and in the meantime replaced it with electrical tape. I'm going to try to grind it down with a sander. Thanks for your help!!! J
@@jamesjohnson536 Great to hear! You can test the functionality of the door latch by removing the strike pin and manually pushing it into the latch with you hand. If it gets stuck then the door latch is the issue. You can always try sanding the plastic sleeve down too.
Guess again!🤙 two things can cause this issue a the new replacement bushings are just a tad thicker than the stock ones and so it’s holding your door too tight. The other one is the strike pin has moved in further and is holding the door to type to the frame either way it’s pretty tricky to get the door open but tugging on the door from the outside or trying to remove the panel from the inside, and manipulating the latch are the only ways to get it open.
Did this and it took the play out of my door. Excellent and much better but the door still isn't fully closing and water is getting in my cab. Help @Minute Masters
Jayce Williams Nice! So there are a few other things you can check. The hinge pins usually wear out and door gaskets can break down. Both can cause sags in the door that can cause leaks. More than likely, you entire door needs to be adjusted to fit the door gasket. You just want to make sure the hinges and gaskets are in good condition first. I check for leaks by pouring water over the area with the suspected leak. The top of your door probably needs to be adjusted in toward the truck.
I was able to replace the plastic collar with a piece of ½ cpvc. Reamed out with a ½ drill bit it fits great, doors close perfectly now. Problem solved
AK.WAS.HERE2015 I just did a quick Google search and I’m seeing two kinds of door strike pins. One seems to have a metal bushing and another seems to have a plastic one similar to my truck.
.:T0X1CV01D:. That sucks man. It’s definitely something you have to play around with to get just right. However, there are other things that can keep a door from not closing. Hinges not aligned and door handle mechanisms being loose.
