After finding a filter full of water and slime, we changed the Racor fuel filter. This was a smaller filter but the actions are nearly identical for most sizes of single Racor filters. The boat ran entirely differently after this change. Just remember to open and drain the bottom bowl and then get going!!

Thank you for the great video, it clearly shows how dirty these filters get and if they are not maintained, it defeats the purpose of having the filter. How big was the engine in this boat?

      A little 3 cylinder to push a 32ft cat.
Happy that we could help and enjoy your boat!!

Maybe I missed something, but you first talked about this being a self bleeding system, but then later discussed the bleed valve on the Racor. Also (someone else asked this too…) Assume fuel should be shut off before this change (??) but I don’t know if you did that. Also, why is there no black gasket on top of the replacement filter? Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

Do you need to shut off your fuel before removing filter?

What was the big white arrow head pointer on the top of the filter mount, was it pointing to an air bleed plug when you're finished and cranking engine...mine has a large white plastic star-shaped knob on top..so thought your white arrow might be pointing to something similar...camera work was too far away for most of the video...and the dark shirt made it impossible to see the black drain plug you were holding up in front of you and opening on bottom to drain fuel.
People talk about "polishing" the fuel, but if you have no gunk and/or water in this filter, what's the point of "polishing," ...and how is that typically done if you did ?
