Every time I see this clip I am struck by how different Monty and Marlon were. Even in this little home movie they both have tremendous screen presence and astonishing looks, but they both command your attention is opposite ways. Marlon has the physical presence with his bravado and sexy piercing looks, while Monty is the soft, sensitive dreamer in his own world.
They were so young then, children in comparison to their careers. Happy, having fun, just playing around. A make shift movie from a borrowed camera...This is a keeper in my video vault.

He was also apparently close to both Brando and Clift, and was one of the first at the scene of Clift's big auto accident, along with Liz Taylor.

Brando was so private, so they could only gain info from people on the margin of his life. These writers made up their stories. Brando's first wife was the curse of his life. She used their son to continue to hold onto him without considering her son's well-being. They were together a year then divorced. So whatever she wrote was an one-sided account.
There will be others close to him who deny what Carlo Fiore stated. I don't believe any biographies, not about him and not his own. I only believe what can be proven. And it is a fact that the was a great actor and activist who passionately defended minorities way before it was "common" and drew attention to injustice. So yeah, anyone who supports a good cause is (in my opinion) someone who's worthy of my "affection"..

@Daviysoh I really don't think Hollywood was more tolerant of gays and lesbians back then, not even close. The people who we now believe was bi- or homosexual never stated it in public. People like Clift, Dean, Hudson and so on. Their friends probably knew about their sexual orientation end tendencies, but they never said it out loud.

Some people especially artists never want to be defined and we should respect them for that rather than calling them closet cases. Monty Clift was a great actor. Period. Unfortunately, he is referred more as that classic bisexual actor than one of the greatest actors and interesting persons of our time.
