1st filipino and 1st asian to win in an american singing competition.atleast since american idol phenomena bec filipina BANIG ROBERTO won a US competition.Filipinos have joined different singing contest for the longest time before and since american idol season 1 wc was like 20 yrs ago and everytime, filipinos get excited but success had been so elusive to the extent that it is sensed that no filipino would ever win an american singing competition no matter how good he/she is bec of politics and manipulations in the industry. But it was all broken with the help of michael who has a deep relationship and connection w the philippines and filipinos. He supported shared all his knowledge to safronio and really inspired pushed him to do very well in the competition. Not discounting safronios vocal prowess he is perfect but honestly if its not for michael's mentorship, the win would not be possble. Imagine if he chose gwen or snoop, he must have been first to go. The bond and connection of sofronio to michael wc transcends to all of the filipinos who love michael as a musician is significantly unbreakable and sacred.
