The absolute best moment is when he's trying to follow along after he slides between their legs. He gets up...looks around....and grabs his crotch in pain. It kills me every time.
The funniest musical number ever filmed, everybody was great, Nielsen, Zadora, Joe Grifasi, the dancers, timing, editing, that spectacular Steve Allen tune !!! Thank You ZAZ guys, your films are pure comedy gold, Blessings from San Juan 🇵🇷 !!!
My favourite scene from the movie. I laughed like a loony the first time I saw it, and it still makes me giggle :D. Drebin's terrible attempts to blend in as one of the dancers just make it better :D.
Best part is when he hits the guys in their balls, stands up, sees them clutching their groins, and thinks it's part of the choreography. So he just immediately copies them.
The sound effects really help bring out the humor! My favorite part is at the end where Pia is staggering around with the tuba on her head with the little "toot toot" sounds. 2:49
It’s incredible to think that pia Zadora had possibly the funniest scene in the whole trilogy, yet she never had any verbal interaction with frank or even knew who he was.
Thank you for posting this. Its one of the funniest scene in history and I can't believe no one else has posted it in its entirety. This was my favorite sequence from the entire series.
While some of what you see here is of course a stunt man, it's kind of amazing to know Leslie Nielsen was 68 when they filmed this (almost 70!), and he still handled all the physical comedy like a pro.
1:53 Thanks Naked Gun😔😔😔 Because of this song, I can't stop randomly shout in public places, "YOU'RE ORDERING WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINE!!!!" 🤣🤣🤣
Summer of 1979. Riviera Hotel in Vegas. Zadora was the headline and Milton Berle was the opener. Was a huge fan of the comedian, dancer was an unknown. Skipped the show and the last night in town, while eating at the hotel steak house. Berle enters though a hidden side door. Sat a couple tables over and ordered his meal. Leaving, friend's and me exchanged a brief greeting with the gentleman. Sure wish now that I had seen Pia. The voice is a mile big.
@zg1000dru1 just about to write that i also love when he's trying to get her wig out of his hand, looks at the camera, does this quick little dance then gets right back to getting rid of that wig lol
The first time my family and me saw this, we laughed until our stomachs hurt! Credit to the extras, the stunned looks at 1:23 and 2:29 really add to the comedy factor.
@@JohnSmith-qn3ob yes they did. However, pia is a very talented and legit singer. This girl who studied voice very hard for so many years and became technically up there with all of the very best singers such as Liza Minnelli, Vicky Carr, Tony tennille, Shirley Bassie and many others. Strangely, for some reason she never became the star that she deserved to be. This was probably because of poor/ or wrong management. Such a talented waste. 🤔🥺😟
This is one of the funniest scenes in the film (closely followed by the now somewhat politically incorrect, but still hilarious, scene that comes immediately afterwards). What is fascinating is that whilst choreographing a dance to work properly is difficult enough at the best of times, choregraphing a dance so that it doesn't work deliberately for the purpose of humour is even cleverer.
Right? It was probably much more difficult for Leslie NOT to be in sync with the other dancers and troll the whole thing. Leslie's style of comedy is lightning in a bottle that can never be duplicated.

Thank you for your interest in all things choreographic. Rock On! MG
Her career sure was interesting. First a child actress in ”Santa Claus Conquers the Martians”, called one of the worst movies ever, then in the 80s starred in a few movies financed by her husband, won a Golden Globe and people accused her/her husband of bribing the jury, ”The Lonely Lady” was also regarded as one of the worst movies ever, she won Razzie awards. Hollywood didn’t think very highly of her so it’s really to her credit that she made fun of herself like this in this movie. She also had a small role in John Water’s ”Hairspray” and had a big hit with ”When the Rain Begins to Fall” with Jermaine Jackson. And I hear she still performs regularly in Las Vegas.
Mr. Nielsen...from Police Academy to this....he doesn't have to say anything, yet he's hilarious! Rehearsals must have been an ordeal with everyone trying to keep a straight face
What idiot thought it was a good idea to place Pia on Drebin's shoulders, after all he'd done during the performance? Clearly, someone had a vendetta against Pia Zadora.
Presumably the guy who frank replaced was supposed to have her on his shoulders at the end. The dancers weren’t able to talk to form a plan, they were just trying to perform the dance routine and ignore the chaos all around them.
Wasn't it that she sang at some award show and actually surprised everyone and shut up her critics for a brief time then went on to do this skit to lampoon her own performance? During those years Phylicia Rashad's (The Cosby Show) sister Debbie Allen (Fame tv series) choreographed many of the over-done award show dance numbers and people were getting tired of them. This was the most hilarious send up they could think of and it really hit the mark.
Honestly, this musical number wouldn't have been half as entertaining without Drebin hopelessly derailing it. Seriously, we needed a Super bowl halftime show where Leslie Nielsen went on as Frank Drebin and runs it into the ground.
2:19 Pia: this could be the start of something..........BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII..........AGH! (crash!) Audience: (gasp) oooooooh.......... Director: ugh........(faints)

This one... people got hurt, the stage director needed maalox, the conductor of the orchestra couldn't even look up at the stage, and then topped off with Drebin throwing up in a tuba.
NadrianATRS in her eye she is still the superstar, has a room at an Italian restaurant in Vegas. "Pia's Place", where you can enjoy the show, a fine dining experience and a "piatini".

I can tell that the track still is frequently played on the radio in Austria is a classic 80s pop song every child knows. But she was really more or less a one hit wonder, but people know her name.
Yep, whether you like or not. A few big hits in several countries...around the world, actually. So, I'm guessing that would make her an international star. One of her singles sold 500,000 copies in France, alone...with an additional 250,000 copies in Germany. I gotta admit, though, this scene from Naked Gun is comedy gold.
The very end where Pia Zadora is stuck in a tuba gets me everytime 😂😂
Same! The whole sequence is hilarious but that makes me laugh the hardest each time!

I'm amazed at how Pia Zadora kept a straight face through this scene.
She did seem to have a look of panic when frank had ripped her wig off and she had to do the dance without it! Absolutely hilarious scene 😅
Well in fairness she was lip syncing
