The Palace is located in the town of Ettal which is a municipality in the District of Garmisch Partenkirchen. The Palace can be reached from Munich via Train operated by DB which stops at the town of Oberammergau. From Oberammergau you can take the bus which is included in you Bayern Ticket.

Linderhof is much smaller than Versailles, it is evident that the palace of the French Sun-King Louis XIV was its inspiration.
