That last half-swording was just badass. For those who don't know,it's technique used by knights to pierce armour by crushing it with the cross guard of the sword.
@@Magne_Starkson not particularly unrealistic. Being flung around like that would hurt but she has her own armour which would prevent the direct trauma to her bones. Also considering how tight the hallway is, she's not being flung quickly enough or hard enough into adjacent walls zo "break" much of anything. She literally never lands a hit that sticks until she stabs up beneath the greathelm. As someone who does armoured fighting sports I can say confidently that would work. In fact, unlike other swords like arming swords or longsword, which can eventually hurt a knight enough to bring them down to be finished off (ideally) by landing lucky stabs or solid slashes into armour gaps, I don't think a katana could reliably blunt force a medieval knight by dropping hits on armour gaps. She won the one way that she realistically could have. It would be unrealistic though if she, for example, did an execution on him where she elbows him and then spins around and then decapitates him with a one-hand reverse grip slash.
@@Phoenix6942-7 fr it's annoying. I turn off dismemberments when playing some characters because their executions often look better without the excessive decapitations when the head is sneezed on.

Is it wrong that my favorite character in this video is Shield-bro at 1:38? Trailer would have ended a minute earlier if he wasn't there to be a champion. RIP Shield-bro, a true hero. o7
+NumPad I'm guessing the shield-bro is basically the new player joining the fray, you know, that 1 guy that sticks with the MVP of the team- only there to serve as a distraction should the MVP be in deep shit. Still... 10/10 shield-bro should be led to Valhalla!
+Jake Williams Von Starcher I think Samurai are superior in pretty much everything to knights and vikings. You know they have better equipment (katanas, naginatas and stuff) better training, better technique and are way faster than knights or vikings. Their only disadvantage is that they can´t really block heavy weapons.
Except that's not at all the case. Katanas are really not any better than a European longsword, you can find plenty of videos of katanas and longswords cutting and there is really little difference - however we do know that longswords are better at thrusting and are usually longer and therefore have more reach. And naginatas are very similar to European glaives, halberds, poleaxes, bills, voulges, and other pole weapons. And there is no comparison between European steel plate armor and Japanese samurai armor which presents far more gaps and openings And if you look up HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts) you'll see that medieval European techniques are very diverse and effective. And historically speaking knights were trained from youth, often by skilled fencing masters.
+Jake Williams Von Starcher Katanas may not be sharper but they were lighter and better to maneuver with (which is also true for naginatas). Once you swing a longsword there is no coming back, with katana you can change direction of blow which is imo huge advantage. Knights were also heavily weightened down by armour and heavy weapons/shield which also gives them huge disadvantage so (especially against fast moving samurais.).
I love how the weapon moves are real techniques, they got that right in a way. To those who know at least a little about these kind of stuff, will understand. Has a strong Hollywood dose of course. Really looking forward to this.
Johan Dale No sarcasm at all, but reading my comment it does sound like it could be... I guess I wrote it very quickly.... but yeh the movements are very well done, you can see the fighters reacting to each other in a believable way and it feels like real combat. I can even feel the emotions like the fear and adrenaline of them....It must have taken a lot of work to do the choreography and then the animations, also the sound, editing, camera work is perfect. They should make a whole movie :)
This trailer is beautiful. It's not only showing us three factions at one, synchronous way, but introduce each one of them. I mean the culture, traditions, their own beliefs. First one is knights. See: at the very beginning it's a hand taking the sword and bloody helmet. Maybe it's helmet of the fallen brother, maybe friend in order. Further they look at each other and nod silently, like they say "for glory and our people, bro". These things defenetly points on their own code of honor. Further we can see a breach and a berserker, which is furious and want blood, but a bit later about vikings. At 1:13 we can see samurai running and the environment is changing as the time of day. That's clearly a represent of way of the samurai. Represent of their dedication to a duty and simply a life path. Further, at 1:32 we see berserker running like wild on the enemy and the background battlecry in the song is saying "Die! Die!". No words. Just an amazing representation of fearlessness and a desperation of vikings. And when he falls, the other viking protect him from dying (it's a minion, actually xD). If you watching the Vikings TV show, you will feel it. Anyway, there's even more in this trailer, i've just pointed at very obvious things. ^^ Good job, devs. Good fucking job.
We have to give something to this game. A year ago, people made memes about knights holding their swords wrong. Now, the badasserie of half-swording is mainstream. All hail For Honor :D
It also has real historical precedence. In medieval Europe, broad bladed weaponry such as swords were reduced in effectiveness due to plate armor, but since shields weren't necessarily with plate armor both hands could be used for the sword. While flails, maces and hammers were more effective against armor there were special anti armor techniques designed for swords, specifically claymore a and the like. Part of these techniques included holding the sword by the blade, since you had steel gauntlets you didn't have to worry about cutting your hands.
I love it when the warden fight back, HE cut of that samurai head and just stabbed the other guys shoulder, that was amazing, and also when the Orochi was fighting those knights bro he stabbed him in the neck, that was epic and crazy

Unchained Irony All sounds good to me, I just rly like that they actually included half-swording :P almost nobody knows what it is and as a result think it looks dumb, which it rly isnt cx
Tracer Halfswording was meant to bash armour which was logical as Europeans had to fight opponents with Platearmor. Of course they also had Maces and shit {Which I also really hope they add} But it makes sense, added to the fact halfswording was also meant to pierce into the gaps of Plate, it makes sense from a European point of view. But not many people are aware of the fact Europe had martial arts, infact the word Martial arts comes from Rome xD
Unchained Irony People seem to forget the actual life-long training and skill required to actually become a knight :P most people seem to see Samurai and think "ohh katana + feudal Japan? ultimate fighting machine" when in reality they were no better trained or equipped than their European counterparts. In many cases the European armories were better in terms of the materials used and defensive capabilities of their armour

possible future warriors: Spartans, Huns, Roman Legionnaires, Spanish conquistadors, Persian Empire, Qing dynasty warriors, Ottoman Soldiers, Greek Macedonians, The Mongolian army, Zulu Army, Indian rajput, Incan & Azteca Armies, etc. what else is there that I missed?
I feel like I'm gonna have a heart attack just watching the f#cking trailer!! It's just PURE ADRENALINE!!! It's got that dark, rich atmosphere that makes you feel like you're in a real do-or-die situation! This game is going change the very fabric of our universe. And that's still an understatement.
I like the realism in the combat here, aside from the swords magically slashing through armor. I don't imagine it would be easy to cut through steel with steel. Use a thrust to pierce the armor or use a weapon with a lot of force behind it to crush the armor (war hammer, mace, axe, etc.)
Jacob Kreger I'm wondering why so many are pointing that out since for me it looks like they are always hitting weak spots or are using techniques (shown by halfswording at 2:07) to kill them regardless their armor.
Vertox San There are moments like the one at 0:38. You can see the chain-mail sleeve on the knight's arm and I doubt he is wearing anything less than a chain-mail shirt. Assuming he is wearing a full shirt, the samurai's sword would have had to cut directly through the mail on his back in order to draw blood. The moment you referenced is very good though. He stunned the samurai by hitting his helmet with the hilt of his sword, and then struck him in a weak spot between the pauldron and the helmet. At many times they do use good techniques, but sometimes they don't and it is slightly irksome.
Jacob Kreger Fair enough even though I'd say a Katana wouldn't have that much trouble with a simple chain mail (Which is arguable I have to admit). On quite a few things this game seems not trying to be 100% realistic.
Vertox San It's a good step forward though. It is a lot more realistic than most games. It is just so much more so that its idiosyncrasies are even more noticeable. Either way this is going to be a good game, assuming Ubisoft doesn't botch it (60fps please).
Now if only the game had turned out like this. Goddamn I’d play a game like the trailer instead of the sadness the game became. I still play it though.
So ubisoft, after all the fail planning and countermeasures for your "AAA" Division. I totally felt like giving up on you guys. This title truly brings me back to Chivalry which was an enjoyable yet simple game. Do you guys deserve a second chance from your customers tbh..? Better not fuck it up once again...
Dyna-Myke Been looking into it and yeah apparently it's great. Unfortunately I couldn't get into the alpha but it seems great. I'm a little worried but the game isn't all that incredibly hype worthy to begin with, it's just something cool that's coming out next year, to me.
I don't know much about samurai or vikings but I know there is some accuracy at 1:28 where knight winds up his attack, because knights fought in crazy heavy armor. So they're opponents would usually take a while to respond to their attack no matter how much you broadcast it.
Anyone else notice the samurai who calls for archers continues running for the next 20 seconds across the battlefield in different scenes up the stairs? omg how cool was that
A Samurai katana would be almost useless against European weaponry and armour. We've all heard the stories of katana breaking other swords and going clean through armour. And that happened - in Japan, where they were being repeatedly hit against other katana and where the armour was made of lacquered wood. Against plate mail and a broadsword you might as well use a twig
Matt Dean Actually Samurai used mail and plate armor that was tampered harder then anything knights were using.(the Lacquered Wood your thinking of was used by the standard soldiers in Feudal Japan) And a Katana has been proven to not only be more resilient then most standard bastard swords and broad swords, but they are capable of cutting thru claymore's. The steel used in Feudal Japan was much stronger then the the steel forged in areas like medieval France and England. Samurai were few and unique thus the gear they wore were made of quality. Knights were made by the dozens so there gear was built with quantity in mind not quality. It was very common in medieval times for Knights squires to carry multiple weapons in reserve for the Knights because there weapons constantly broke in battle and could not always be repaired at a smithy. You dont block with the blade of a sword, you block with the guard or the flat side. Katana's are more the capable of handling the blows. Also the Naginata (Samurai's version of a Halberd) were such thick and sturdy blades that they were capable of cutting, a fully armored knight in plate mail, in half.
***** Hm guess history is bollocks as well. Its fact bro. Reality is that, most people in NA and Europe know fuck all about feudal age japan and only slightly more about medieval age Europe. And get most of there "facts" from movies and fictional books. But yea please feel free and show me where I am incorrect. Id love that.
+RAGEINGChiken Knight armor was strongest. Also the swords weren't heavier and weak. A katana due to the bashing broke the sword quickly. Your comment made me lol

Outstanding work. Thank you.

Viking:I
Samurai:wont
Knight:give
All togehter:up
I use to watch this video over and over when I was in the military! It motivated me to face everyday with honor! For honor!
2:00 revenge activated!
Man, it's incredible this game is 8 years old
When you realize that the last soldier at 1:15 gets completely missed by the arrow storm, doesn't even flinch; and instead trips on the stairs.
Now if only the game had turned out like this.
Goddamn I’d play a game like the trailer instead of the sadness the game became. I still play it though.
This trailer will never get old!
cant stop enjoying this video !!!
Let's hope not. I'm really excited for the multiplayer, hoping for some sort of 1v1 mode
Strongly recommend this game.
I got in on the closed alpha and this game is very good. The 1v1 multiplayer is brilliant
Dyna-Myke Been looking into it and yeah apparently it's great. Unfortunately I couldn't get into the alpha but it seems great. I'm a little worried but the game isn't all that incredibly hype worthy to begin with, it's just something cool that's coming out next year, to me.
The movement feel alot like assassins creed.
The music and sound really got my attention. Immaculate.
This trailer had no business going this damn hard. It still gives me chills. The game? Not so much anymore.
I don't know much about samurai or vikings but I know there is some accuracy at 1:28 where knight winds up his attack, because knights fought in crazy heavy armor. So they're opponents would usually take a while to respond to their attack no matter how much you broadcast it.
This new Clash of Clans DLC looks amazing
Damn man how old r u ?
PURE POWER
I am for years old
Lmfao
***** fight me irl
+Spitzkopf Larry m8
I swere on mi mum
Anyone else notice the samurai who calls for archers continues running for the next 20 seconds across the battlefield in different scenes up the stairs? omg how cool was that
i never got in to these kind of games but im going to get this!
i view this again. this is one of the best trailers ever made still to this day.
So "Deadliest Warriors" the game done right. Cool. I hope we can customize character and armor.
No game trailer comes close to For Honor’s. All of them are amazing works. 7 years and still the favourite.
Is really nice to see a game with vikings in it, without them wearing those stupid horned helmets.
If only they stuck withit
heroesytumbas >___>
Oh 2015 how I miss you life was good
yeah man, miss those days :)
RAGEINGchicken, you need to check your sources mate because pretty much all of what you said is bollocks.
Pedro Castellanos ur comment makes me laugh. you know nothing about knights, samurai or swords. Go do some research knight-fanboy.
All-time best gameplayers have been created for For Honor. All of them is class.
Game is fantastic and alvays has been..
It is such a shame that even though there's a live service.. so little is being added to the game nowdays..
no maps, and baerly any new content.
For Honor had and still have potential to be a highly compettetive game like R6 but the dedication is needed..
Too little of a player base to justify spending more resources to add new things. Money talks💯
kurwa ten trailer tak wymiata że mam łzy w oczach za każdym razem jak go oglądam. czekać tylko na grę i zobaczyć czy hype przetrwa.
1:01 this part is epic : just look how the Samuraï runs in the battlefield ...Wait all this trailer is EPIC !
One of the greatest and underrated games of all time
VALHALLA!!
Thank you Ubisoft
1:55 look, shiet, that viking is good, he had an axe, and after the firining ball passes, he has a sword ! :D
I noticed that too.
I love this game it actually made my eyes water when I first watched it well done ubsoft you always seem to amaze me whenever you bring out game well done guys
Bet you feel silly now
I'm sooo chosing the vikings! :)
Me to m8
Daniel Chabloco Knights FTW
Daniel Chabloco Represent. Finally us northeners get to show our colors properly in a game.
Samurai will rule the lands!
SirMuffinCat yes! The Knights are easily the most badass and then samurai is second. Vikings are the worst!
Good mix of realistic fighting movements and styles, with a healthy helping of Hollywood ridiculousness thrown in. Definitely going to be watching for more about this game. Of course, I'd like to see gameplay before I get hyped, but this is one damn good trailer.
There are so many goose bump moments in this trailer that I always gotta revisit it every so often but that part with the Samurai shouting "archerrrrrrs" then charging into battle at 1:00 gets those hair sticken up real fast, every time.
Bro literally, the scene in the tight corridor with the samurai and knight gets me every time
1:58 My favorite bit of the music and scene. (Unfortunately the official one doesn't include this part of the soundtrack).
I never understood these cinematic trailers that have nothing to do with gameplay or how the game will actually look like.
ssuuppeerrbbooyy Then go watch the gameplay?
Thats ubisoft myfrend.. spoil us with the trailer n destroy us with the gameplay.
ssuuppeerrbbooyy Yeah and all those stupid intro cutscenes in games... or maybe thats used to set the mood because people like to see awesome stuff ;-)
ssuuppeerrbbooyy
it looks cool tho :P
ssuuppeerrbbooyy It looks very much like this in the Game play they showed at E3.
1:45 The best scene EVER. Ubisoft making the best trailers
“They have guns now?”
Remember when the game looked like this?
Good times...
I felt that.
I felt it too
Did anybody else notice that whenn the trailer cuts back to Shield-Bro's asshole of a companion, he's holding a longsword instead of his axe?
yes
7 years past and i still feel sad for what happened to Shield-bro.
Amazing. Knights for me are the best.
This trailer had me at the edge of my seat
I whish for honor kept it's more dark and grim roots
2:01 I remember watching this as a kid and just absolutely loving this scene, no clue why this popped up in my for you page after so long but I am not complaining.
Knights vs Vikings vs Samurai? I was expecting a pirate somewhere. That would have been great. Just a bunch of guys wobbling in with peg legs and squawking parrots.
GassedGasMask7 that would be chivalry
Saucy Aleks Yup, that's the one
GassedGasMask7 lol PVK
GassedGasMask7 future DLC expansion set.
Arcaneraven true
This music... This footage... It's so... bloody beautiful :')
This game will be so awesome it will bring PvP to a whole other level!

looks fucking sweet!
3 years and look where we come from this!
1:38 brave grunt, rest in valhalla
Those transitions are just wonderful!
