I definitely retire makeup that is nostalgic to me. I have a little drawer that has my very first lipstick from 6th grade and the lipstick I wore for my wedding that I loved. Keeping those forever. I also imagine that I’ll retire into that drawer my very first high end eyeshadow palette that my husband bought me for my birthday. There are some things I won’t use that have a place in my heart that I can’t let go of

Would love to see a “Full Face of Firsts” using the first product from each category that made you feel like you were really using makeup (eg, the Mary Loumanizer was your “first” highlight). Would be fun to see some throwback products and what you think of them now!

As a makeup collector myself I really enjoy youtubers with similarly sized collections, but I have to say it's an absolute breathe of fresh air in this YT community to see you normalizing NOT having every single product known to the industry. It's so great that someone can promote a smaller collection of items you truly love and use! So appreciate that!

Loving these declutter videos 🙂 I really want one of those lunar beauty highlights - I adore the packaging! But unfortunately it isn't available in Canada and don't want to pay shipping/duty etc.
I know this is random, but I enjoy watching your videos because my preferences are different to yours. I don’t mean that in a bad way, it’s just when you don’t like something, I usually do and when you like something, I usually don’t. Off the top of my head when you say you don’t really care for the rare beauty highlight, I’m like ooh that’s my jam. You love the Nars climax mascara and I can’t stand it haha

Great declutter Samantha. There were a couple of surprises you had in there. 😳😳 As you move new products in though, others have to move out. Mary Lou was my first highlight too, mine is a bit beaten up because it has travelled with me quite a lot (back when travel was a thing). I feel like now a lot of people even say that one is quite stark but on my quite fair skin it is still beautiful. I don’t use it as much anymore because I have been loving more natural products & creams, but I still keep it around because it’s nostalgic & I think it was one of my first high end products at all.

You could declutter in sections. You could do a group where you pull out the highlighters that you are keeping for nostalgia purposes. Then, you could pull the next group out that is staying for sure. Then, you can remove the ones that you want to declutter for sure, no doubts. The last group is the maybe section.

I’m binging the whole declutter series
For the cookie highlighter, I took it out of the packaging and just have it sit on the lid of my trinket box (it’s like a canister lid from a peppermint box, so it’s small) inside my makeup draw when I use it. I reach for it more when it’s just sitting in my makeup drawer just in the open pan.

The maryloumanizer was my first highlight as well! I think theBalm is such a good brand for beginners because the packaging and theme is cute. It was also the only brand besides clinique my local dept store carried. The oliver bronzer also became a holy grail for me.

I love when you show all your products, even the ones you keep for sentimental or RUclipsr reasons. I love hearing your stories and reasoning about why you are keeping, AND if I like something you show and it happens to be on sale or bring clearanced then I know whether or not I think it’s worth spending the $. For instance, I recently saw the MAC Hyperglow at Ross. I was so interested in it, but wasn’t sure of quality. Now I know 😂. I’m bummed because I did not buy it 😩😩 However, if I see it in the future.....
Also, you telling the stories and reasons why you do or don’t like something let’s us get to know YOU better, and your make up preferences, to see how they align with ours. I prefer you show your whole collection with declutters. Sorry if that was repetitive!!

Like most commenters, I enjoy seeing the whole collection because people new to your channel haven't seen you use all the products. But maybe show all the "not up for debate" in the beginning, and then declutter the remainders.

Thankfully I'm not a big bronzer or highlighter collector lol. I'm good with my Ofra Signature Glow palette and my Flexitarian and Guilty Pleasure Colourpop Supershocks. Sometimes I use eyeshadow too. There are some things I want of course but just haven't been able to bring myself to buy yet. Now eyeshadow palettes and lipsticks and glosses is another story.
I tried mentally counting my lip products yesterday and gave up at 50 😮 palettes are definitely over 30...

I tried Flexatarian in the past and had to give it away. I am super yellow toned and light medium and I felt the same. It was a little too stark on me. I ended up giving it to my friend’s daughter since she’s pretty fair.
Wow definitely a couple surprises! I would still like to see the products you know that you’re not going to declutter, it’s still nice to hear your opinions about them and see them. 😊 would love to see bronzers next!

Idk if this would help you, but I gave my highlighters divider into 2 groups: the first are highlighters that I would use everywhere- all over my cheekbones.. nose etc- and the second really blingy-( or ones I ordered and when they arrived they were Gorg But a bit to slimmey/glittery- and those I use the tiniest Amt just at the tippy top of my cheek bones.. maybe a little on my brow bone. Anyway that’s what I do w Flexitarian nowadays since I’ve brought my overall glow in a more natural direction

I love when you dig you dig into the declutters. Flexitarian is a tiny but light for me so I passed it to my fairer sister... but now you inspired me to pull out “on the cusp” too since it’s the other SS highlight I have. ❤️
