The Angel face you see is the Haserot, named “The Angel of Death Victorious". The stoic angel is seated on the marble gravestone of canning entrepreneur Francis Haserot and his family. Holding an extinguished torch upside-down, it represents a symbol of life extinguished. Wings are outstretched and the gaze is straight ahead.
IN THE END, DEATH ALWAYS WINS. LEST THE FACES NOT BE FORGOTTEN...
This channel is focused on casually walking and viewing a handful of the thousands of forgotten names and faces at various cemeteries near and afar. Seeing their faces up close. And when able, telling the stories behind their names.
Most graves are unknown and lost to history.
    Some are famous.
    And some infamous....
    ....and some with tragic endings.

I feel bad for Mr. Bowman. He lost his firstborn Daughter at only 4 Months of age. And then, some years later, his other Daughter, Ella, died young as well. And then, Addie and Ella’s Mom, followed them beyond the Veil, just a year after Ella died. A lot to f tragedy in this Man’s Life. Very sad indeed. May The Bowman Family Rest In Peace.

Thank God nobody has bothered this mausoleum. I had a flash back to a mausoleum atop a cliff that was desecrated and destroyed and it was a Dad who wanted a safe and beautiful place for his family to rest in peace, too. So glad there are people in this town that watch over this mausoleum and keep bad people away from it. It is also a major attaction for the town. One would have thought the people in the other story of the mausoleum atop the cliff would have also thought of the mausoleum as an attraction for people to come and pay respects. But, that wasn't the case. I pray that this one continues to be protected.

What a beautiful, lifelike statue of Mr. Bowman ascending the mausoleum to bring his flowers. It just gave me the chills. He was a deep feeler and that is apparent by the things left behind. I've heard of setting a place at dinner tables for those who are absent or deceased. Perhaps that gave him some comfort in the evening. I will not judge him or say he misspent his wealth on memorializing his wife and children, that was his decision and I respect that. Another late January birthday person like me, I feel a kinship with him. May they all rest in peace on earth and may they be united and whole in heaven. 🕊️

He gave work to 125 people, many skilled artisans obviously, plus sculptors who were no doubt grateful for the commissions and put their hearts into their work, plus the granite very probably came from local quarries. The tomb and mansion attract visitors who surely stop off in town to eat and patronize the local shops. Even the highway through there looks immaculate. So in the end, it was worth what was put into the project, though unfortunately it was due to tragic untimely deaths of the poor guy's whole family.

We have nothing like that here in Australia. There’s a few landmarks dotted here and there but absolutely nothing as amazing as that. There possibly may have been once but developers would have bulldozed it to make way for housing or tourist sites to cash in. I do notice those buildings were in need of some paint externally but inside it looks like a museum. I hope the community or whoever looks after the grounds might raise some money to restore the buildings to their former glory. Mr Bowman sounds like a man who really loved his family and is deserving to have his estate made pristine once again.

The building that you mentioned to be a garage was actually once called a "carriage house". Well to do people, especially along the East Coast, often had them For example, many can be seen in Bradley beach, New Jersey. Nowadays, they are often converted into upstairs apartments, with a garage underneath. They make excellent homes for single people, and are especially nice as mother in law apartments. The main house was usually quite large, often with three stories, Over the last twenty years or so, many new owners have taken great pains to restore them back to functionality, after having fallen into disrepair over many decades.

That beautiful and haunting music set the theme for the tragedy that befell the Bowman family, and the sadness of John as he watched the progress of the mausoleum. The statue took my breath away- so lifelike, figure of grieving, kind of creepy though. It seems like his heart was broken, but he put all his devotion into the mausoleum. This is a sad story of a man who had everything and then lost all his loved ones. He must have grieved horribly after the deaths of his wife and daughters. I couldn't help but notice his statue was on the top step, as if he were approaching his own death to be buried at the mausoleum with his family, bringing them gifts of flowers. My heart breaks for him. He never got his reincarnated family. Even though he believed to the end. What a beautiful place for them to rest. The architecture of the mausoleum, mansion and outbuildings was stunning, you could tell he had money. Your appreciation of this lovely place did not go unnoticed by this viewer, as well as the slight touch of emotion as you told this sad tale. One of your best finds yet. Really loved this story.

I was inside the mansion when it was an antique bookstore. The window at the top of of the stairs that you have pictured was also made of colored glass; beautiful. Upstairs in the back there was a very narrow hall into the servant quarters. I have heard local legend that if one drives by the mausoleum and glances quickly, they might see an image of a little girl near Mr. Bowman's statue. There was a novel written, inspired by the Bowman story. It was rather a frightening book. I read it in the 1980's, loaned it out and never received it back. I did not write down the author's name nor the title of the novel before it left my hands. Does anyone have any information about the novel?

Ron...One more excellent story of the lives that have gone before us. Mr. Bowman was truly a broken-hearted man. He couldn't live the remaining years of his life far away from his family. He had to be watching over them from his, I imagine, lonely mansion. He even memorialized that sadness in his statue gazing into the crypt where his family rested. (Speaking of his statue, is it just me or does his left arm appear to be longer than it should be?) Wealth certainly doesn't protect us from the sadness that comes from seeing our loved ones pass before us and eventually joining them in the hereafter. Thank you!

What a sad story and such a beautiful one you have given us tonight, Ron. This is a testimony of love and deepest devotion felt in families who are very close to each other. The love that both binds the heart and soul for eternity…
“10 And his disciples asked him, saying, Why then say the scribes that Elias must first come?
“11 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things.
“12 But I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them.
“13 Then the disciples understood that he spake unto them of John the Baptist.”
    Matthew 17:10-13, KJV.
I believe in reincarnation, as Jesus clearly said John the Baptist was Elijah. Israel did not embrace their Messiah, so in time Elijah will indeed have to return again. Reincarnated or return in another manner we shall see. But reincarnation does seem to occur when it is important and pertains to God’s plan. Others say it only means John the Baptist had the persona of Elijah, but that is not what Jesus Christ said. So, reincarnation seems to be possible. Perhaps Mr. Bowman is returned with his family to live a full life together, but they now live elsewhere together. Christ is merciful, and He understands our hearts.
Such a beautiful Victorian home and buildings in this video!
I house sat for a family once who lived in an absolutely stunning Queen Anne Victorian home. It had two towers to the front, one on each side. I went through the home and it was stunning to understand what it was I was to watch over. They do not make homes in this way anymore.
The owners had lost a young lady in the family to a car accident (I’m not sure if she was a daughter or a niece), and the wife couldn’t deal with it and had deep struggles with depression and alcohol from then on, which is so heartbreaking. She was such a wonderful and sweet lady. They also had a son who was in the military during the Vietnam war, and he had been in special ops. He couldn’t adjust back to living in a home, or close to many people. Our paths accidentally crossed at the time I house sat for his parents. I must say he had a very powerful and impacting spirit, and he was a very good man, one with much honor and respect toward others, and a deeply loving individual. Since our paths crossed he has always come to my home in the night late and sat outside our windows where he watched over us, and his presence I know for a fact kept us all safe on many occasions. For this I’m ever thankful for him and what he has been able to give.
I won’t say any names, as the sons are all still living, and there are grandchildren, etc. But I will say this family was a very strong family in their community who met with unforeseen tragedies that tore at their hearts and souls for they loved one another with a powerful love. I’m telling this because they deserve to be remembered in some way, and to also come back at some time, if the Lord tarries, to live a better life together where they all flourish to their highest potential, and for all to be healed and whole again. As I say I believe Christ is merciful, and His mercy knows no bounds. I hope this can happen especially for the Vietnam veteran. He holds a special place in my heart. His grief is heavy I’m sure, as it can be felt. He deserves so much better, just as this man Mr. Bowman and his family deserve so much more. Grief is a consuming thing, and it can overtake each of us at the most inopportune time in our lives. Remember to always hold each other tightly, and tell each other how much you love and adore each other. This will get you through the times when they slip away beyond the veil.
God bless you, Ron, and again thank you for such a powerful testament of love and life.

Without Christ, there's no hope, no joy. I grew up in a very affluent suburb and I was always depressed and suicidal. Later in life I lost my 2 children, and everything I had. I hated and blamed God. It was while I was living in my car that I cried out to God and the Holy Spirit wrapped me in a cocoon of love and peace, it's absolutely indescribable what I felt and what transpired. I surrendered my life to Him and for 3 days He ministered to me. My life turned around. I may not have a lot of money, but I know joy and peace. I still grieve for my children, but the Lord helps me through the valley. I don't have "religion", I have a relationship with Jesus Christ.

I hope the people over this beautiful place plan to paint & protect the outside of these irreplaceable treasures. I feel thankful that they’ve been able to keep it safe for as long as they have.

Another winner, Ron. The mausoleum was amazing! Mirrors, bronze sconces, busts, sculptures, columns and arches! Victorian splendor! The statue of Mr. Bowman bringing a wreath to honor and commemorate his loved ones.....poignant. One can almost feel a longing to join them death in his manner, I think. Though the house and property changed hands later, the mausoleum and its "couches of dreamless sleep" shall forever be that of the Bowmans. Rest In Peace to them all.

About thirty years ago I lived in Cuttingsville, and this mausoleum and Mr. Bowman's statue are on a hill right on the highway (you can hear the cars in this video). At that time they covered the statue with a protective metal case in the winter. Very freaky, because it looked like a coffin!
Thank you for this, I never knew the background story!

This was so interesting to watch, great story (you are so nice to listen to) and beautiful mausoleum. What surprised me was that he had this enormous statue made of himself, not of the people he lost they were only the heads (I assume that there must have been one of the daughter). When they died the focus was on him.
